The morning came quickly as Neo woke up full of excitement for the entrance exam. As he wore fresh clothes that were both mobile and elegant he made his way to the dinning hall. His Grandparents were already there waiting for him. His grandmother asked, "Are you ready for the big day, my child?" Neo nodded although it could be seen that he was a bit nervous. His Grandfather saw this and quickly cheered for him: "You don't have anything to worry about Neo, you should be confident in your strength. A low second rank knight and at the same time a mid first heart mage is unheard of. You are a prodigy that is seen once in a thousand years."
After that they continued their talk over breakfast. Around 7.30 am Neo left for the exam as the exam starts at 9 am. He had talked with Elena that they would meet there thirty minutes prior and talk more about the academy. The trip to the academy was shorter than the previous one as his home was closer to the academy compared to Elena and he was earlier than the time they talked to meet at. Waiting for his friend he looked around the academy.
As Neo was wandering around the academy grounds, he stumbled upon a group of students who were practicing magic in a courtyard. He watched as they cast spells and practiced their incantations, but he noticed that they were making some mistakes that could hinder their performance.
Just as he was about to leave, a professor approached him and struck up a conversation. As they watched the students practicing their magic, Professor Darian turned to Neo and said, "Impressive, isn't it? These young mages have already mastered the basics of magic."
Neo nodded in agreement but added, "Yes, but I noticed a few flaws in their techniques. For example, that student over there is not controlling the flow of magic properly. And the one over there is not using the right amount of mana for that spell."
The professor looked at Neo with surprise and asked, "Really? How do you know?"
Neo replied, "Well, I've been studying magic intensively for the past few years, and I've come across these techniques in my research. Plus, I've also experienced these flaws in my own practice, and I know how to correct them."
The professor smiled and said, "I see. You have a keen eye for magic. I would love to hear more about your insights."
As they continued to watch the students, Neo shared his knowledge with Professor Darian. He explained how to control the flow of magic, how to use the right amount of mana, and how to manipulate the elements to enhance their spells.
The professor was amazed by Neo's knowledge and insights. He realized that Neo was not just a talented student, but a prodigy in the making. He made sure to remember Neo as they parted ways.
After a few minutes, Neo spotted Elena waiting at the entrance of the academy and walked over to join her. They strolled around the sprawling academy building, reminiscing about past entrance exams and discussing their preparations for the day ahead. As the minutes ticked by, the crowd at the entrance swelled to thousands of students, parents, and onlookers eagerly awaiting the start of the exam.
At exactly 9 am, the ancient emerald doors of the academy closed with a resounding thud, signaling the beginning of the exam. The tense atmosphere was palpable as the hopeful candidates took a deep breath and prepared themselves for the grueling tests that lay ahead.
As the crowd of applicants gathered in front of the Emerald Academy, an instructor stepped forward and addressed them. His voice boomed over the chatter of the anxious students, "Welcome to the Emerald Academy, the greatest human academy. Most of you probably know already but the first exam is a written test. The tests will be in classes and everyone will have their exam in the class with the first letter of their name. For example, a Brain will have his exam in class B."
He paused for a moment to let his words sink in before continuing, "I wish you all the best of luck in your exams. May the knowledge and skills you've acquired serve you well. Now, please make your way to your designated classrooms."" As the instructor stepped back, the crowd began to disperse, each student heading in their assigned direction. Elena and Neo said their goodbyes and headed off to their respective classrooms. The tension in the air was palpable, but both Elena and Neo were determined to do their best.
Neo made his way to class N, which was located at the far end of the academy. As he stepped into the classroom, he was taken aback by the sheer size of the room. Only a handful of students were seated, and he found an empty desk to wait for the others. Soon enough, the remaining students trickled in, and the classroom was filled to its capacity.
After about fifteen minutes of waiting, an instructor finally entered the room and closed the door behind him. A palpable silence fell over the room as the instructor started to explain the rules of the exam. Neo could feel the tension building up in the room, and he could sense the nervousness of his fellow students.
The instructor wasted no time and promptly distributed the exam papers to the students. To Neo's surprise, the exam did not seem as daunting as he had anticipated. He quickly got to work, scribbling down his answers with ease.
Neo breezed through the exam until he reached the last question, which stumped him. "What are the Supreme Dao's?" The question left him perplexed. He had read numerous books about different kinds of Dao's, but none of them had ever mentioned the Supreme Dao's. He racked his brain, trying to come up with an answer.
Finally, he scribbled down an answer: "Supreme Dao's are the fundamental rules that govern the universe, and they represent the most potent form of Dao."
Neo wasn't entirely satisfied with his response, but it was the best he could do under the circumstances. He hoped that the rest of the exam had gone well enough to make up for his uncertainty on the last question.
As Neo made his way to the canteen, he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. The exam wasn't as difficult as he thought it would be, and he was confident he had done well. He entered the canteen, and to his surprise, he was the only one there. It seemed that everyone else was still busy with their exams.
He walked up to the counter and ordered some food. The aroma of freshly cooked meals filled his nostrils, and his stomach growled in anticipation. As he waited for his food, he looked around the empty canteen. It was a spacious room with dozens of tables and chairs neatly arranged.
After collecting his food, he headed towards an empty table in the corner of the room. He took a seat and began to eat. The food was delicious, and he savored every bite. As he ate, he thought about the exam and the next stage of the test. He knew that the next round would be even tougher, and he needed to be prepared.
A few minutes later, a tall boy with a tray in his hands walked in and headed towards the counter. After grabbing his food, he looked around the empty canteen and approached Neo's table. "Hey man, I'm Troy. Nice to meet you," he said as he sat down across from Neo, his face beaming with excitement. Neo noticed that Troy had a loud and outgoing personality, and he knew it would be hard to avoid his chatter.
"What's your name, how old are you?" Troy asked, his eyes scanning Neo curiously.
"I'm Neo, and I'm twelve," Neo replied, trying to keep his responses brief.
Troy's eyes widened in surprise. "Only twelve, and you finished before me? I'm already fourteen. I must be getting old, and the new generation is surpassing me," he joked.
They chatted for a while talking about the test, with Troy doing most of the talking, until more people started to trickle in. Troy began to socialize with them, leaving Neo alone once again.
After finishing his meal, Neo headed towards the training center where he met Elena. They discussed the written exam and the questions, and Neo learned that no one in Elena's class could answer the last question either. They speculated about the meaning of the question, but ultimately couldn't come up with an answer.
As time passed, the instructors called for the second exams to begin
