This story is a sequel to my first story, Secret Powers Within and my other story Started With a Mission. In this story however; Kelsey has to leave her home to find where she comes from and who she is, but she also has to fight a new enemy and finds someone she was certain she was never going to see again. Along with a new person she's never even heard of. Who is she? Where is she from? And what is in store for her now? As for Skye, she further goes on a journey of self reflection and is still learning what it means to have others care about her. All while fighting both internal and physical battles, one battle of which requires both at once... what is she truly capable of?
Kelsey
After Drake dropped Skye off with Dylan, he met me at the pack house for me to start Luna training. Have to say I'm a little nervous.
"Okay, something for you to realize; the pack will look to both of us for answers to their questions." Drake started.
"What kind of questions would they have?" I asked, slightly worried.
"Well, for the first little while they'll be dicks and ask you extremely stupid, unimportant questions just to annoy you, but after that they'll start wanting your advice and leadership. And whatever you can't answer you can always come to me, cause I'll be right here at your side for every second of it." Drake answered, gently grabbing my hands then holding them up a little to kiss them and smiled at me. I smiled back and said okay, pulling my mate into a hug. "So, you already have the leadership trait, we just need to train you on how to... sometimes not have so much sass and attitude, and make you able to not scare the omegas of the pack as much." Drake chuckled after hugging for a minute or two then pulled away.
We trained till about midnight and decided we should probably go to sleep, since again there is school tomorrow. I sprawled on top of Drake, said goodnight and went to sleep. When we woke up it was already almost time to get to school, but since school is boring and we learn nothing useful we took our time getting ready and driving there. Walking into English I could tell something was off between Dylan and my sister. I noticed she had earbuds in, she has never once done that before, and Dylan looked like his world ended but was hiding it well. No idea how I could tell but I could, I asked Kat and Drake through mind link if something seemed off to them but they both answered no. I didn't hear a single thing Mr. H said and constantly shot confused glances back at them. When ceramics came around I sat tapping my foot waiting for Dylan to catch up.
He finally did and as he sat down I demanded, "Okay fucking spill. What happened yesterday?" He faked being taken aback and tried telling me he didn't know what I was talking about. I stared at him blankly, clearly not believing his words.
Dylan sighed, dropping his facade and said, "Can't fool you either huh..?" He sighed again and added, "Please, please, please do not tell Skye that this happened.... I can't hurt her that badly even though it was assault on my end..." My brain slowly put the pieces together, he was stuck talking with the bitches all class yesterday so they clearly took a 'liking' to him. Realization dawned on me before he even answered what happened.
"She kissed you, didn't she." I stated more than asked.
"How'd you know??" Dylan asked, surprised.
I sighed and replied, "The bitch did the same thing to Drake. She ambushed him at the water fountain a couple months ago."
"Least you guys got past it.... If she finds out that bastard did that..... I don't think she'll ever trust a single being on this planet except for Roxie.....she already doesn't trust me anymore... she's completely blocked me out.... " Dylan murmured, looking at the table in heartbroken defeat.
"I won't tell her, but if she asks about it being something with that slut I'm not sure I can lie and say it wasn't... but I'll try my best to make her not hate you for something that's not your fault." I tried reassuring, not sure it worked very much though.. Dylan gave me a tiny hint of a smile and murmured a thanks. We got to working on our projects, by we I mean I since all Dylan did all class was draw broken hearts like a kid from highschool musical or some shit. But I felt bad that he was hurting that much over something he was forced into. Surely Skye would forgive him and just murder Agatha, right...? I hope she doesn't murder Dylan too... he's a nice friend who doesn't deserve to die from a whore forcefully kissing him. "Actually that technically is sexual assault. How'd I not realize that way damn sooner?" I quietly said aloud by accident.
"Well yeah, but as true as that is it doesn't change the fact that Skye would never trust anyone ever again. She's terrified of opening up because every person that's ever been in her life used her then stabbed her in the back and threw her away. She's probably managed to convince herself I don't want to be with her, which would never happen cause she's all I want in my life. I could be broke and homeless and be just fine so long as I had her. You know how long it took me to get her to admit she trusts me? Five god damn fuckin years. If I knew her sooner it'd probably be more like ten fucking years. The only other person she trusts is Lily. That's it. Everyone else before that screwed her over or stabbed her in the back so many fucking times that she just never trusts anyone anymore. Her move to where we live now was her chance to change how people saw her and she took advantage of it. Making sure to be such a bitch no one but people like us that could see through it would stick around." Dylan ranted, I could hear the undertone of absolute despair in his voice.
