Prologue

"-Where are we?!"

"-What's happening?!"

Pure chaos, that was what it was, with everyone panicking while trying to comprehend the situation at hand.

Unknown as to how or why it happened, our entire class had suddenly gotten transported into what I could only guess was another dimension after a bright light had engulfed the classroom. Following this, a quick warping sensation had taken hold of us all, as to then finally put us here, in a pristinely, completely white space with... nothing. Absolutely nothing.

"What do we do, Aldric?!"

Looking down at the blonde-haired girl, with the deep blue eyes, that was now grabbing my arm, the one I had finally had the guts to confess to just yesterday, I wasn't quite sure what kind of answer to give her.

Selene was a very beautiful girl, with a body adorned with very womanly features. Yet, that was but one of the many reasons I liked her. The main reason was that seemingly no matter how popular she got, she was still always the same. Kind, gentle, and empathetic.

"I think we just have to wait, Selene."

"But..."

"Look around you. There's nothing here, which means there is also nothing for us to find even if we try. Let's just wait and see what happens."

Though I tried to act calmly, as I always did, I was also, in fact, freaking the fuck out on the inside.

'What the fuck is happening?!'

Just like the others I was also just a newly aged eighteen-year-old, so how was I supposed to have a good answer? The truth? There was absolutely no way.

"Everyone, calm down! Running around screaming isn't helping anyone! Just take a deep breath and calm down so we can start thinking about this rationally."

Luckily, George, who was more or less the unofficial leader of the class, stepped forward while raising his voice.

George was a tall, handsome man with brown hair, as well as a well-developed body. Someone who excelled at pretty much anything he did. It didn't matter if it was sports, studies, or even his social life.

Yet, there was also another person with the same kind of status in this room, a person who wasn't quite sure how that had happened but also had no choice but to accept it as the truth.

Walking over to exactly that person, the individual who George for some reason saw as an equal, he spoke with a stern look, "Aldric, what do you think?"

'What do you mean, what do I think?! I don't know shit!'

Yes, that person was me. The other student who also excelled in everything I did. Supposedly...

The truth of the matter was that I had always felt an incredible sense of imposter syndrome, as I had never in my life been quite sure what I was doing. Despite this, I kept up with the play that I had been acting in for so long.

"Hmm... I'm not sure. I think..."

"Greetings, humans of the earth."

Luckily for me, I didn't even have to pretend to think about things as another bright light shone in front of us as a gentle, female voice rang out.

Out of nowhere, a huge woman clad in a white dress appeared from the light, towering over us as if she was a goddess. Which, when thinking about it, she probably was.

With golden, blonde hair draped over her shoulders and a figure that even put Selene to shame, she was more than just a beautiful woman. She was absolutely breathtaking. Yet, when she continued to speak, I felt as if her charms slowly disappeared more and more in my eyes.

"You have all been chosen to go to my world, a world called Terros. In this world, you will experience many things. Everything from magic to monsters, as well as to getting to know races other than humans."

I felt my back grow cold as I realized just what she was telling us, and what that meant for me.

No matter how well I could fake things on earth, how was I supposed to fake fighting monsters or using magic?!

Unfortunately, the goddess kept on talking without minding my inner thoughts at all, "The purpose behind you being chosen is simple. You are to defeat the demon king that will appear on Terros together with the three major nations Luprad, the nation of the elves, Creria, the nation of the dwarves, and Esna, the nation of the humans."

As everyone took a second to think about what she was telling us, with the goddess allowing us to do so, it didn't take long until George felt the need to intervene.

"Goddess of Terros... I'm sorry if I might sound impertinent, but what if there are people who are not willing to fight?"

'Yeah! What about us?!'

To this, she merely smiled gently, "I will not force anyone who doesn't want to fight to fight. However, it is still a fact that you will be transferred into a world where power sadly rules all. I do encourage you all to find your own paths in life, and if you can find another way for the world to survive without defeating the demon king, please do so."

'Shitty goddess...'

Though she wanted to make it sound like we had a choice in the matter, the meaning behind her words was that if we didn't defeat the demon king, there was nothing that would ensure our survival.

Also realizing this, despite so many of our classmates, including my girlfriend, relaxing a bit, George forced himself to accept the circumstances.

"Alright. Then, how are we supposed to fight this demon king?"

Suddenly, although I had no idea why all my classmates flinched a bit, appearing to look at something in front of their faces.

"You will fight by using this. Please do take your time to look at it thoroughly, even though there shouldn't be too much to it right now."

'Too much to what?!'

I still had no idea what she was talking about as Selene took a step away from me and raised her hand. Then, her finger seemed to follow something in the empty air in front of her, a habit that I had learned she did when she was concentrating while trying to read something important.

More and more, I felt the sense of urgency grow inside of me, as a bead of sweat rolled down my forehead. Therefore, with panic in my heart, I also pretended to look at something in the air, rubbing my chin as if I was pondering.

Luckily, and unfortunately, George managed to reveal a bit of the secret that I was not a part of.

"I see... So with these powers, we can grow strong enough to fight the demon king. Is that it?"

Nodding her head, the goddess was pleased that he had managed to understand her intentions.

"That's right. Even though all of the inhabitants of my world inherit this kind of power, you will be able to grow far stronger than most of them as long as you put in the work. Unfortunately, time seems to have run out."

'...huh?'

"I hope that you all manage to live happily in my world, despite the many challenges that you will have to face. Good luck."

*DON!*

Another huge circle of light, very similar to the one that had transported us here, lit up under our feet.

"Aldric!"

Taking hold of my arm once again, I could see just how scared Selene was, though I still doubted that she was as scared as I was. Putting my hand on her head, I smiled down, pretending as if I wasn't completely freaking out right now.

"It's going to be fine. I'll see you on the other side, Selene."

"Aldric..."

*ZOOM!*

==========

"...what?"

Opening my eyes, having prepared myself to see my classmates once again, I was bewildered to find myself all alone in a very large, mostly empty room seemingly made completely out of stone.

'A church? No, if it was a church, what is the throne made of stone doing there?'

Thanks to the torches that were neatly put up on the walls, I could see that the room I had arrived in was some sort of throne room, though there was nothing in it except the throne in front of me.

"Master, you have arrived."

Turning around, getting to witness the large size of the room, there was suddenly someone in front of me, standing on one knee with her fist placed down on the hard and cold floor.

With completely white hair, and clad in black leather armor, I felt myself falling into an even more panicked state while looking at the stranger.

"Who... who are you?"

Raising her head, showing me her blood-red eyes as well as the two sharp fangs that peeked out from her mouth, the lady presented herself.

"I am Tatiana, the one who has been chosen by the goddess to guide your path as the demon king."
