Chapter 15
Quinn sits heavily on the couch, realization hitting him hard. Quinn had encouraged Skylar to go! He is the reason this is happening at all, the reason Skylar is closing himself off, and withdrawing again. It was too much, too soon.
That seems to be the horrifying theme of the past few weeks. He should not have gotten involved in the first place. He cares, maybe too much, and that is the whole problem, isn’t it? Every time he tries to help, it backfires and Skylar suffers. He should just leave Skylar well enough alone. He is probably better off without Quinn.
But Skylar chose to stay with him.
Was it for the best?
Quinn doesn’t know how long he sat there, head in his hands, guilt dragging him further into his own mind. His thoughts are swirling, his doubts, his fears, everything. He’s hurting the man he loves and the thought eats Quinn up inside.
“—uinn?” A familiar, muted voice weaves through his thoughts and breaks him out of his turmoil. He opens his eyes and looks up.
