Chapter 35

I stare calmly at a pretty girl of about eighteen. She has purple hair, eyes, and fingernails on her dainty hands. She's down on one knee and looking up at me, her face hard to make out what she's thinking, because the mask is still a mask, even though it perfectly contours her form.

"This is the way of God. The unity of the old soul from which the empty soul was born and the new soul that emerged from the reatsu that realized itself. A path not available to me for many reasons. I wonder if she remembers her past life. I guess so, since she changed her name."

- Stop it, Dia. Stand up. We've been over this, haven't we? We need to hurry to the others while this strange paralysis is still affecting the empty people in the neighborhood.

As if hearing me, all the empty ones in the neighborhood start to move. Gon looks around warily; unlike me, who can restore reatsu in many ways, the black-and-white Adyukas need time. With an effort of will, I pull the remains of the staff that couldn't withstand the explosion of reatsu positivity. However, I will not throw away this mountain of wood chips, they will come in handy.

I give my paw to Diana to help her up and already want to start accelerating, as a huge number of system messages just stuns, if not the usual in such cases stop, I would have crashed right on top of the girl!

"I've got a lot of messages in my system, though." - I wondered to myself. I shook my head at Diana's questioning look.

- All later, first we need to arrive at the shelter and regroup.

- All right. (chuckles)

We make it to Botsom and Biokhi in a few quick bursts. The two of them look around warily, uncomprehending, but they relax a little when they see me. Peru-Peru comes out of nowhere, her rabbit ears standing up, showing the extent of her anxiety. The girl looked at Diana in disbelief, cringed a little at her beautiful appearance, and then almost sniffed at Gon.

- Honey, congratulations on becoming Vaster Lord. Aren't you going to introduce us? - Peru-Peru pointed at Gon with her eyes, ignoring Diana.

- All later, at the shelter.

There were no objections.

- ...after Luke Skywalker's death, I used all of my powers to redirect his spirit along the path of the Force back into the past, into his father's body. The plan was for their souls to merge, but unfortunately, I don't know if the plan worked out or not. The last thing I remember is a strange tunnel and then centuries in the dark.  Eh, I hope the boy was able to avert disaster. - Qui-Gon Jinn finished his confession.

There was silence in the assembly hall for a while. Somewhere upstairs there was the muffled echo of the ongoing carnage.

It was a lot to think about. In fact, the dreamer Lucas's fiction turned out not to be fiction at all, but how was that possible? Was he a creator, or a visionary? Can other stories heard and seen on earth be reflected in the universe? It would be great to visit the same Star Wars or Warhammer world and then visit Fairun. I wonder if the children of Oul were able to survive?

The train of thought was interrupted by Bioha's exclamation. The girl grabbed the dazed Gon's hand with trembling hands and mumbled something.

"I probably shouldn't have told tales based on the Star Wars world. Especially not to someone so impressionable..." - Now, watching the girl hug the hand of the uncomprehending Gon, it was hard to tell that she was essentially a robot.

- Request: Mr. Kwai-Gon, please leave your autograph! Please, please, please, please! - Biohee placed Gong's hand between her breasts and looked up into his eyes.

-Yeah. -With what, and where?

Trying to abstract myself from this noisy dialog, I began to ponder our next steps. The plan has completely failed, that's the downside. On the plus side, however, is our rapid development. As far as we can see from the messages, it's no longer worth waiting for a trick from what's in the depths of the planet. The Soulless no longer have any residents in this forest. But! Have we attracted unwanted attention? Aren't there a couple hundred of the same monsters as the recent enemy rushing into our forest right now? And then there are the full ones, destroying all the empty ones, cleansing some forests to zero. Will they arrive in ours? These and many other questions kept me from relaxing now and taking a little break.

"We'll have to use Supermind." - I decided. I might not know much, but even a little bit of information is critical for us right now.

Only I made myself comfortable on the floor, only I wanted to activate the skill, as someone's female palm lay on my head and began to gently stroke me. Diana, without saying a word, with her other hand insistently placed my head on her lap, still stroking.

- No need, trust us. Your power of analysis is too dangerous for Yasu, and we need you to be sane and sober. - Diana continued to pet me like I was some kind of house cat.

Peru-Peru, who was frowning, looked at all this in silence, she had a word with her rival and they came to some agreement. The girls would not interfere with each other, but they would not allow any competitors. Peru-Peru wasn't afraid to lose to this renewed butterfly, because she had a big advantage, as much as two. Yasuna unknowingly sees Peru-Peru as a woman, unlike Diana, because they had sex and she is pregnant by him. That's a very strong advantage.

