"Did you hear that?" Ray asked Meghan as he was about to open the eighth floor fire exit door.

"Hear what?" she asked, stopping to turn her head to focus better.

"It sounded like a bang or a crash." He said. "Felt like it came from below." He then leaned over the railing and looked down.

"Well, you see anything?" Meghan asked.

"I—I think so. Two shadows are running up the stairs. Must be Rody and Samantha."

"Oh the crash was probably just them then." Meghan speculated.

"Hmmm… I don't know about that." After stopping to think for a second, Ray raised his voice and called out loudly, "Oi, Rody!" he shouted.

After a moment's delay a voice answered back, "Ray?" it said.

Ray breathed a sigh of relief, "Ahh, it's just you two. What was that sound just…"

"Dude we fucked up!" Rody shouted back. "We let Erratics into the fire exit. They're right behind us."
