Betrayer!

Jake was on his way heading home. Pete and Dominic were with him in the car. He was busy going through his laptop and checking some of the work he had asked Dee to help him do while he was away from his work. 

He was pleased with the neatness of her work and couldn't stop smiling. 'Damn baby, you've done it I love you,' he thought to himself as he persuade through the entire document.

Dominic and Pete watched the smile on his face. They knew the source of his happiness. They have been seeing it nowadays and they were happy for him.

"Don't you think you've built lots of castles ever since we left the house?" Asked Dominic as they took a shape corner.

"Stop putting on my business, just mind yours," told Hake as he lifted his head to look outside.

He loved the way trees were moving with the car, and still members when he was young and would think that trees were moving. His sister and he would always do their little scream and disturb their mother by telling her to stop the car. She never minded stopping the car because die would let them believe the trees were moving with them only that it was not moving.

He looked at the other document, hiding his face in the screen, he didn't want Dominic looking at his work. 

He then saw a personal email from Dee's email and quickly looked at it.

"Wow, she performed excellently I'm her exams!" Shouted Jake. 

"Really? You've never gotten this excited by anyone performing well?" Asked Dominic.

"Here," he shows Pete who showed the screen to Dominic. 

"This is a really good dude, what are you planning to give her?" Asked Dominic. 

"I told her that I will get her anything," he said as he tried to think of the best thing.

"As long as you are not giving her the work, because we hate Mars and Pluto is a no go zone place," said Pete jokingly.

They both laughed at his statement. 

"Come to think of it, why would you even say that I will give you the whole world?" Asked Dominic.

"Trust me that statement used to be the hot cake while seducing a girl in high school, and nowadays it doesn't make sense," added Pete.

"There is this time, I wanted this lady and I told her she is the fish in my lake and she threw food on my face and told me to go fuck myself," said Jake.

"But the truth is, we all used to love using them to seduce people thinking that they were cool. What about these days?" Asked Dominic.

"Dude, nowadays the world is filled up, people have been through a lot. The moment you tell a girl I don't know you are the only fish in my lake, I don't know you are one in a million. It doesn't make sense to them. They just need the truth from you. It's either you live them or you just let them be. Don't lie to them about shit. I remember when I saw Dee for the first time, I was intrigued and I hated the way my friends, especially Alfred talked to her. I could t do anything and that day I went to my bed with a heavy heart. I divided to just cit every one of them off because I couldn't imagine that this is the way they could treat a lady. Matter of fact, Alfred had an expectant wife and all he could do was throw some shitty words at a young girl? I decided to make it my work to apologise to her. Turns out she was used to being called names and took it like any other insult. The moment she spoke to me, her words were pure from her mouth and I couldn't keep myself from thinking about her. I wanted to do everything but not tell her how I felt because that would mean I am serious about it. She is young, maybe she jas seen many romance stories and the heartbreak in those romances is something else. I didn't one to be the guy who just tells her how I live her without showing the actions. So I decided to try and see if it will work. The moment I decided to say it, it came out awkwardly and I couldn't imagine I had become a celibate because I wanted only her?" 

Listening to him, they all knew Jake. He would never tell someone how he lives them, except for his sister. They knew that was one hell of a story that needs to be in a soap opera and it would earn a lot of cash.

The silence prevailed in the car as each of them digested Jake's words. For once he was a cupid adviser, if you could have let him some seven months ago, he would not have time for you anything important about love. 

"What is love?" He would have asked you, "get yourself good sex and go on with your life."

"So, have you thought of anything special?" Asked Pete.

Jake wanted to say something but he heard his phone migrate from his pocket, he quickly removed it and realised that it was The inspector.

"Good evening?" Greeted Davids.

"No one is you g to testify, all those who wanted to testify have recoiled and they have said they would rather let the issue lie than go and to the stand!" Said the inspector. 

