Chapter 30
“What about the bookstore?” Quinn asks, trying to distract Skylar in the hopes that he can stop his panic attack before it even begins. “Gwen has been asking about you and Frank is worried sick.”
Skylar shakes his head, his breathing still fast but slowing. “I can’t face them.”
Quinn frowns. “Why not?”
Skylar doesn’t answer, instead busying himself making up two plates. Quinn thinks he understands what’s going on. It would explain why Skylar hadn’t given out his new phone number to anyone but Quinn, why he makes excuses whenever Quinn mentions Gwen or Rayne or Eric or any of their friends wanting to visit.
“There’s no reason to be ashamed Skylar.”
Skylar’s face remains impassive as he makes his way to the table. The plates clatter a little harshly when he places them on the wooden surface.