"Wish I could actually help you... but best I can do is try to convince her to still trust you since it's all Agatha's fault.. and try to explain that your lying is your way to protect her from further pain despite how much the lying hurts." I responded softly.
"It's appreciated.. but she'll be too pissed at herself for opening up to believe you, and there's nothing more than that either of us can do.." He replied, packing his stuff and leaving since class was now over. I sighed and did the same, except on the way out I saw him go into the bathroom with a visibly clenched jaw. In math the stupid bitches wouldn't leave him alone again—even though he came in late—so to attempt saving his ass with Skye I put a smirk on my face and strode over to their table.
"Hey Noah, I couldn't help but notice you trying to figure out how to shoot yourself without a gun and thought I'd invite you to come sit at our table. Lots more fun over there, with a hell of a lot less shitty prostitutes terribly flirting." I offered. He flashed a quick grateful smile and thanked me as he stood, causing the stupid squad to collectively gasp in offence and glare after us as we sat back at my table. I sassily smirked over at them, flipping my hair as I faced away from them.
"Holy fuck thank you so much..." Dylan sighed in relief.
"What else are friends for?" I replied, giving him a soft smile.
"Now if only S— Jada could join us." Drake whispered. Dylan physically tensed and looked as though he was strongly fighting the urge to look back at her. I stole a glance for him and saw her intently drawing or writing away in her binder.
"Wonder what she's doing..." I quietly muttered, almost not even hearing myself.
"Probably drawing different ways she'd kill me for lying to her..." Dylan painfully muttered back as he stared at the table.
"Hey if anything it's ways of killing the dumbasses over there." I tried cheering him up a little, but again it didn't work..
End of class came and Dylan quickly packed up and left after murmuring, "Thanks for trying so hard, but nothing will change the fact that she legitimately hates me.." Drake and I watched him go sadly, both of us wishing we could fix everything for them. In drawing, Skye sat across the table from me so around mid-class I stood and sat directly beside her then yanked her earbuds out.
"Ow. The fuck is your problem." She growled at me, trying to put them back in her ears. I unplugged them from her phone completely and shoved them down my shirt so she couldn't get them back.
"Wow. Real mature of you." She muttered, rolling her eyes and pulling out her binder.
"The fuck is YOUR fucking problem." I demanded.
"I don't have a fucking problem, unless you being pissed at me for no damn reason counts." She retorted, scoffing at me.
"I want you to tell me what's wrong Skye." I said, slightly softening my tone.
"Pf. Nothing, that's what. According to Dylan the dipshit anyways." She muttered, glaring at a wall.
"And what'd he do to make you so pissed as to push everyone away?" I questioned. She rolled her eyes again.
"Lied to me, indirectly admits he's lying but still refuses to tell the truth. Gave him the choice of either telling the truth, lie way god damn better and we would've left school together, or he continued to terribly lie to me and he found his own damn way home. Guess which one he chose." Skye answered, adding snippy sarcasm to the last sentence. I sighed, seriously wishing I could explain exactly why he's lying to her, but I promised Dylan I wouldn't do that. Plus I didn't want her to commit direct murder at school.. to either one or more people... Or have a dragon running around angrily burning the school down.
"What do you do all class in your binder anyways?" I asked, changing the subject. She stared at me with a pissed off look then took a page out of her binder and held it by her head. It was a drawing of the stupid squad being brutally murdered. Well.... least I called it. I nodded, feeling slightly awkward and worried I've put myself on her bad side. Then I realized something.
"Wait, since when could you draw that amazing and detailed?" I asked, genuinely curious.
For point two seconds Skye had that 'oh SHIT' face but quickly hid it like her drawing and scoffed, "I just traced different things I found." Then packed all her stuff up and left, even though class wasn't over yet.
"Uh excuse me Jada, where do you think you're going? Class doesn't end for another fifteen minutes." The teacher called after her.
"Bite me." She growled in response on her way out the door. Well so much for her trying to have everyone here like her. Ugh... Her and Dylan are clearly meant for each other, like fuck they keep dramatically packing up and leaving when I talk too much for their liking. After school I had more Luna training, then went back to bed to do this shit all over again tomorrow. I just hope the dumb bitches start leaving Dylan alone...
