Rise of the Common Devil [DXD FanFic]

Finding himself, as a servant in a manor, wasn't how Ryuu was expecting to spend his twilight years. But as one would expect from a former mercenary he adapted quickly to his new surroundings. It wasn't until he found out the name of the family he now serves, that he understood just how unusual his situation really is. ------------------------------------- A/N: I claim nothing aside from my OC(MC). Chapter 5

Ryuu was rather excited. Today marked the ninth year of his ten year training plan which means it is time for another ritual. This time he'll be undergoing a body cleansing one to remove any and all impurities out of his body.

Ryuu hopes that in the future he can undergo a body reconstruction ritual to smooth out all the flaws and stabilise his body. For now though, he'll have to make do with just cleansing.

The way a cleansing ritual works is: you take a sacrifice with superior capabilities, like a sphinx which is known for it's superior wisdom and use it's energy to clean your system.

There is no actual enhancement involved. You merely gain access to abilities that were hidden within yourself. That said if someone with low-level capabilities were to sacrifice something with ultimate-level capabilities it would lead to an implosion, because of the excess energy that the one doing the ritual tried to absorb.

The way Ryuu avoided is was by one: Using only half a sphinx brain and two: putting seal into his mindspace to absorb the excess energy and slowly release it overtime.

For his body he chose to do something similar, yet different. The sacrifice was a human, a stray exorcist to be precise. A peak mid-level fighter. Now most people would be wondering how he managed to get such a thing. The answer is: money.

As long as you know who to pay you can get anything in the world. That said this one corpse cost him most of his savings, but it would be worth it.

The reason Ryuu chose a human out of all things is, because he wanted to reduce the possibility of rejection and maximise benefits. But more than that he wanted to test a little theory he had.

Lucifer was supposedly an Archangel before becoming the devil progenitor. He is said to have used Lilith's flesh to create the 72 pillars of the underworld. Yet here comes the problem: How could Lucifer, a mere creation of a god, create life of such a level himself.

Everything is hinting on god having a hand in the creation of the devils. Depending on how you look at it, it'd make sense. After all he needed the evil to spread his doctrine of light. It would also explain why he allowed Angels to "Fall" instead of having the system kill them off immediately.

Following this reasoning Ryuu decided that using a descendent of gods creations, Adam and Eve, would allow him to clear some hidden restrictions that were placed upon him. On top of that his corpse still has the blessing of God's system.

While that in itself brings certain risks it also brings opportunities. At the end of the day it's a gamble, high risk and even higher rewards. Taking a deep breath he steps on to the ritual altar.

Mumuring an incantation he slit his wrist to allow his blood to blend in with the ritual circle. As if the blood became alive it spread itself at highspeed in the circle making it light up in an onimous scarlet color.

What happened next was a bit unexpected. His shadow moved indepened from him and sucked in the corpse he prepared. Ryuu didn't panic. When he made the ritual and started it he did so with clear intent which means whatever is happening is supposed to happen in order to fulfill the rituals' purpose.

After the corpse completely disappeared a barrier seemed to errect itself around the ritual site. A golden light shone brightly from under Ryuu's feet. Amazingly enough he didn't felt blinded by it at all.

While he was still trying to make sense of the situation happening before his eyes a golden mist appeared in front of him. It formed the vague outline of a man. Given the situation he is in and the color scheme it didn't take long for Ryuu to realise that this must be a remnant of gods' will.

The shadow seemed to observe him abit before turning back into mist. The golden mist than drilled itself into Ryuu.

What followed now was a bout of extreme anguish and agony. A pain as if molten lava was poured into his every nerve. But he stood his ground, not allowing him to roll on the ground in hopes to reduce the pain.

The process itself took no more than two minutes but it felt like an eternity. After the golden light subsided and the barrier disappeared all that was left was a serverly panting and sweating young man. Ryuu was now standing on the altar without his clothes on. His hair turned pitch black while his amber colored eyes turned into pure gold. His already trained physique become even more refined and he despite the pain and exhaustion he felt energetic.

He went ahead and used basic devil magic to conjure a new set of clothes. Afterwards he sat down on the altar cross legged trying to sense the changes in his body. During this process he seemed to have fallen into a trance.

Ryuu was expecting to something like a 3D hardlight hologram of his insides like he's used to but instead he opened his eyes to find himself on a mountain peak overlooking a rather pleasant sunset.

He didn't notice the fact that he wasn't alone. Only after the sun fully set did he manage to tear his gaze away and pick up on the presence next to him. With his guard sligthly raised he asked "who might you be?"

It was the same humanoid mist he saw during the ritual. While he was trying to asses the threat it would pose it suddenly shone brightly to the point Ryuu had to block his eyes from receiving any more damage.

Once the light settled a gentle looking man with blond hair and blue eyes could be seen standing there. Seeing Ryuu's gaping face the mysterious man couldn't help but chuckle.

Opening his arms with a gentle smile on his face he said "welcome, otherworldler." Left completely stunned all Ryuu could do was give the man a look that said 'how'd you know?!'.

"I know you have question but there is not a lot of time left, therefore please allow me to start first. I'm the God of the Bible, or at least a remnant will I put into the system as preperation for the day you'd connect to my system.

You might be wondering how I knew about you: the truth is I have a certain gift, one only shared by the God of Destruction, Shiva. It is the gift of clairvoyance, but it had a certain limitation. I could only use it on myself, meaning it would only show parts of the future that involve me directly in them."

Ryuu just stood there wide-eyed and staring in blank amazment. Never in his lives did he expect to meet Him. He couldn't help getting nervous and it took him a while before he finally said "ahh nice to meet you god. My name is Ryuu, fancy meeting you here," with an awkward smile.

This time it was God's turn to be dumbfounded and he was the one left gaping.
