Encounters

As soon as Bryce and Ellie cross the boundaries of the school, the mist solidifies behind them. They hear a crash and rush towards the source of the sound. They find the scene of an unconscious magus who was attack from behind. A scorpion halfling was now threatening a handful of new magicians. Before his claw could reach the nearest student, a magic sword embedded with Dark magic swung in defiance of its objective. The claw was swatted away while Bryce was amazed at how hard the scorpion claw was. His Dark element infused sword has never failed to cut through anything except for Althea's Light element Manifestations.

Now that Bryce had a chance to take a close look at his opponent he could see that the beast had a scorpion as its whole body except for his torso and head were that of a human. The monster smirked. "So, you can use Dark element as well, human!"

This stopped Bryce in his tracks. "Do beasts use Dark magic?" This thought caused him to hold off on his next attack in hopes of learning more. This was the first time he has every met someone who could also use Dark element. He had so many questions, but they had to wait until later. Hopefully, he didn't have to kill his enemy. But it seems that these situations always seem to come to that.

Meanwhile, Althea was busy Healing the prone magus. He was one she hasn't met before but there were many magicians who teach at the academy. Next, she checked the status of the 4 magicians and they were a little scratched but mostly okay, if not a little shaken. She points them to the location of one of the closest Panic room and suggested that they stay there until she could go back for them. They run into the building. When she knew that they had safely arrived at the panic room, she turned her attention to the scorpion halfling.

Before she could reach Bryce, Fan came calling from a nearby building. Fan has been the Magical Runes magus and a well-liked one at that. Fan was busy scribbling a runic circle on the ground. From what Althea could gather, it was a very complicated summoning spell. Fan instructed her to draw the more basic aspects of the circle. It took a while. More screams and explosions could be heard across the academy.

"What could possibly be so important to summon at this moment that it took precedence over helping students right now?!" Althea thought. Her answer came when Fan finally activated the runic summoning circle and three very familiar figures appeared through the smoke.

Dragnar, Nue, and Kuart!

Apparently, Dragnar was stuck in the castle when the barrier when up while Nue and Kuart rushed to the school but were unable to pass through the magic mist barrier.

A giant explosion shook the ground. Half the façade of the main building of the academy was in ruins. The smoke bellowed out into a plume while coughing and injured students rushed out of their hiding spots and poured out of the damaged building. Seeing this, Dragnar charges mana and turns into his Draconic form. Wings sprout from his back while reptilian skin begin to cover his visage. His perfect teeth turn into sharp fangs. Reptilian slits replace his eyes while he flies towards the damaged building. There, a giant golem was rampaging. Fan and Nue were helping the students get to safety while Althea was healing some of the injured. Kuart seems to be fighting a young girl who was wearing a cape.

At the market district, Vane and Lest found dead people strewn across the road. In one of the alleys, there was a werewolf still feasting on a young man. The bloodied man was wearing a royal guard uniform. "He must have sacrificed himself to let the other people escape," Vane thought. As the beast took another voracious bite, groans of pain escaped the man's lips. He was being eaten alive!

"You bastard!" Vane shouted in anger.

Moving so quick that even Lest was surprised, Vane closes the distance and punches the werewolf square in the face. The beast slams to the ground and cowers in pains. It shakes its face, growls at the twins, and prepares to attack Vane. Vane's next punch hits him in the shoulders and the beast whimpers while dragging its now none functioning arm. Lest casts a fatal Wind attack that slashed at the beast until all its vital organs were eviscerated. With blood rapidly pooling under its devastated body, the monster released a wave of prickly mana.

Within seconds, other werewolves can be heard howling in the distance. Though the sound appears to be coming closer to where they are. Vane and Lest are now surrounded by almost a hundred of them. They snarl and scratch but Lest is far too agile to be caught. These attacks do very little damage to Vane's Earth armor as he continues to pummel the ones that dared step too close.
