"Miss Russell, it's good to see you here again!" Miranda greeted her enthusiastically. She smiled broadly and asked her staff to bring water and snacks to the VIP room. "Are you ready to pick out your wedding dress today?"
Irene checked her phone as she received a message from Sebastian. The message was short and clear. "I'll be late."
She sighed, knowing someone like him could not possibly spare days for her. Besides, why should she expect too much from him?
Even though he was on time yesterday, it didn't mean he would make the same effort for her today, did it? Besides, he did not send Amber to accompany her today, so Irene was sure that she was not that important.
"Yes, I want to look at your catalog first." Before she left, she asked, "My sister isn't coming today, is she?"
Miranda replied kindly. "No, she's not coming today."
Irene murmured, "Good."
It was then that Miranda finally realized that Irene's relationship with her sister was not that good. But she didn't say anything because she thought she had no right to dig into their personal relationship.
"Is Mr. Delacroix coming today?" Miranda opened the door for her and welcomed Irene into the VVIP room filled with the finest gowns.
Irene shrugged. "I don't know. Why? Are you afraid I won't be able to afford the clothes here if he doesn't come?"
Miranda's face went pale at the thought of asking such a rude question. But before she could apologize, the sound of laughter came from Irene's mouth. "Oh, come on, don't be so stiff. I was just joking."
She let out a sigh of relief. "You scared me, Miss Russell."
Irene just smiled in response. With that kind of reaction, she could make it clear that no one wanted to upset the Delacroix family. After all, they were the owners of a business empire on the continent of Groria, so they could determine one's fate as easily as turning over a palm.
If her family had known she was going to marry a tyrant from Delacroix, they would have been on their knees in a heartbeat.
Oh, Irene couldn't help but grin as she thought of their reaction.
"Can you help me pick out a wedding dress?" Irene asked Miranda.
She didn't want to spend all day picking out a wedding dress that didn't really matter. As long as the design was luxurious enough, Irene would take it in immediately.
"I have a few dresses that I think will suit you, Miss Russell." Miranda clapped her hands and asked her staff to bring the dresses on the mannequin to Irene. "Would you prefer a ball gown or a dress that fits your body?"
Irene walked around the mannequins, looking at the shimmering white dresses. The designer made these dresses with expensive fabric and exquisite embroidery that was hard to replicate.
"Honestly, I prefer dresses that can enhance the curves of my body. But unfortunately, that kind of dress would look too vulgar in the eyes of his parents."
Most of Sebastian's relatives and guests were elders, so Irene had to choose her wedding dress carefully. If she wore a dress that was too revealing or vulgar, they might think the bride was trying to seduce another rich man.
"How about I make a dress that fits your criteria?"
Miranda opened her sketchbook and began to draw Irene's dream wedding dress. She began with the sketch, her pencil gliding across the paper with precision and grace. Each line and curve took shape, forming a gown that was both classic and modern.
The bodice was adorned with delicate lace that hugged Irene's body and accentuated her curves. A sweetheart neckline could accentuate Irene's beautiful neck, but Miranda added a removable transparent lace cardigan to keep the dress from looking too vulgar during the ceremony.
"We can use a long train flowy skirt to make your appearance more graceful." Miranda handed the sketchbook to Irene. "What do you think, Miss Russell?"
Irene couldn't believe it took Miranda only a few minutes to sketch her dream wedding dress. "It's beautiful." Her eyes locked on the design as she imagined herself walking down the aisle in that beautiful gown "I don't know what to say."
The gown was perfect.
So perfect that Irene was hesitant to use it in her fake wedding. However, she doubted that she would have a chance to wear this dress in the future.
"It's not hard to design a gown for someone who has such a beautiful body like you, Miss Russell," Miranda praised her. "I have a gown that seems a little bit similar to this design. Would you like to try it on?"
Irene had no reason to refuse, so she nodded. The boutique assistants took her to the fitting room and helped her try on the dress.
As the fitting room curtain closed, Irene could hear Miranda talking to someone outside. The voice sounded like a man, but she wasn't able to recognize it because they talked quietly.
She checked her phone again and still hadn't received a message from Sebastian. Irene doubted that her fiancé would show up, but Miranda wouldn't let other customers enter the VIP room at the same time.
"We're ready, Miss Russell," one of the assistants said.
The mirror in the dressing room was too small for Irene to see her entire appearance. However, the sparkling sequins reflected light that could make Irene's face look brighter.
"I want to see the gown in a bigger mirror," Irene said.
"Of course, Miss."
As the boutique assistant opened the curtain of the fitting room, a huge bouquet of roses greeted Irene's face. The man standing behind it tilted his head so that Irene could see his face. "I'm sorry for being late, baby."
Oh, such a drama king.
Irene suspects that Sebastian was late on purpose because he wanted to make an impressive entrance in front of the boutique owner and her assistant.
Miranda had been serving the Delacroix family for such a long time, and she regularly met with many members of the Delacroix family every week. That's why, if Sebastian acted like an enchanted man in front of her, Irene's name would quickly spread throughout the family in a matter of days.
"I thought you wouldn't come." Irene took the roses bouquet and let Sebastian kiss her cheek. She whispered beside his ear, "At least give me a message if you want to do something extraordinary."
Sebastian gave her a sweet smile. "Where's the fun? Your surprise look will make the story more interesting."
"What a talented actor," Irene said sarcastically, smiling like an innocent maiden who was excited as her prince in shining armor came to see her.
Sebastian stepped back, he moved his head up and down to see Irene's appearance. For a while, he only stared at her without saying a single word. "What?" She tilted her body, seeing her reflection in the mirror. "Is there something wrong with this dress?"
