chapter one

The day always started out the same. "Get up maggot" a guard pulling me away from my cage only to dunk ice water over me which they classify as a bath since they don't want to waste warm water for something like me.

I shivered slightly as the cold I got from yesterday's bath had started acting up again making my headache turn into a migraine. It didn't help that there were children wailing while looking at the rotting corpse of someone who was alive and playing with them yesterday. The only thing tears get you in here is more suffering, it's something that I learned from the beginning.

I wrung out my clothes getting out as much water as possible and walked back to my cell as they gave the other kids a bath but just as i was about to lay down a older guard who has been here since i was a baby banged on my cell licking one of the bars "tomorrow it will be cage moving time, which is when you'll be 14 and your the perfect age for me". He put his hand over his crotch and pretended like he was jacking off as I shrank farther back into my cell putting my hands on my neck feeling the wounds on it trying to calm myself down as the migraine from before finally went away. Everyone seemed to quiet down once the guards stopped terrorizing people and left for their lunch break but that didn't stop the other people in my cell from clinging to my arm like a lifeline.

I looked over to Brahm and emily as i let them hug my sides as i layed down on the cot, simply waiting for the question of the year "Kenzie when are we going to leave here?…." I shut my eyes tiredly and answered as honestly as possible ".....i don't know brahm but….i think tonight is my last night…" both of them hugged onto me tighter as emily started to cry into my shoulder as i just stared up to the ceiling memorizing the walls as i laughed bitterly. "I wonder what the sky looks like?". Brahm whispered to me "maybe there are more colors out in the world and the sky is a, what is it called again?" Emily responded to him, "a rainbow." I felt him smile into my shoulder as Emily laughed "yeah I wanna see a rainbow with you guys!" I rubbed both of their heads silently agreeing with them, waiting for them to fall into a deep sleep.

Finally when everyone in the cages had fallen asleep I slipped out of the bed silently as I grabbed a broken shard of glass out from under a loose floorboard. I took one look back towards my two friends before finally jabbing the shard into my heart, letting my vision leave me and in my final moments it felt as though i could feel my own heartbeat fading but just as it had gotten to its lowest point, it started to speed back up again until i was gasping for air but the shard was still hanging in my chest as blood was dripping down but instead of seeing a wall when i looked up, what i saw was a blue screen that said the words congratulations on unlocking your blood creation skill as well as your distinct creation, please press continue to see more information. I rubbed my eyes one more time to check if my brain was playing tricks on me but the screen was still there even after I put my hand though it, all I felt was a warm tickle so I pressed continue as I read the information.

~BLOOD CREATION

To use this skill you must inflict pain to yourself to the point where some amount of blood comes out. With your blood you can create the image of the form you want it to take. At the level you are currently at you can control where the blood goes with your eyes and can form one thing at a time only depending on how much blood was spilled, more information will be shown when at a certain level or have used this skill 100 times.

~DISTINCT CREATION

With this skill you can create almost anything you have tasted and replicate almost everything about it, creating consumable items takes less mana than it does to create permanent skills that you have never experienced. If someone has attacked you with a skill you do not have, it will take less mana to create that skill than it would with something you have not expierienced: hint creating the alchemy skill then using alchemy to make consumable items will take less mana that it would with distinct creation.

~BANE

This skill relies heavily on foods that have been consumed that are poisonous to the body. This skill gives the owner a second stomach specifically for poison. The larger amount of poisonous foods that have been consumed will help permanently increase your mana and when unconscious or in a state where your are unable to move, you will release poisonous gas at a 2 meter range and the amount of potency depends on the amount of stored poison. This skill can be used also as a bomb but it will deplete half of your mana.

~PARALYZE

With this skill you can release poison onto anything that has died and you can control it. The stronger the being, the more poison is needed. The longer the being has died, the stronger it will be when you resurect it. The being will always obey you physically and mentally, you can also view there past memories and if you have had the under the paralyze skill for more that a week you naturally can shapeshift into them or you can feed them more poison and unlock that part permanently. Hint: you will probably be very hungary after using this skill

~SHIFTER (LOCKED)

I shook my head at the last skill putting it aside since I cannot use it and focused mainly on the two. Okay if i can create anything with my blood doesn't that mean i can create a key and get us out of here. As soon as the thought hit me I used the blood that was still pouring out of me and created a key large enough for our cells as I struggled to angle the key well enough into the hole but after a couple tries I was able to unlock it.

All the stress in my body left within an instint as I tiptoed over to Emily and Brahm as I woke them up. Brahm was about to speak but i held a hand up over his mouth as i showed him the unlocked door and the key as they both got the hint as we opened up the cell door and walked as quietly as possible to find an exit until i saw a door that was letting a new type of light i had never seen spill in but just as i was about to open the door for us all to escape emily spoke up "i know were about to escape but...what about the others" i paused as i turned back to her to see her eyes pleading for me to go back for them. Emily got tired of my indecisiveness and just grabbed the key and started to unlock other cells. I slapped my forehead "emily hurry you know the guards will-" all of a sudden the floor started to shake violently as rocks started to fall from up top. I grabbed the wall to regain balance as I looked back towards the exit which was slowly starting to come apart. A scream erupted from the area where I last saw Emily as I turned my head quickly but god knows that if i could change the past, I never would have looked to see what happened. A boulder fell down above Emily and crushed her body as her blood splashed out from her body and sprayed all onto me and Brahms' clothes. My eyes started shaking as my vision got wobbly as I reached over to brahm slowly and put a hand over his eyes hoping that he didn't see it but I could tell from the way he was crying that it was too late.

Just as I was about to take a step towards the door I felt a force push me forward as I turned mid fall to reach my hand out to brahm but the boulder had fallen, ultimately cutting off the last unguarded exit. I ran back up to the boulder while banding my hands on it trying to break it. I used the blood from my scraped up hands to make a large spike but it still didnt even put a dent into it "brahm! You will not leave me, I won't let you!" I could hear Brahm crying as he yelled to me "I never will leave you! I swear we will find each other. This won't be the last time I promise, but you have to go now, dont let all of this be for nothing!" I stayed next to the boulder for as long as possible before forcing myself to get away.

I started running as fast as my body would let me, as I ran the more it felt as if the trees were swallowing me whole and the dark was chasing after me trying to take me back, like it never wanted me to be free in the first place. The father I got the more my chest hurt and my throat got tighter with every step as I screamed out letting everything out not caring what could come after me, cause in this moment all i need is release. I slowed to a stop as I reached a cliff that showed me something beautiful. There were two large circles in the sky, one blue, one white as their brightness fell down upon me as if shielding me away from everything. Contrast to the cold in the dungeons, the circles were the warmest things I've felt in a long time.

I shut my eyes taking a real moment to inhale all of the scents around me, to listen to the animals of the night and to feel real grass and dirt underneath my hands as i just laid down and fell into the most comfortable sleep i've ever had but it still didn't fill up the pain i felt, it merely pushed it back and in this moment that is the best possible option, so to the big circles in the sky the first to ever give me warmth "thank you".