Jake clenched his hand into a fist after listening to inspector Diaz speak about the issue. They had given the guys assurance that things I'll be okay and all they needed to do was keep it to themselves rather than talk to people. The witnesses were people they only knew, how comes somebody else knew about them?

His anger was burning through his throat, as he felt hos body construct because of it, he punched the seat beside him and Dominic brought the vehicle to a sudden screech making the tires burn.

"What's wrong?" Asked Dominic.

"No one is going to testify!" Shouted Jake as he punched the seat again. 

"What do you mean, we gave worked hard for this to make sure that everyone testifies and keep this issue under co troll!" Shouted Dominic.

"Who else knew about the operation?" Asked Jake.

"No one, it was just us, 'claire' and The inspector!"

"I think someone here is betraying us, someone is doing the best to make sure the issue doesn't get out and we are going to do everything until everyone testifies whether they love it or not!" Shouted Jake.

"Can your girlfriend now!" Shouted Hake as he looked at his phone.  

Dominic quickly died his girl's number, "what it is now?" 

"We don't have our witnesses, and we need to know what happened!" Shouted Jake back to her.

"Can't this wait till morning and who again told you they are not going to testify because I just used my whole two weeks Nikki g into those guys like my life depended on it?" Shouted Claire back.

"I do t know, but the inspector has just told us that and I am wondering where did he get the I formation?" Asked Jake.

"What do you mean, the inspector, you guys never told that there was someone like an inspector in your fucking investigation. Dominic, when was the last time you heard me adding any plans in future " Shouted Claire at Dominic now.

"You a know that, the mother ticket might have sold you out and probably work g with the bad guys but you didn't event theme that you had an authority in your plan?" Asked Claire in anger.

"Baby, we just wanted someone on our side," defended Dominic.

"Rick you and someone by your side, I knew very we when I did t want police in this. You better go to the fucking man's house and make sure he is clean before I rain my anger upon you all! Make sure he tells you what happened and how he knew that they were not going to testify, or else I am done with you and I better do this all alone that have your asses waste my time!" 

Clay—"

"Don't even m my name, just get my work done!" Shouted Claire.

"Fuck! This is now taking us to ground Zero. We don't know who to trust or who to talk to!" Shouted Jake.

"To add on it Claire will chop my head if we don't give her the real person behind all this drama," said Dominic.

"Let's visit the inspector, he must tell us what happened. He better pray he is not the victim here because I will have to slaughter his head in front of his family!" Threatened Jake as he removed the seat belt.

Dominic drive fast through the lonely road as they headed to the inspector's house. They didn't know whether he was the Judas but he prayed that he is not the one because that will be another chaos.

"Calm someone to look after Dee, I want to make sure she is okay," said Jake.

"Dee is fine, just focus on finding the guy who leaked our information!" Came the commanding voice from the phone.

"I thought you had ended the call dude?" Asked Jake in a pie voice.

"I am a hacker remember," said Claire.

"Then why do t you hack the inspector's phone and tell us whether he is the bad guy?" Asked Jake.

"No, because he changes phone every time and it's making it hard for me to know which phone he is using, you just ambush him. Meanwhile, I clean you're as if testing every Tom, fuck and Harry!"

Everyone else remained silent, they knew this girl here meant business and it's either they come up with the decision or they will all the 'minced meat.'

"We will hide our car here, and walk slowly to his house, we don't want to create any suspicion that might lead to him knowing that we are coming," said Jake.

"Plus, I have disabled the alarms from the compound, but you will have to deal with the dog that barks every second it senses the visitors," said Claire.

"Which entrance is the best?"   Asked Jake.

"Don't touch the children, they are already asleep, and our guy is in the living room watching some late-night news with his wife. So one of you should just knock and some other two should use the garage entrance and check everything in the house one of you be the good speaker."

Jake stood at the door and knocked. 

He had placed his gun neatly behind his back, and his little sister was in his leg waiting for any action.

The door was opened by a lady in her mid-thirties.

"Evening ma'am, I am here to see inspector Diaz," he said as he sounded professional.
