Encounters (part 2)

Terrick's continued Blue Fire spell attack has almost broken through the barrier of pink mist. Just then, a girl that looked a couple years younger than him passed through the mist.

"So, you are the insolent human who is trying to take down my barrier." The girl in a kimono says cheerfully: "Now suffer from your hubris!"

A cloud of pink mist forms and attacks Terrick. The pink cloud catches part of Terrick sleeves and it disintegrates almost immediately.

"You are ruining my suit, little girl." Terrick chastising the girl, which incenses her. She summons more clouds and Terrick is forced to be on the defensive. Minutes later, his clothes are barely recognizable as a suit.

"Such a shame! I paid so much money for this!" he utters as he rips the rest of the shirt revealing a well-built body of well-proportioned abs, pecs, and arms.

The girl gets fluttered! "What do you think you are doing?! This is a fight, you pervert!" Blood now clearly flushing her checks.

"You were the one who burned my clothes you, child psychopath!" Terrick shouted defensively while he was in his chibi form.

"How dare you call me a psychopath?! I happened to be the nicest one in my brood, I'll have you know!" she retorts.

"Brood?! Just what kind of beast are you?" Terrick's comment obviously struck a nerve.

In anger she summons more mist but Terrick counters with Explosion magic which dissipated the pink clouds instantaneously.

Meanwhile, thousands of golems and gargoyles have infiltrated the school. The few magi that happened to have been in school were doing all they can to keep the monsters at bay. Huge explosions and enormous releases of mana were occurring throughout the school. The well-trimmed hedges and pristine buildings were giving way to a post apocalyptic view of destruction.

A stout magus directs a charged Lightning attack at the golems and they crack and break apart within seconds. Though the magus was surrounded, the attack spreads out from him tearing apart any and all enemy within the clearing. A hundred golems were destroyed in an instant but another hundred take their place. In between two buildings nearby, a marble golem was using martial arts in an effort to subdue one of the battle magus. Some of the older magicians were directing and protecting the younger students retreating from the dormitories to a nearby safe room so the teachers could focus on fighting the monsters off.

Dragnar, in is draconic form, was still fighting a giant golem who was now showing cracks. The golem swats the flying dragon-man but does not damage him. With one forceful punch, he was able to knock the giant into the ground. Then with his dragon breath, he blasted the golem until the stone partially melted into lava. The golem tried to stand but the second dragon breath ensured that there was nothing left of him but a puddle of melted rock. Dragnar along with Bryce and Althea proceed to another area of the campus.

With monsters attacking every district and the Grand Magical Academy, the Royal guards were focused on maintaining the barrier to the Royal castle and keeping the Royal family safe.

Despite many promptings, Rhald remained outside the castle preferring to stand next to the barrier. Most of the guards were spread throughout the castle manning various posts. The strongest of the Royal guards serve as personal body guards to the Royal family. A team of these elite guards is designated to each member.

Just then, a group of Royal guards stationed outside the barrier became restless. Monsters started marching towards the castle. Among them were a gargoyle, a shadow, and an Arachne. Rhald remembered Althea talking about the beast subjugation in Kauven and how it was purported to have been instigated by a white spiderwoman. Rhald called the guards inside the castle to fortify the defenses but they couldn't do anything since they were trapped inside the castle as well.

Rhald looked helplessly as a company of Royal guards were viciously slaughtered and eaten outside the barrier just a short distance from him. All the while, he was pounding his hands on the barrier and pleading to all the spirits to help the soldiers dying outside.

The Arachne held a vial of glowing blue liquid in her hands. She drank the contents of the vial and an oppressive amount of mana radiated from her being. It was so strong that the barrier to the Royal castle was rippling and buckling. Then, the barrier buckled and deformed- creating a doorway. She along with her retinue were about to walk through the barrier when an Elite squad of Royal guards seem to appear out of nowhere.

They were all S rank soldiers with the leader being halfway to SS rank. Rhald came to join them but the leader of the troop told him no. "Let us do our job to protect the Royal family." Rhald was about to respond in disagreement when the troop leader said, "Please, warn the others and be safe."

"May the gods protect you!" Rhald said as he patted the man in his shoulder. Then without looking back, he ran inside the castle to warn the others.
