Chapter 7— Something’s coming!

The evening duties had been completed, all we had to do was sit by the fire and listen to the story teller, for it was another third night. This time, Kuvwe told us to pray to the gods of Arion that something was coming.

"Kuvwe what is it?" Kara asked,

"The winds feel strange, I can't tell".

"Well maybe it's a storm!", Someone amongst us said.

"No it's not!" I stood at once. "Don't you see, even Kuvwe has felt it, something is coming, a beast, to kill us all. It killed my Father and your Fathers. I just know it, and soon it will be here too, please let's find a way out of this".

My heart beating loudly, a tear fell from my left eye. They began whispering among themselves.

"Enough Kara! Enough of your nonsense", Kware the village chief commanded.

I fled to my secret hut, a tiring run from the village square. It was an abandoned hut Kane and I had found when we were kids, we too had abandoned it, we never really had time to play anymore, now that there was more to do.

It was only after I discovered the King beast, that I thought of the hut again. I had worked on the hut for days, making it ready for murder! I had designed the hut as a place for hiding and escape. If ever the King beast would attack, my Mother, Kane and I would flee to it for refuge. So I thought.

Sleep crept into my eyes that night, in the lonely hut.
