3. Unexpectable

Steave inhaled as deeply as he could, then exhaled slowly, the dew he produced illustrating how abstract his mind was at the moment, especially seeing his own colleague lying helplessly on a bed in a luxurious room in the hospital.

The tall, adorable man sat down next to Sandy's carcass. "What silly thing did you do again?"

Steave shook his head faintly. He had been by Sandy's side for many years. Ever since they were in junior high school, there was no doubt that Steave understood Sandy's stubbornness very well.

"Excuse me."

A female nurse in a mua-purple uniform suit came in with her plate, making Steave turn his gaze right to her figure.

"I'm going to change Mr. Ryu Sandy's IV," continued the nurse whose nametag was Song Min-Ah.

"Ah, yeah, sure!" Steave invited the nurse to come in to finish her task.

Nurse Song pulled out the tube that had been lodged in the back of Sandy's hand, then grabbed a new one. hung the IV on the special pole.

"When will Sandy regain consciousness?" asked Steave in the middle of Nurse Song's busy work.

She turned around right after finishing her task, "All I know is that Mr. Sandy needs a follow-up treatment."

"So he still needs another round of treatment?" asked Steave widening his eyes.

Because if there was still another course of treatment, it would probably last a long time which made Steave have to be super extra in managing his company. Not only when Sandy was sick, but even when she was sane, Steave also had to expend a lot of energy and thought.

Nurse Song agreed. "Doctor Gyeon and Doctor Rose, as well as the rest of the team, have arranged for the next step." Then she bowed, indicating that she had another task to attend to and ended up at the door which she closed softly.

Steave ruffled his loins looking at Sandy who was lying weakly on the carcass. "Gosh, you're such a nuisance."

^^^

"It seems to be caused by trauma and excessive consumption of tranquilizers as well as genetics," Rose said as she examined the scan results. "So, before this incident, Mr. Ryu Sandy was already suffering from this disease."

Aunt Ryu took a deep breath. Realizing for sure that Sandy's father also suffered from the same disease. "Yes. But did it have to be operated on? That bad?"

Chan had often taken more than his fair share of tranquilizers when he was in trouble.

"Glioblastoma is a type of malignant cancer that grows in the brain or spinal cord. It can affect anyone, but is more common in adults and the elderly." Rose does a good job of explaining. Although she had not yet received a specialist degree, she was already very good at it, as her intelligence was above average.

"And Mr. Sandy's condition is not so severe, it would be better to have surgery to prevent it from spreading." Rose said.

"Will surgery give Mr. Sandy a full recovery?" Aunt Ryu was still very much considering.

"Not yet, ma'am. During the recovery period, Mr. Sandy will have to be diligent in his outpatient care so that he can receive intensive care at home." Rose's words made Aunt Ryu even more dizzy.

How could someone like Sandy be able to undergo regular control, especially since he was so stubborn. Aunt Sandy continued to weigh her thoughts, creating a moment of silence between them.

After a few seconds, Aunt Ryu looked into Rose's eyes. "Do the surgery first, then I'll think about it."

Rose got ready in a matching shirt and pants in eggplant purple. To be Doctor Gyeon's assistant.

The operation will be held in 15 minutes, then, she reached into her locker to find her mask, but what she touched was a flattened object that was lit up. Rose rounded her eyes, seeing that there was a call with an unfamiliar number 18 times.

Who is it? She swiped at her phone screen as she opened several incoming messages, one of which was with the caller's number.

'Ji-Hyun Noona, I really wanted to talk to you, but I know you're very busy. So I just left a box at the receptionist, and if there's a chance, I promise I'll see you at a convenient time.'

_Yook Min-Jae_

"Yook Min-Jae?" Rose seemed familiar with the name. She put down her cell phone and turned to look for her mask again. Because she had to prepare before the surgery started.

***

During the surgery, Aunt Ryu was anxiously walking to and fro with her hands clenched to her chest.

"Auntie!"

The shout stopped the movement of the woman who was still charming at more than half a century old. Steave ran over to her as he grasped something.

"What are you carrying?" Asked Aunt Ryu as she saw an object crushed between her fingers.

Steave handed her a magazine. "Isn't that Doctor Rose who treated Sandy?" Steave probed for confirmation as he pointed out the person on the cover.

A third-year neurosurgery resident with a superior IQ, Dr. Rose will be South Korea's resident physician representative at the World Medical Association meeting to be held in The Hague, Netherlands over the next two years.

Instantly Aunt Ryu locked eyes with Steave who was now frowning after reading the article. Steave tried to guess what was going through the short-haired half-century-old woman's mind.

"Maybe it's for the best," muttered Aunt Ryu as she scavenged some of her thoughts.

^^^

Sandy was able to be taken to her room. He was led by several nurses to the VIP room Steave had chosen for him. Meanwhile Rose took off her mask and gloves in the bathroom as she cleaned up, occasionally looking at her own face in the mirror, while grunting harshly.

She had succeeded in her surgery today and was too tired to do anything after struggling with the sharp instruments.

"Rose" called Doctor Gyeon. Without this, Rose immediately bowed half of her body.

"It looks like Mr. Sandy's guardian wants to talk to you. They are waiting in front of your office."

"Okay, Doc." Rose bowed again and went back to her office.

Aunt Ryu and Steave were waiting at the front of the room. Rose immediately invited them to enter.

"I've decided for the future," Aunt Ryu said firmly, making Rose widen her eyes.

"I'm going to take it outpatient," Aunt Ryu continued, because it wasn't possible for Sandy to go to the hospital regularly, it would be very difficult for her and her work.

"Alright, then..."

"I want Dr. Rose to take care of Sandy during outpatient care," Aunt Ryu interrupted Rose's sentence. In the sense of a personal doctor.

Aunt Ryu had considered it all, especially with the encouragement of the article that talked about Dr. Rose's biography. She wasn't just any doctor, she was an exceptional doctor. All of that made Aunt Ryu confident that Rose could handle her nephew well.

"W-what?"

Aunt Ryu's request managed to make Rose lose her mind.

A personal doctor? She even still had to finish her thesis and all the other obligations to get a specialist degree. And this year was the year Rose struggled more. Should she put it off?

Drrrt drrt....

Steave reached into his pants pocket to grab the cell phone that was sitting there. Opening the message that had just come in. "Sorry, I have to go back now, there's a recording today."

Aunt Ryu heeded, then looked at Steave's back until he was completely out of the room. Rose took a deep breath.

"How is it, Doctor Rose?" asked Aunt Ryu for reassurance.
