Chapter Three: Let's Go Rodeo Part Two

Cotton candy, funnel cakes, BBQ, turkey legs, lemonade, deep-fried Oreos, and ice cream. Hours swiftly pass by, and the rodeo begins in less than an hour. You and Miley are sitting at one of the wooden benches by the food stands, eating cotton candy.

Y/n: I'm still a little nervous. What if he forgot?

Miley: I'm sure he didn't forget. You're thinking too deep into this.

Y/n: I don't know if he thinks it's going to be a date or to just hang out.

Miley: It's just hanging out. Like, I'm sure he would have mentioned to you if it was a date or not. And speaking of Dallas, here he comes right now.

.

You see Dallas making his way towards you and Miley from one of the nearby barns. He puts his shirt back on as he's walking, but you do see his abs before he puts his shirt on. And still, damn. 

.

Miley: Damn, I'm jealous. You get to date one of the hottest cowboys around. There's only a select few of those these days.

Y/n: (Chuckle) Shut up. But wait, what about my powers?

Miley: What about them?

Y/n: If he finds out about them, then what if he doesn't want to have anything to do with me? What if he thinks I'm a witch or something bad?

Miley: Your powers are cool. We all think your powers are cool, and it's helpful. I'm sure he's going to think the same. You don't have to tell him now. Well, I'mma leave ya'll two alone. You remember where we're sitting right?

Y/n: Yeah.

Miley: Alright, I'll see ya later. You two have fun.

.

Dallas comes by just as Miley winks at you before she leaves you be. You get up and greet him with a smile, to which he happily smiles back at you.

.

Y/n: Hey Dallas.

Dallas: Y/n, you ready to play a few games?

Y/n: Sure.

.

Throwing your cotton candy stick in the trash, you happily follow alongside Dallas to a couple of game stands.

First, it was the one where you had to use a few needle darts to pop as many balloons as you can. With eight darts, you manage to pop four balloons. You didn't win any prize from that, but Dallas did! He pops eight balloons with all eight darts. He grabs a random stuffed animal from the section and hands it to you.

A gleeful smile spreads across your face as you take the prize. Even just being around him makes your heart skip a beat, but him winning you a prize has to be the best. After that, you two played a couple of more games involving shooting at beer cans with a real rifle, to shooting water into little holes to make the fake horses run. 

It's almost time for the rodeo to start, and Dallas, being the gentleman that he is. Decided to buy you some snacks and a large drink before he had to go. Just as he was about to leave, he turns to you and says,

Dallas: Say Y/n, I was wondering if maybe you'd like to go out with me next Friday. I have a special place in mind.

Y/n: Yes! I mean, yeah. I would really like to. 

Dallas: (Smirks) I'll see ya in the crowd.

.

He then makes his way towards the barn where the rest of the bull riders are meeting. After he departs, you happily walk over to where Miley and your family are sitting, and you join them. Sitting next to Miley, she scoots over to you. 

.

Miley: Soo, how it go? 

Y/n: It went great and look what he won me. 

.

As you showed her the stuffed animal he won for you, you told her that he even bought you snacks and a drink for the show. 

.

Miley: Aw, he's so sweet. See, I told you. 

Y/n: And he even asked me out on a date next Friday. Oh my God, this is going to be my first date and I am so nervous. Like, what am I going to where? 

Miley: You leave that part to me. I'll help ya.

.

Then Autumn sits down next to you, and she's holding a large drink of lemonade and a dozen fried Oreos with powdered sugar. 

.

Autumn: Hey, I saw you with Dallas. Did he win you that?

.

She points at the stuffed animal you're still holding. 

.

Y/n: Yeah! And he even asked me on a date next Friday. 

Autumn: Aw, look at you. Just hope that Dad doesn't get the hose on him. That's what he did to Miley's ex-boyfriend. 

Miley: Well, he deserved it. 

.

.

Host: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the annual radio tournament! We have eleven brave men here today, ready to ride and ready to fall. The same rules apply to all riders. Whoever lasts the longest on the bull not only wins this tournament but will win five thousand dollars and a spot at the national bull riding championship in Texas! Now, give it up for our first rider of the night. Dallas Dixon!

The crowd cheers as Dallas hops over the wooden fence and makes his way toward the bull's cell. He's wearing some gear that covers his chest and parts of his legs, as well as what looks like a helmet. There are a few other men by the cell to get the bull ready. One of them makes sure the rope around the bull is secure. 

Along with the crowd, you cheer for Dallas as he gets himself into position, hovering over the bull. You've heard rumors that he's been riding animals since he was a year old. Of course, it wasn't a bull; it was probably a lamb or something. In addition to being attractive, it is also thrilling to watch him preparing for this deadly game. Considering that this isn't his first bull ride. 

The second the music starts; the cell door opens releasing the bull into the ring. The bull tries to throw Dallas off the handle, but Dallas holds on tight. Some of the audience continue to cheer while some, including you, are on the edge of their seats watching Dallas hang on. He has to hang on as long as he can. If he falls off while the bull is still jumping angrily around, then it's not going to be a good day for him. 

Miley reaches over your thighs and takes a couple of deep-fried Oreos from her sister while you just continue to watch Dallas. After what seems like a little while, the bull finally stops jumping around, but instead starts running by the fences. There Dallas takes the opportunity to jump at the fence getting off the bull. Everyone cheers for him, and you couldn't be more than happy to see him succeed. 

.

Host: Nine seconds! Give it up for Dallas Dixon everybody! 

.

The crowd claps and cheers again for Dallas before the host continues calling the next rider and bull. 