During these hours of rest, each of the six was busy with his own thoughts.

Someone caught up in a fairy tale come to life, absorbed in their girlish fantasies.

Someone was trying to win back love while simultaneously putting a slightly revised plan into action.

One individual tried to reassure herself by convincing herself that she had an advantage over her competitor.

The newcomer didn't know what to do, but he enjoyed the closeness of the woman's body, his dark side slowly undermining the monolith of his light side, forcing him to take certain actions (even though those very actions were physically impossible).

The leader of the motley group decided to take the advice and refused to take extreme solutions, he was now enjoying the unusual sensations of having his fur touched.

In the corner, the unfortunate Defender, who had practiced so much and had been unable to do anything when faced with a monster of insurmountable power, sighed sadly. Gradually, insecurity appeared in his soul, preventing the two souls from uniting, as in Diana's case.

And thousands of kilometers away from the shelter, on the decomposing corpse of an eight-armed skeleton sat a creature with skin covered with flowers and leaves of all shapes. The Green Man's figure blinked and a green wave erased the corpses of his recent opponents and stopped the flow of liquid darkness from the cracks in the ground. The man stood for a moment, assessing his work, and then sniffed at the reatsu. Not far away, some thousand kilometers away, someone had managed to overpower the Apostle. This interested one of the nine personalities of the Great Complete that was dominating right now.

- Interesting. - A sonorous child's voice utterly unsuitable for the creature known as Evolution Obsessed. - I'll finish the penguin's plan, revise it, head out, take a look.

The Green Man took a step and disappeared from the empty menos forest. He had eight more forests to clear, and then he could have some fun.

Ironically, Yasun's attempt to decrease the chance of one of the full ones appearing in the forest, conversely increased that chance!

***

A fairy fluttered over the sands of the eternal desert. Her violet wings, glowing slightly in the darkness, and a beautiful female figure doing a deadly dance with her weapon, created an ineffable image of a fairy tale, a deadly fairy tale. A flap of wings, a stroke of Naginata, and the head of another mad monster left its owner. Poison sprayed into the atmosphere in the form of purple pollen, paralyzing the strong and killing the weak. Occasionally, an empty man manages to shoot his sero at her, but the rays don't reach the fairy, they get stuck in the yellow shields that the big guy Botsom puts on his partner, guarding her. Occasionally, a futuristic spherical object whizzes past Diana, showering all the aggressive fauna with uninterrupted laser-gray fire. Biokhi, with her little ones, wipes out medium-sized enemies, and Qui-Gon keeps her guarded, correcting the fire on the Vaster Lords and preventing anyone from getting to the girl, who is focused only on one attack.

I'm the guardian of the group, and I'm only involved if there's a monster with special powers on the horizon that might break the trance these four have fallen into. Nearby, Peru-Peru monitors the situation, her sensory abilities not much inferior to Diana's. The girl hasn't noticed yet, but my child's influence has repaired the damaged channels of the regressor and boosted the development of the reatsu. The regression has been defeated. She may be a child, she may be the latest to become a Vaster Nobile just a few hours ago, but now she has a future.

Because none of us were absorbing the slain Voidlings, they were decaying and saturating the atmosphere with negative reatsu, and at some point there was so much of it that a chain reaction began.

The reatsu that had just been stationary, as if obeying someone's orders, moved and rushed towards the liquid that was gushing out of the depths.

- Botsom set the defenses to maximum, or we'll be blown away! - I shouted, duplicating the order with my thoughts.

The strongest wind caught us under the owl's multi-layered protection. It bent, but it held.

The trees holding up the vault began to lurch, cracking and threatening to break. The reatsu pressure hit many of the void and dragged them towards the rift, dissolving them into a white substance along the way. This white stuff flowed into the cracks in the ground, dislodging the pounding and creating a sort of plug. It lasted for quite a while, and I even had to start feeding our walking fortress with reatsu.

I don't know what I was expecting. Maybe another battle? Maybe a little clue that would help answer the question, "What's going on?!" But reality turned out to be stupidly absurd. Everything somehow stopped at once, and mushroom trees began to grow in place of the cracks! In a few minutes they reached the vault and their white trunk turned gray.

A hush descended on the forest.

-The question is, what now?

But no one answered. What to do next was not clear to me.

"We must have killed the requisite number of menos to seal the cracks. But then why are there no reports?"

-Wait. There may be some unknowable process going on in the depths right now. Botzom, how long will you last?

