Chapter 24. Gains

It had been about three days since their last battle, the battle with the lusty goat. Ash spent that time divided between meditation, practicing skills, and using the blood affinity.

Grim was getting noticeably faster at using his now, three skills. He was almost at the stage of using [blood let] and [claw swipe] in a couple of seconds. His newest skill, [piercing ray] still had a lot more work to be done. Ash was able to use his two skills more often because of the growth in energy.

Meditation had increased his spirit stat, while experimenting with elemental application slightly increased intelligence. His martial arts practice increased his physical stats such as strength, stamina, agility, and vitality.

Preforming a status check, Ash checked his growth.

Ash was ecstatic about his growth, he had gone up a few levels. Stats grew harder and harder to increase the higher they got.

He took note of the drastic rise in spirit for Grim and his improvement in agility; growth in agility was expected but growth in spirit was hard to do generally speaking. Those were Grim's specialty, and he did not have high expectations for the rest of his stats compared to those two.

Both of their skill sets had reached the familiar stage, except [piercing ray], where they could bring out 20% of their skill. It was a small milestone in the journey of completely understanding a skill. From introduction stage at 10%, to familiar stage at 20%, to accomplished at 40%, to expert at 60%, to master stage at 80%, to unity at 90%, and finally pinnacle stage at 100%.

A feeling of satisfaction rose in Ash, but that was killed by a nasty thought. Neither one of them was particularly talented.
