Chapter 1: Heed my words, my pen.

"Dear Diary,

I turn 4 today, they say... or rather, "she" says... I asked my mother, but she dismissed it, so I assume even she doesn't know the day of my birth. From what I could see, my existence and life only ever stressed her out. I was always thinking, wondering about the quality of my mother. The doctor gave me this book as a present for my birthday, and she suggested I make a diary with it, so I did. I don't see the charm though, seems like a whole lot of work. Even then, I'll write... cause it's something I can do, so why not? I might as well try to struggle a bit in this life, that I can't find anything for... Maybe this'll be a discovery for Shellyne Wyrn...

What do I even write in diaries anyway? Findings? Observations? Funny faces? "Fun"?

I think I get the reason to keep a diary now... It may be because anything goes. There are no rules binding you... just "you". If that's the case then... verily, diaries aren't for me. Because I hate me. Nevertheless, I'll keep writing in hopes that that hate can one day dissipate.

Yours,

Shellyne Wyrn."

As I finish writing, I put down the pen. I stretch my body from it's of immobile and side eyes the person peeking into my room. Though, I never need to guess who it is anymore. I hop off my chair, and walk towards her. The doctor.

"Ah! I was spotted after all... hehe!"

"It's not really difficult. It's only ever you that takes interest in my room."

"Not that I take interest in your room, I take interest in you, Shellyne." she says crouching to meet my eye level.

"You know, it's quite insulting you always crouch to meet my eye level."

"Well, it makes it easier for you to look at me, does it not?"

 "Hmm..."

Then I cough. Lately I've gotten sick often, and it is revealed to me that my body is frail, and that I will get sick easily. My body isn't frail as to where even the slightest movement leads to fatigue... but she said that I have an unusually low pool of mana, therefore magic constantly feeds at my soul, or rather, pressing on it. She has sent this diagnosis to grandmother for further analysis, but apparently it's taking quite a while to be figured out.

 "You okay, Shellyne?"

 "Yes."

"Shellyne!! Come here!! It's time for swordsmanship training!!" A woman yelled out.

"Go on then. Can't keep your mother waiting can you?"

...

.....

 I certainly can.

Training grounds1

"Mother." I called out, trying to show 'respect'.

"What took you so long? Go grab a sword."

 I do as she says.

"We'll spar as usual today, got that?"

 "With you, again?"

"Who else? You can't even win against me."

 No. You're weak.

"Don't you think having me practise and spar against other sword style would improve my fighting capabilities more, mother?"

"You can't even beat me after that much sparring, and you're already trying to reach for stars? Wake up."

...

...

Are you so feeble such that you never realised I was holding back?

 "Take your stance."

 I do as I'm told.

 "Ready?"

 I nod.

 She dashes.

 I sidestep.

 She slices.

 I'm faster.

That was the flow of today's training. It would usually last longer, with me having been hit much more, but today I feel especially bored, so I'll try my best to end this quick.

*plap*

The sound of a wooden sword impacting someone can be heard. That time, it was my sword hitting her. She stumbles from the strike, and stands there in shock. I hear her seething in rage as her teeth gritted on each other, clearly in disbelief.

A 4 year old bested you. A failure of a mother. How does that feel, huh?

"Training dismissed. Go to your room."

 I nod.

I turn around to leave, but she had other plans. With a swift movement, she swings the bamboo sword for my head. It was met with my hand instead as I turn my head slowly to face her.

"I suggest you give me another opponent next time. Your patterns clearly indicates you're not skilled enough." I say, letting go of her sword before walking towards my room.

"Besides, fighting more than one opponent will help me develop a sword style, so get your mind together and sotp being ignorant." I say as I leave

I can already see it. I'm definitely getting beat after this for "disrespect". Not like I'm not used to it. Every little thing I do wrong I get punished for. That's why nowadays I just stay up all night training so that when the actual training comes I don't make mistakes. It's by no means healthy, but one's got to do what she's got to do.

...

...

I feel the breeze caressing my cheeks.

It feels a bit more different than what it usually does, but how would I know?

"It's going to be cold tonight... Guess I'll train inside tonight..."

I reach my room, and head straight for my table and opened up my diary...

-------------------

"Dear Diary,

I just bested my mother in a sparring involving blades. I'd like to believe that this isn't just a natural everyday occurrence but, I know too less of the world to judge anything. Hell, I know too less of ANYTHING to judge anything. I can't help but wonder... when will these visions stop happening? Visions...? What visions...?

...

My head hurts. Flashing images... Call doctor...

Yours,

Sllyne

---------------

*THUD!*

!!

That came from...!

"SHELLYNE!!!!!"

I rush to her and put my hand under her nose. Still breathing... normal rate. Wait... no... she's practically struggling to breathe!! Heart beat... high... alramingly high...!

 Don't panic... Weilai...

 "High-Ultimate Tier Magic:Telepaty."

"Weilai. Shellyne's passed out. Her heart rate is going through the roof. I need help urgently."

"I'm here." A voice called out behind me. It seems she's used relocation to reach here.

"She's over there!" I point to Shellyne who I've put on the bed as Weilai rushes towards her and put her hand on her forehead, crouching down to meet her level.

"What heat... What was she doing before this?"

 "Sword-play"

 "That shouldn't be the cause"

She hurriedly but gently opens up both her eyelids. It was an unbelievable sight...

Her eyes... One of them is moving rapidly... More rapid than the ones you'd achieve in REM...

"Is she going to be okay?!" I screamed out loud.

"Fortunately, yes. This is natural." she says, standing up from her crouched position.

"IT IS?!" I say. I feel as though my jaw has touched the ground and gone under.

"For her, yes. This needs to happen, or else then it'd be unnatural."

 "Eh, why?"

"Instructive moment. Try to figure it out."

Hm... Rapid Eye Movement... Why...? Oh!

"Something to do with her Active Innate Ability?"

"Yes, but not exactly. Since she has The Innate Ability of Future Premonition, her eyes must undergo this process in order to be able to take in as much future possibilities as possible, while maintaining accuracy. That being said... If her movements are this rapid at such a young age... It'd be quite terrifying later on... She's formidable this one... Even greater... No, it is FAR greater than the degree of future premonition Nezha held. I can only imagine half the person she can be."

"The power and magnitude of an innate ability depends on the degree of understanding someone has on it... You've taught me this before... and hence is why to achieve True Innate Ability, one must first master their Innate Ability to a molecular level... correct?"

 "Yes, what of it?"

...

Silence falls amongst us before I get the courage to say the thing I wanted to say...

"N-nothing..." I say, my hand subconsciously shaking in fear a bit, which made Weilai raise her eyebrow.

"It- uhm... It's just that... I wonder... How did this child... come to understand the concept of future... so greatly at such a young age... when to all of us... it is the most foreign concept we could think of."

Weilai looks at Shellyne before saying "You're right. That's terrifying, but that just goes to show how incredible to mind of a child is." she says, before pausing.

...

...

"Or worst case... How detached her mind is from reality..."

With that, Weilai and I exchange a few more words before taking her leave... Although just small talk, there was something that intrigued me a bit in one of its contents...

"What do you think she saw in her first couple future premonitions?"

...

"Well, whatever it is, all I can do is hope that she didn't see anything that would come to scar her for life."