- Lord, no more than as long as I held the shield before. - The owl whispered. He wasn't lacking in reatsu, but the mental fatigue was building, even with my transfer of mental power.

- Q: Mr. Ghosn, may I stand next to you?

- Biokhi, you don't need to ask my permission for things like that. - The Jedi sighed. But looking at the girl, he only said doomfully. - I can.

-Happiness: Thank you teacher!

Zing!

The space right next to us opened up into a black void, inviting us to step into the unknown. My partners immediately fell silent and prepared to fight. I put my hand up in a stopping gesture, for Biokhi was ready to fire her cannon.

- I created it, this passageway. Behind it will be our next target. I don't know what's waiting for us there, so get ready to take the fight right away when you come out of these doors. - At the same time as the briefing, I'm studying the information on this "dungeon".

A spatial passageway to a pseudo world on the outer shell of the world of Hueco Mundo.

Be careful, the environment of the pre-astral area will affect you negatively.

GP Barrier:

Temple of the Apostle 153 Controversy.

Recommended level 200 (reduced from 400 due to the killing of the Apostle on the Hueco Mundo plan)

Enemies: Dreams of the Astral Parasite

Size: 4 levels

Number of bosses: 5

When you enter the VP barrier you will be given a task.

We do not recommend staying in the Barrier for more than 24 hours.

After 27 hours 48 minutes 12 seconds, the Astral Parasite will assume its true form.

Protocol Gamer Menosa Yasuna altered the Astral Parasite, creating this dungeon. However, the creature is constantly trying to regain its original form. Heroes! Destroy the Divine Spore that is the focus of the creature parasitizing the world!

I recounted what I'd seen to the team. They just shrugged their shoulders, not expressing any surprise; it was nothing, really, to go and kill some parasite, with our forces it was no problem. But something made me uncomfortable, I didn't believe that everything would be so easy, there must be some kind of trick.

I looked at the meter. Time's running out. I don't know why, but my gut was screaming that it was vital to complete this task.

-Come on. - I was the first to enter the passage, and the rest of the group followed me. I felt a gentle tugging upward, and then we were all in a strange place. I stand up in a fighting stance and prepare to attack or defend myself.

But no one attacked. We found ourselves in a courtyard in front of a dilapidated castle that must have belonged to a giant! The gate alone was fifteen meters high.  The left gate was slightly ajar, as if inviting us to a feast at the ogre's house.

-Oh. Honey!

-Yasu!

I turn toward the exclamations and there are two girls, not blank, not a rabbit and a fairy, but very real people! Peru-Peru was wearing a dark pink colored nun's cassock with a Playboy label on the front.

The weapon in her right hand is a scepter with a rabbit's head pommel.

Diana, on the other hand, wore a ninja costume, but the strange thing was that she still had her weapons on her, unlike me or Botsom

Botsom was not an upright owl, but a knight with a drop shield and a sword in its scabbard was staring at his gloved hands. The armor was the color of a raven wing and glistened slightly in the light.

Already realizing what had happened, Qui-Gon looked exactly like the actor who had played him in the movie. The only thing unusual was the two-bladed staff instead of the standard Jedi sword. Clutched in the tall man's hand was a petite Biokhi, who had had her age dropped to thirteen or so, her appearance otherwise unchanged. On the girl's back hung a futuristic high-tech bow.

I, on the other hand, turned into SuNa, only younger and with a whole eye.

I grin to myself, stroking the sleeping dragons on my skin. Each touch to the sleeping tattoos gives a strange response. It's as if each of the dragons is saying "It's not time" I agree with them. The time will not come soon enough. As usual I am pulled out of my thoughts, lasting only a second, by the system confirming my suspicions.

Zing!

You are in an artificial reality created from the Astral Parasite, using the Gamer Protocol!

Your team is subject to game conventions!

Each member of the group was sealed into an illusory avatar.

Skills, race specific abilities were partially sealed!

Only neutral and class powers (abilities/skills, etc.) are available.

Warning. To use some of the minus powers, summon a mask!

Be careful, the mask destroys the illusory avatar. If it dies, you will be thrown into the world of Hueco Mundo.

The gamer's protocol is not advanced enough! For the duration of the walkthrough, it will be blocked by game convention.

Enjoy the game!

I tried calling up the menu for fun. It didn't come up at all. I was not an empty Yasuna, but an asura monk Yasuna.

