Chapter 16
“You don’t need to do anything but get better.” Quinn mentally curses to himself the second the words left his mouth. He meant what he said, but he didn’t want Skylar to feel useless or unwanted.
Shame colored Skylar’s face and he looked down. “I want to,” he mutters.
“Okay, if you want to, I won’t say no.” He didn’t want to dig himself into an even deeper hole. Besides, Skylar had mentioned his cooking prowess multiple times this past year, even showcased it once at a potluck last June. He was definitely better than Quinn.
“Do you want to come or just make a list?”
Skylar looks uncertain, fear clouding his eyes. Quinn rushes to ease his worries. “You just write down what you want and I’ll get it.”
Relief loosens Skylar’s rigid posture and he gives Quinn a small smile. Quinn retrieves a notepad and pen from the kitchen drawer and gives it to Skylar.
“So, what’s on the menu tonight?” Quinn asks lightly as Skylar bends over the coffee table and starts scribbling away at the pad.
