Chapter 108 The Villain's End

[Kaede POV]

Inside AFO's Subconciousness...

"Ugh, my head...." Midoriya groaned in discomfort.

We were currently in a place that fits the description of a desolate wasteland. It was a flat, barren land with remnants of dead plants. The sky above us was dark, with thunderstorms echoing loudly.

Shoto took a deep breath: "So this is AFO's mind space?"

"Not exactly," I answered as they both gave me a confused look: " AFO and Tomura merged, remember? This is why the place looked so dead and chaotic as their two minds were clashing with each other. But from the looks of it, AFO's currently the one in control."

"Does that mean we will be able to meet both of them?" Midoriya asked.

I nodded: "That's why we have to be careful. Things won't go well for us if we fail here..." After all, by entering people's subconsciousness we were also putting ourselves at risk.

We wandered in one random direction, hoping to find something, we continued to walk until we stumbled upon a withered tree. What's shocking was the figure embedded in the tree in a crucified position. Blood ran down from the man's body, colouring the bark red.

"Tomura...." Midoriya muttered.

As he approached Tomura, I stopped him: "Midoriya-kun, are you sure you're going to do this?"

Midoriya nodded" "I'm sure, and even if he's a villain, I want to try to save him," he answered with confidence.

I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose: "What if he didn't want your help? Do you have the courage to end his life?"

Midoriya clenched his fist: "Don't worry about me. I have already accepted that something like that will happen. I won't be a burden to the both of you..."

"You and your hero complex," I chuckled tiredly, "Okay, do whatever you have to do, Shoto and I will try to protect you."

Midoriya nodded as he walked up to the unconscious Tomura. He seemed to be talking to himself and I assume that Midoriya was having a conversation with the previous users of One For All. He placed his hand on top of Tomura's head and closed his eyes.

A white aura covered Mirodiya and Tomura's bodies as the light illuminated our surroundings. Tomura groaned and whatever Midoriya has done seemed to be working.

"Do you think I will allow you to do as you please?!" A loud voice bellowed.

I turned my head and saw AFO flying to us: "I have to praise you for getting here in the first place but this will be as far as you go..." He applauded and his tone was full of sarcasm.

I dashed at AFO and aimed for his heart. However, he dodged and with a confident smile. The villain ignored me and went straight after Miodirya. Thankfully, Shoto was prepared and created a gigantic ice barrier as AFO's fist bounced off of the wall.

"I will protect Midoriya!" Shoto shouted, "Go get him!"

I smiled and stared at him with my Rinnegan: Shinra Tensei!"

BOOM

AFO's body was launched away like a ragdoll and I pursued him with Kamui.

AFO slowly got back up as he glared at me"You bitc..." Before he could finish hurling his insult, I drove my katana into his throat.

I clicked my teeth knowing that this won't finish him off. I jumped away as he let out a flurry of attacks in front of him. I stared at the villain and he grinned maliciously: "What are you smiling for?" I growled.

AFO laughed: "Do you heroes really think you will succeed? I will kill you and everyone you love!" He shouted.

Afo spread his arms and black figures emerge from the ground. They come in different heights and shapes as they're covered in a dark mist, obscuring their facial features. Their numbers span to at least fifty as the black apparitions surrounded me.

"Didn't know you got ghosts living in your head," I joked to reduce my nervousness.

"Still making jokes huh? These were the vestiges of all the users of the quirk I have taken," AFO announced with pride: "Soon, your quirk will be mine as well!"

My expression darkened. How many people's lives have AFO run by stealing quirks? I shuddered at the mere thought and I felt my anger flaring up...

[3rd POV]

AFO watched with amusement as Kaede became silent: "It's exactly what you think, woman, children, I couldn't care less. The only thing that matters was their quirks!"

Kaede's body shook and slowly lowered her blade. AFO laughed even more as he continued to provoke her: "How they beg and beg to have their power returned to them, they will do anything I said, it's really amusing to see the extent that humans could do to satisfy their desires...."

Kaede gritted her teeth and stared at the ground. AFO couldn't see her facial expression but he guessed that she was distraught by the information. He had played enough as he commanded one of the ghosts to kill her.

*Shwing*

Before the vestige could even reach arm's length, its body was suddenly split in half. Kaede's blade was so fast that AFO was only perceiving a brief flash of the sharp steel edge. The ghost was then absorbed into Kaede's body. Countless emotions flowed into Kaede's brain and her scowl deepened.

The vestige was fully absorbed using Daikoku, Kaede felt the pain, suffering and fear of that vestige as if she was right there watching AFO taking away that person's quirk. Kaede couldn't use the quirk she absorbed and was glad that wasn't the case. Or else Kaede would feel horrible and a hypocrite as she was no worst than AFO.

"What...." AFO muttered with shock, he felt the disconnection with that particular vestige and soon realises he no longer have that specific quirk.

Kaede raised her head as she glared at the villain. The intensity and the furious expression on Kaede's face caused AFO to instinctively shudder. However, that fear transformed into anger: "Me Afraid?!" He roared.

More Vestiges attacked but they were instantly slashed into pieces before being consumed by Daikoku. AFO charged as he desperately tried to stop Kaede. He punched but his face was full of shock as Kaede easily blocked with her wrist.

"Impossible....." AFO muttered with disbelief, he couldn't comprehend what was happening and the villain expected the punch would send Kaede flying.

"How..." AFO uttered.

Kaede grabbed his hand and twisted. AFO grunted as he was forced onto his knees: "You should have already known the answer right? I'm stronger than you...." Kaede stated calmly.

"LIES!!!" AFO roared but his face paled as chakra gathered in Kaede's left hand.

Without hesitation, Kaede drove the Rasengan into AFO's stomach and he was sent sprawling into the distance. AFO coughed up a mouthful of blood: "KILL HER!!!"

All of the vestiges rushed at once and they attacked with their quirks. Kaede elegantly avoided each attack like a professional ballerina and with each swing of her katana, a vestige fell and AFO's strength became weaker.

Kaede felt every last emotion of the vestiges as her body trembled from the negative feelings. However, this fueled her with emotion and Kaede was determined to set everything right.

Watching his effort being destroyed, panic crept into AFO's heart.

"Wait..." One vestige goes down.

"No stop...."

Kaede ignored his plead as the last vestige disappeared and with that, everything was lost for AFO. With nothing left, AFO's skin began to wrinkle as he no longer have the Long Life Quirk and with his Regeneration gone, his body could no longer support the side effects of Doctor Garaki's experiments.

Kaede took a shaky breath and looked at the villain who became nothing but a shrivelled old man. She placed her blade by AFO's throat and her heart slightly wavered. She sighed before sheathing her blade: "It's over, surrender yourself...."

AFO didn't reply as he glared at her with pure hatred. Hearing no response, Kaede clenched her fist and turned her back on the villain. It's no point killing him anymore, AFO doesn't have long to live anyways and he couldn't no longer harm anyone...

AFO gritted his teeth: "Y...YOU!" He used the last of his strength and lunged at Kaede but she instantly swung around. With a smooth motion, AFO's head disconnected from his body as the villain's corpse collapsed with a thud.

Kaede shook her head with dissatisfaction before silently stabbing into AFO's chest and using Daikoku. Not even a corpse remained as Kaede drained the villain of everything and after decades of chaos, AFO has fallen...
