An Accursed Gift (1)

Lucas was feeling done as of this moment, done of everything.

He no longer feels sane, he can't even tell what's real from fake anymore. What's worse is that the head voice entity just made everything way more complicated earlier, or back then, he can't even tell how long everything has been going on.

I'm dead?! And what's more is that I died again?! What the fuck does that even mean?!

He continued restelessly laying down on the bed, he was too tired to even try and make sure that this was just a dream.

Still, he doesn't believe that everything he's seeing is real, but a part of him says that denying for too long will only worsen his condition.

None of this makes any sense! How am I supposed to believe that I was now in some place different from my old home? and in an another timeline regressive from mine?

He continued thinking but was then stopped by a sudden realization.

Regressive? That word is too big and deep for even the old me to normally use... Even my way of speaking has suddenly changed.

It feels like whoever originally owns this body has begun influencing my ways of life...

Lucas wondered.

But then, why is it that the mother of this body looks the same as mine? Wait-

He hurriedly got up from bed and headed towards the small vanity mirror on top of the makeshift vanity table.

As he walked step by step he was a little wobbly at first but then became used from his movements.

The moment he grabbed the mirror, his reflection shocked him.

He-

He still looked the same, the same half American half Japanese phenotype. Blonde locks of hair, ocean blue eyes, pale and smooth white skin, the typical good-looking biracial Caucasian.

A lot of people he met have wondered why he looks slightly Japanese but then he has these European traits, and the reason for this is because of his pure American father.

His father, surprisingly also named Simon, unknown to him, was originally an American Soldier his mom met from within the American Bases near Tokyo. They met and fell in love just like the classic love story.

"I still look... Me.. "

He was in disbelief of this undeniable fact.

"Am I really dreaming??"

"AAaaargh I don't know anymore!!"

He yelled in frustration whole holding his increasingly throbbing head.

Until suddenly the door slammed open.

*BOOM

"Lucas?! You- you're awake!! "

"Oh god!! "

Teresa gave a hug.

"Honey!! Lucas!!!! He's awake!!! Come up now!!"

She then called for Simon downstairs, telling him that Lucas was now finally awake. This was then followed by loud thumping coming from the direction of the stairs.

"Lucas! Why didn't you call and tell us that were awake?!"

She then resumed her attention towards Lucas who she was hugging, the latter was already suffocating from the grip of the former.

"Mmmff mfff"

"Oh sorry"

She apologized for her carelessness.

"Puahhh, sorry mom I didn't want to alarm you guys-"

Lucas apologized back after being freed from her suffocating embrace until Simon arrived, interrupting Lucas' words.

He was breathless from quickly running up the stairs.

He then headed quickly towards his wife and son and grabbed Lucas by the shoulders.

"Lucas!! My son!! You're awake!!"

Simon yelled at Lucas' face as he shakes him violently from the excitement.

"Honey!!! Stop! You're hurting him!"

While Teresa on the sideline scolded him for his careless behavior.

Not like you did that just earlier

Lucas thought sarcastically as he observes his relieved parents' behavior.

And there they were, ranting and scolding and ranting throughout the first couple of minutes Lucas was finally back from dying again.

---

Lucas and his parents were now eating lunch at their pub's countertops.

"These are... surprisingly delicious, despite looking backwards..."

He commented about his dad's homemade meat stew that he usually serves for this pub.

"Backwards?-"

Simon was about to react until his wife cut his words short.

"Are you really ok now?"

Teresa asked Lucas as she sips her drink.

"You were bedridden for two weeks straight, and now you're here eating and judging your father's cooking... This is a blessing from God!"

She continued as she slurps her meat stew.

"What?-"

And once again, Simon was about to react but Lucas cut his words short.

"I'm really ok now, but two weeks, how did that happen?"

Lucas was curious as to how he 'supposedly' died again.

"You don't remember anything? Oh well here's what happened-"

Both Teresa and Simon told Lucas about what had transpired that led to his collapse.

They told him that there was this guy who tried to hurt him which made Lucas scared so much he collapsed and so on.

It seems that their previous anger has warped their memories of what truly happened, leading to them conveying the wrong flow of events to Lucas.

"So that was what happened.. "

Lucas bobbed his head up and down in response to the weirdly movie-like story.

"But what happened to that guy?"

He asked another question, wondering what happened to the misunderstood guy.

"Both of us immediately decided to send him straight to the jail cells after I punched him unconscious"

Teresa answered Lucas' question.

And once again, he nodded silently at her answer and went straight to contemplation

But why do I feel like something's wrong with this story? Like a piece is missing..

Lucas was curious about what was making him so weirded out by the story told by his parents.

Whatever, let's just let go of that, he did deserve it so whatever.

He stopped his contemplation and continued peacefully eating.

And as he munched on his food, both Simon and Teresa watched him while smiling, they were truly glad that nothing bad happened to their one and only child.

And just like that, the family of three continued to eat their lunch. Afterwards, Lucas was forced by his parents to go back to his room for him to rest. It is only logical that they want him to not do any work as of now, when it had been barely half a day since he woke up from his long slumber.

---

Lucas was now in his room, looking out the window, observing the outside of his room in a new world he has been put in.

"This all feels too real... I can no longer begin to think that this is all a dream"

He spoke to himself as he puts his hands under his chin, resting his elbow on the window frame while continually observing the medieval passerbies.

"*sighs*"

He sighed.

I'm glad that my parents here are the same loving mother and father I have back home, but....

He pursed his lips from the sadness selling up from within.

But why do I feel like I'm still missing something?...

Mom, dad, this house, medieval times, I'm Lucas, same parents, school? and.....

Lucas pondered.

Until his eyes became wide, seemingly realizing something huge after all this time.

"REN!!"

Lucas finally found out why he felt that something, or someone crucial in his life was missing.

It was Ren, his one and only childhood bestfriend, and first love.