.

Miley: Your new boyfriend's hot Y/n.

Y/n: He's not my boyfriend. Maybe not yet though.

Autumn: Quit being thirsty and go find your own boyfriend. Plus, you're not legal anyway. 

Miley: Dating in a small town isn't as easy as you think. My options are limited here. 

Autumn: I know it's not, but still. What about the cashier guy? He likes you.

Miley: Yeah, but I don't know about him. I don't really see him like that. He's kind of cute, but if and when I get a boyfriend, I want him to look a little more like a man. You know what I'm saying right Y/n?

Y/n: Uhh...

Autumn: It couldn't hurt for you to think about it. He seems like a nice guy. 

Miley: I can think about it for a little bit. 

.

Then, three rodeo clowns jump into the ring and try to get the bull to run into the cow trailer, which is near the bull cell. There's one rodeo clown in particular that isn't afraid of getting in front of the bull. He manages to get the bull's attention and soon the bull chases after him. There's two parts inside the trailer, one for the bulls and one for the rodeo clown to get in without the bull trying to harm in. 

The bull chases the man inside the trailer, and pretty soon the rodeo clown comes out without so much as a scratch on him. The crowd cheers for the rodeo clowns as they head back to their spots outside the ring.

.

Autumn: I swear, he's going to give me a heart attack one day. 

Y/n: The guy that went in the cow trailer is your boyfriend?

Autumn: Yeah. 

Miley: He definitely got some balls to stand in front of the bull like that. 

Y/n: So when do you plan on telling them about him?

Autumn: Who? Oh uh, I was thinking maybe the same week as the BBQ festival.

...Later on...

.

The host announces the final rider and bull of the night. But when the Cowboys bring the final bull over to the cell, it's the biggest bull out of the rest. So far, Dallas is taking the lead as the rider with the most amount of seconds of riding the bull. The crowd gets quiet as the rider takes his place, hovering over the bull. 

The music begins, and the cell door opens, releasing the bull and rider into the ring. Not even three seconds go by before the bull knocks the rider off of it. The rider manages to jump in between the space of the wooden fence just in time before the bull can hit him, but it does hit the fence. 

The rodeo clowns try to get the bull to chase them instead of hitting the fence again, but it is like the bull has a mind of its own and decides to run to the fence again. Some of the crowd gasped as a few sitting in the front row stood up. Thank God you and your family aren't sitting in the front row, but still. If that bull gets out of the ring, you all are running. 

The bull backs itself and Autumn's boyfriend tries to get in front of the front of the bull, but the bull pays no attention to him and runs toward the wooden fence again. But this time, the bull breaks it down. Everyone starts shooting and screaming as they run away from the bull. Leaving your food and drinks behind, you and your family flee the scene. 

You try to run after your family, but with everyone running for their lives at the same time, you are bound to lose them. And unfortunately, you do. But you remember where the truck is parked, so you run as fast as you can to the parking lot. But as you run past some of the stands you hear what sounds like a little girl crying.

Turning around, you see a little girl crying out for her mom. She doesn't look any older than six years old, and she's holding her stuffed animal close to her. Stopping in your tracks, you run towards the little girl.

But as you're running to get her, the bull sees you running and taking it as a challenge, decides to run towards you and the little girl.

You know what you have to do. You just hope that no one will outcast you for it. But even if everyone does, there's no way you're going to let the little girl get killed.

You stand in front of the little girl and reach your arms out to your sides. In tears, she stares up at you confused but she knows you're trying to protect her.

Fire comes out of your hands as the bull runs closer and closer. Just as the bull gets close enough, you move your hands in front of the bull letting the fire from the palm of your hands consume it. The bull lets out a scream but only for a couple of seconds before its life is gone. You make sure that the fire only touches the bull, but then an idea comes to mind.

While the fire is still shooting out of your hands you take hold of the bulls' horns. The moment you grabbed it, was the second the fire from your hands stopped and whatever remained of the burning bull fell to ashes. Nothing but bones and its horns remain, it all falls to the ground.

All the people stared at you and what remained of the raging bull. You turn around and see that the little girl is both shocked and amazed at what you just did for her.

.

Little Girl: You're a superhero?!

Y/n: Uh... Maybe.

.

The people then cheer for you, thanking you for not only saving them but also the little girl. The little girl's mother comes out of the crowd before getting on her knees to give her daughter a big hug. The mother looks up at you and says,

.

The Mother: Thank you, thank you. You saved my baby.

.

The mother then carries her daughter in her arms, understandingly still in a state of shock that she could have lost her daughter in a very brutal way.

Your family then comes out of the crowd and surrounds you.

.

Mom: You okay? Did the bull touch you?

Y/n: No, I'm okay.

Miley: That was so cool! How did you do that?

Autumn: We're so happy you're okay.

.

Everyone sees the ashes and bones of what was the raging bull. Dad takes a knee and touches the surface of the ashes, still processing that the bull is no longer alive, let alone in one piece. He then stands back up and shouts at the crowd,

.

Dad: My daughter's a hero!

.

The crowd starts cheering again. To be honest you were not expecting this reaction from the people. Although you know your family is okay with your powers, you're relieved to know that everyone here is as accepting of them as your family is. 

While everyone celebrates, a man steps into the men's public restroom alone. After checking every stall and making sure that he's the only one in there, he locks the entrance door from the inside before making a call.

.

???: Hey, I got something over here. We might need the whole team for this. 

.

.

There's something you don't know about the man making the call. But let's just say, that the man he's talking to on the phone right now isn't just anybody.
