"That sucks," with a pouty face Kevin is still hoping he could get powers that were strong so he could protect his family.

Sarah was also thinking about the powers they could get to protect the family, "Honey could you go into more details on the strengths of the powers we could get?"

"Mom with what we saw in our dream we only survived about less than a year in the apocalypse. So all of our information is only good till that point. I'll let Sam go into detail on the ranks of the super powers. Once he's done I'll talk about the grades of the zombies, plants, monsters, and animals."

Sam clears his throat, "Each different power had many ways different ways to use them. There's the four elements fire, water, earth, and air. Theses were the most common and the easiest to manipulate. It goes from offensive or defensive but it is based on your power rank. The strongest person I can think of was only a rank 7 but he didn't have the four elements it was a mutation or awakening that unlocked it to be a lightning."

"Wait, doesn't that mean we could have a second awakening," Johnathan asked interrupting Sam.

"Yes but it is a rare occurrence and very few succeed to level up," Claire answered him.

"Claire let me explain. You already said I could talk about the powers."

Claire gives her brother an eyeroll.

"As I was saying," Sam clears his throat again to be dramatic. "With each rank you level up to the more stronger you are and the more you can do with the powers you have. Other than the elemental powers there is also healing powers which is what it does heal wounds but there is a limit to how much it could heal until you've ranked it up to fix large wounds."

"There are different kinds of mind powers such as mind control, telekinesis, invisibility, and a shielding ability."

"Mmm," Sam stopped for a moment thinking of the other types of abilities. "Oh yeah, there also physical abilities which means enhanced strength, speed, or even senses. Plus, space abilities of different types too, which are mainly used to store your stuff though but some of them are able to preserve perishables. Though I don't know if it's possible to rank it up to do that or if its because they are different. I do know that as you rank it up the size would get bigger."

"Back to the ranks, again the strongest person was only 7th rank and it took almost a year for them to do that. There was three ways to upgrade your powers. One use it constantly, you your powers till its almost depleted and rest repeatedly. Two you use the corresponding crystals from the monsters as they also have grades and ranks. Lastly you use the crystal roots from people, of which it could awaken others to powers or help mutate your current power you have. I think that's all I can think of about the power us humans could get. Any questions?"

Sam finally finished his lecture and layed on top of the table exhausted.

James was amazed how collected Sam did explaining that he almost didn't ask his question, "... I can understand that using your powers and absorbing crystals will help raise your rank but the last method seems questionable to me? How would another person's crystal root help someone?"

Claire budded in again, "We don't know the exact science but everyone who has powers has grown a crystal root in their brains. How or why, who knows. When someone with a crystal root is given to someone who doesn't will give them that person's power...."

Sam interrupt Claire, "If someone already has a power and is given a crystal root with alter their power in different ways. If it's the same type such as fire to fire power it will either increase your power or awaken a mutation to you power such as changing fire to lightning or water to ice."

Sarah asked, "Why do you know all that?"

"There was a mad scientist that appeared and did human experiments. Actually that is one of the reasons why Annie's family betrayed us. It was to take mine and Claire crystal roots. Annie's parents had power but Annie wasn't able to awaken any. She was a burden but her parents were the only ones who we told of our powers. That's why we all were chased down until me and Claire died."

Sarah bursted into tears. James put his arm around her, "Don't worry we know to keep our distance from them. Plus we won't be neighbors anymore when we leave. They can't follow us."

Claire and Sam nodded with what their dad said.

"Okay, I think it's time to start the explanation on the monsters," Claire went to the next topic about the ranks and grades or monsters.
