Chapter 23- Asterin

The moment Asterin found out what was happening, was the same moment Luke freed her from the ropes. Everything felt unreal. He was here, Luke was here and he’d come to save her. How that was going to happen was an unknown matter of events that would be unfolded to her later on, but she was willing to trust him maybe this one last time.

He led her through the dark forest, urging her to make her steps as fast yet soundless as possible. To their luck, the soldiers had not even kept watch and instead were sleeping like babies. The gods had done her a favor this time, she’d make sure to thank them if she truly managed to survive.

They ran and ran until her feet no longer had what it took to move. She stopped, breathless and falling on her knees. Her hunger had just started to catch up. The men had treated her too poorly and now her lack of energy was its result. Had they known it would stop her from running away? Maybe they did and had done it to his that exact aim.