-It's very problematic. As you've all probably noticed we've changed, but don't worry, it's only temporary. Once we pass this castle, he's waving toward the giant's fortress. - Our disguises will be printed. As far as I understand, it is impossible to use sero, sonido and our special abilities of the empty ones here. I suggest we take it all as a special training, I don't think level two hundred monsters will give us any trouble. We've got 27 hours to do this. Ideally everyone has received a commensurate replacement for the lost powers, it is also possible to summon a mask and thus regain some abilities, such as gray. However, you shouldn't, and I'll tell you why in a moment.

I put my hands behind my back and walk back and forth in front of my dazed comrades, trying to distract them and bring them out of their shock. Although the same Diana reacts more or less adequately. Unlike Peru-Peru, whose thoughts can be read in her lustful eyes.

- Our form is temporary, an illusion my power sealed us into so that we could reach Ritia'o's concentration and destroy it once and for all. If we were empty now, the parasite would regenerate immediately under the influence of our negative reatsu, probably consuming us as well. I've been told by the system that if the avatar is destroyed, we'll be thrown into Hueco Mundo, but it's best not to take any chances. Any questions?

- Lord, I feel strange, as if something from my memories is trying to break through. I know how to hold this sword properly, how to strike, how to put up a proper shield, but where did all this knowledge come from? - Botsom wasn't looking at me, he was mesmerized by the play of light on the blade and absorbed in something distant. - Look.

Suddenly, the man slammed his sword against the shield. A muffled thud echoed through the space around him. It was followed by the sound of creaking shutters. I turned my attention to them and saw a hedgehog about six meters tall, with skulls on needles, trying to squeeze through the flaps. Above the hedgehog there is an inscription like in the games: Skullcrusher of 200 level.

"Strange. My eyes see his data, but it's like my brain can't comprehend it. All I see are blurred lines."

We all watch the creature of someone's nightmare with interest. Biokhi pulls out a bow from behind his back, twirls it this way and that, then points it toward the stuck monster and makes a motion like pulling a bowstring. I look at the girl, then at the monster. She releases her hand, and without any special effects, the monster's eye explodes with a spray of blood.

-Verdict: That's funny.

The life bar above the monster went into the yellow zone.

- Does anyone else but me see the name and the streak of life above the critter?

Everyone saw it.

Biokhi was sending invisible arrows into the monster with increasingly heated enthusiasm, gradually lowering its health. In the meantime, we carefully began to approach the flaps.

- Gon, how do you wield your weapon?

- Padawan level. As a youth, some elective training, but no experience with staff combat.

-Try using the force on him.

Gon waved his hand toward the half-dead hedgehog, and an invisible wave slammed the monster into the wall, finally killing it.

The monster on the first floor has been killed. There are still 49 more beasts to go before the Alpha appears.

-Well, it worked. - The man was surprised, and explained his surprise: "It doesn't feel strong at all, and I thought the push wouldn't work.

- Praise: Gon, you're so cool! - Biokhi ran up and smiled radiantly at the Jedi, who stroked her hair.

-Looks like we need to kill these monsters to complete our mission. Yasu, I feel like I can control shadows and use poison, but not a strong one. How should we proceed? Should I go scouting?

-No. -It's dangerous, we'd better go in order. First Botsom and I, we'll be the first to engage, then you go, Diana, along with Peru-Peru, cover her, she's the only one who can repair damage with her pheromones, isn't she? - The rabbit nodded and in confirmation exhaled a pink powder in my direction that made my whole body itch.

- Unfortunately, healing is the only thing I'm capable of right now. I'm afraid I won't be able to reinforce the golems, either. - She made a sad face. - And I'm not that strong without my abilities, and I'm the weakest if I'm honest....

I put my arms around the girl, stroking her back.

- Nothing, nothing, we'll pass this fortress and our strength will return.

- All right, we'll be followed by Biokhi and Qui-Gon. Be on your guard while moving, enemies can attack from any plane, even the ceiling, so don't yawn.

The six of us slowly entered the fortress.

***

The Green Man poked his finger with interest at the strange portal in the forest where one of the targets had recently been killed.  As soon as the Supreme Complete had arrived in this forest, he had immediately smelled its strangeness. The reatsu here was not as foul as in the others, though it was quite negative. Another oddity was the complete lack of void ones, which were impossible to push away during exhalation. And here, as the apotheosis of weirdness, was this portal.

The Green Man had been running circles around this thing for an hour now, trying to study it and feel it somehow, but as luck would have it, his main body, spilling out within a couple hundred kilometers, didn't want to see the portal at all.

