CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Heli was now officially an elder - although, she had been ever since she had gotten her first string from killing that first elder, which had been about 4 years ago. With a familiar pang of guilt, everything that had happened before came back into her head.

Heli rubbed her forehead. This wasn't helping. If only she could just forget everything, and start anew. Everything she had lost wasn't a good reminder anyway - but simply a hindrance. She blamed herself for everything that happened, and that was why she wanted to forget it so badly. Her heart felt like it was steadily splintering into thousands of different pieces.

"How can I forget…" Heli muttered, and then an idea popped into her head. Elders could do anything, and since she was one, she could hopefully tell the alchemist to cast a memory spell on her.

Candle in hand, she pulled her hood further over her head and disappeared into the crowds of people.
