Shen Luoyu stared at the mirror in front of her, reflecting back at her was a beautiful girl. Though the girl lacked a bit of baby fat she was still undeniably beautiful. Her skin was like tofu, tender and soft to the touch. Her hair was like black silk, each strand was pin-straight and shone under the light.

Su Ruoyan….that name...it does not belong to her.

Her name was Shen Luoyu, and she died with a bullet through her heart.

The name Su Ruoyan should have died with the girl when fever overtook her.

Instead, the girl had died but Shen Luoyu had been shoved into her body. Shen Luoyu who was but a mere 16 years.. Shen Luoyu who had thought that death was better than the life she was living now, and the fate that awaited her in the future.

You see, Shen Luoyu knew who Su Ruoyan was. She knows her future and her past, she knows things that no one else in the world would know. Shen Luoyu knew the future of the body she was currently residing in, and because she knew...she feared.

Shen Luoyu knew all this because Su Ruoyan and everyone else in this godforsaken world were all characters of a book. A book that she had read in her previous life, a book that dictated her future. Su Ruoyan was the antagonist and like all antagonists, she could never beat the female lead.

In the book, Su Ruoyan had grown up a spoiled child. Being the first child of her parents after 6 years of marriage made her the apple of their eye. Even after her little brother came 6 years after she didn't change anything.

Like any other female villainess Su Ruoyan and the male lead, Mu Fan Xiu knew each other since childhood, and she fell in love with him. The female lead Chun Lian was the abandoned daughter of the Chun family. Compared to Su Ruoyan who spent over a decade trying to make Mu Fan Xiu fall in love with her, Chun Lian succeeded in 3 months.

Like all other cliche novels, Su Ruoyan jealous and outraged at her fiance's actions bullied and tried to scheme against Chun Lian, only to fail miserably.

Mu Fan Xiu ignored everything and focused all his rage onto Su Ruoyan, forgetting their two decades worth of friendship. Her entire family bankrupted, her parents were killed, and her brother crippled. Su Ruoyan who was once a Phoenix was no lower than trash.

Su Ruoyan was later captured by Mu Fan Xiu only to be sold by him to countless men and brutally raped. After breaking her mind and causing her to go insane he tortured her for 12 days and nights in the most inhumane way possible, causing her death.

Shen Luoyu didn't want to accept this at first, adamantly denying her current reality. Constantly telling herself that it was all a dream (it wasn't). Shen Luoyu was a coward, she wasn't like those female leads accepting who she was in an instant, she knew she wasn't Su Ruoyan and knew that this was no longer just a story on the pages of a book. This was her reality now, and if she wanted to live she would also be betting with her life. Shen Luoyu would die if she failed to change her future.

Knowing this made Shen Luoyu even more terrified than she already was. She sobbed all day and spent her time wishing she was home. Her homesickness overtaking her mind and sucking all the energy in her body. Shen Luoyu wanted to go home, to her mom, her dad, and to her beloved sister. She missed her family dearly and regretted that the last thing she had said to them was "I'll be home in a bit, see you later.".

In the end, she never came home, and the last words she said to her parents was a promise she didn't keep.
