Chapter 18: Another Break In

“Don’t worry Stella.” Bennett Orloff said. As he expertly steered his luxury sedan through the busy streets of Seattle.

They’d just escaped her kidnappers. A rogue member of the Makenzie pack had taken Stella, thankfully Bennett, her shifter neighbor, came to her rescue.

“Why do you think he kidnapped me, Bennett?” It didn’t’ make any sense to Stella. Getting caught in the crossfire the first time could be explained away as just back luck. She’d been almost home and lives right next to Bennett, the real target.

Which was how he’d explained it to her as well.

But now. She’d been kidnapped, right out of her own home.

“He took you, to get to me.” Bennett said, glancing at Stella through the rearview mirror as he drove.

“Do you think he would have killed me?” Stella asked, leaning forward, her eyes locked to his through the mirror.

He flinched. “No.” Bennett said definitively. “Not unless I didn’t come for you.”