This was the first time he regretted his semi-material essence. In fact, all Supreme Complete are huge clouds of intelligent reatsu attached to an anchor-body. Even if the anchor is destroyed, the main body will materialize it again after a while, and as long as there is reatsu, the Supreme Complete cannot be killed permanently, only dispelled for a while. But because of this, the Highest are permanently attached to Hueco Mundo, they can only send their anchors to other worlds, which lose the lion's share of their abilities when they are away from their base.

Now, because of all these peculiarities of his existence, Green couldn't decide whether to go to the other world, with a chance for a couple centuries of divorce, or not to risk it.

Here he hesitated for a moment and pressed his finger a little on the portal, and fell completely into darkness.

The foundation cloud continued to hover over the forest, its mental probes searching for an anchor, and failing to find one, it struck the surrounding space gray with frustration. The entire hundred-kilometer radius in which it hung. The portal was buried under tons of sand, and on the other side, a level 1141 druid named Zelech fell out into the courtyard in front of the fortress.

Twenty hours earlier.

Level 1. Animal Corridor.

Mission received!

"The Spore of Scourge."

Once an unintelligent Astral God obeying his instincts released a Spore into the world, infecting nearby worlds and several beings.

Find and destroy the Desecrating Spore that consumed Ritia'o, thus finally killing one of the two hundred Apostles of ???.

1.  Kill the four incarnations of the Apostle's corruption, thus opening the way to the sanctuary

2.  Desecrate the Altar of God

3.  Kill the Incarnation of the Apostle's mind.

4.  Destroy or cleanse the spore from its filthiness.

Rank: ?

Reward: Variable

Failure: Death, Mutation or Desecration

The inscription appeared as soon as we entered the gate. And this wide corridor, its ceiling lost somewhere in the darkness, lived up to its name. Beasts of all shapes and sizes. From hedgehogs to gorillas, they roamed everywhere, doing things they only knew how to do.

- Biohee, shoot that hedgehog over there, the one farthest away from the whole crowd.

I vaguely remembered the laws of the game, but logically speaking, hitting one could attract the enemies closest to him. They may not look particularly strong, but there are fifty of them! We'll be crushed if they all come at once.

The girl took the Skullcrusher's eye with a precise shot. The animal roared and sprinted at us like a bull, accelerating to slam into the barrier that flared in front of Botsom's shield.

I flanked the raging monster, and with the cover of Bioha's arrows, I leapt toward the monster and swung my fist straight at the hedgehog's empty eye socket. I bounce back, pushing my foot away from the nose of the creature trying to bite me.

Taking advantage of the monster's distraction, Botsom slashes at the exposed neck with his sword, and Diana, who has gotten behind his back, begins to strip the monster's short legs. A couple minutes and it's done.

  - That's how it works. Biokhi, give me that bear. - I pointed to a three-meter-long, six-armed bear with a reptilian tail scratching its head.

Two hits to the bear's eyes were enough. The blinded monster was easy prey for Biokhi, who calmly shot the maddened bear from a distance.

From there, the routine began. The girl got into the taste, sending one arrow after another without interruption.

A couple of times the monsters managed to get to us, but Botsom calmly took them on his shield, and Diana and I circled around and finished them off. Gon never got to join the game. Even I was getting interested in just having fun killing all sorts of different critters.

But the games ended when the last gorilla fell to the floor, showering the blood-covered floor with its brains.

You have killed 50 out of 50 monsters.

Alpha's not happy!

Only a timely use of the experienced Gong's jolt of strength saved our lives.

A fat humanoid ten meters tall with three heads: Wolf in the middle, Stag with fancy antlers on the left, and Rooster on the right, appeared in the center of the corridor and with a wave of his hand sent a stream of air at us under such pressure that the rest of the monsters were ground into a bloody mess. Gon used a push, in which he put half of his strength, slightly weakened the wave. But even weakened, it deprived Botsom of half of his health, and we, who had taken cover behind the knight's back in time, were splashed with a bloody wave.

-All of you to the sides! - Gon yells, and he picks up a faltering Biokhi and jumps back a few meters.

Everyone had time to bounce back.

Something heavy and large collapsed onto the spot where we had just been standing, shaking the entire hall.

Six eyes burning with hatred stared at me from the dust cloud.

Alpha.

400 ur.

Elite Floor Boss.

Leap; Call of Alpha; Air Ram; Ritual Dance of Fury; ?????

Monster swings his paw.

I grin in response.

"That's it!"

I'm clenching my fists until they bleed.

"For that is how I will be able to accept my past."

"After all, that's how I can find my way."

"And that's how I'm going to find my daughter!"
