Chapter 17: No Easy Escape

“Who are you and what are you doing in my house?” Demanded a giant of a man. His frame filled the doorway.

His thick finger was the only thing that could make his gun look small. The rest of the gun was more than big enough to blow both their heads off.

Stella squeezed Bennett’s hand. A wave of terror crashed through her.

“If you are as human as you look to be,” Bennett began, “You’d better back off.”

The gun-wielding giant blinked twice.

Stella almost felt bad for him. Shifters could be scary. Especially when you pulled a gun on one.

On second thought. She didn’t feel sorry for him.

From behind Bennett’s muscular shifter body, she glared at the man.

But he was in no mood to back off.

The man and his wrath blocked their exit. The barrel of the gun still pointed at their heads.

“What are you doing here?”

Stella glanced behind her. Wonder where Dana had gotten to. Hadn’t she been right behind them?

“We’re just leaving.” Bennett said through gritted teeth.
