Chapter 64 : Tony Stark

A sudden holographic image flickered to life inside the car, and the charismatic Tony Stark materialized, surprising everyone present.
"What's with these looks; okay, okay, I just installed a small program in the car; a genius idea, right?" Tony exclaimed, showcasing a mischievous grin.
The atmosphere in the car seemed to freeze after Tony's revelation. After a moment, Pepper exploded, "How can you watch me, Tony?"
Tony's expression shifted uncomfortably. He'd rather face aliens than endure Pepper's verbal onslaught. However, maintaining a façade was crucial, especially in front of others; after all, Tony Stark had a reputation to uphold.
"Hey! I'm helping you, and this is not surveillance. It's just to ensure your safety, such as from being kidnapped or something. As the CEO of Stark Group, many people are staring at you," Tony explained, trying to justify his actions.
Pepper wasn't having it, "Then you can't watch me either way; remove your things right away! Right away!"
Panicking, Tony waved his hands frantically, "It's alright; since you can't understand it, I will remove it, but I want to protect you, like you. This identity is vulnerable to danger. For example, like that man sitting in the passenger seat. This hairstyle doesn't look like a good person. You have to be careful."
Jude, reclining in the passenger seat, furrowed his brow and glanced up at Tony Stark.
Tony, undeterred, continued his banter, "Look, do you look like a good person? I have only seen it in prison documentaries; that's the kind of—"
"Enough, Tony, shut up!" Pepper angrily slapped the seat, her frustration directed at Tony. Stark's high-level speech skills had successfully provoked her.
Refusing to back down, Tony persisted. The tension mounted until a sudden twist unfolded: a purple metal thread extended from Jude's right arm, piercing the vehicle's control panel and abruptly shutting down the holographic image. Tony Stark fell silent.
Relieved, Little Pepper sighed, determined to teach Tony a lesson for his arrogance. "I'm sorry, Ivy, and Mr. Herbert. Tony Stark is such a bad-tempered person. To be honest, he is a jerk, but... he didn't mean it. Please believe that he is not a malicious person."
Ivy's discontent deepened. She looked at Pepper and declared formally, "Pepper, Jude is my best friend. When I was in the most difficult time, that guy named Roger did not show up, but he stood by my side; even my life was saved by him."
Unspoken apologies reverberated in Ivy's words, directed not just at herself but at her best friend, Jude. Pepper scolded Tony in her thoughts, knowing an apology from him was as rare as a comet sighting.
Concerned about Ivy's mood, Pepper didn't know what to say. Jude stepped in, "There's no need for an apology. With Tony Stark's character, he can't apologize. But there is always a price for doing something wrong, and I will take it personally."
As for Tony, the abrupt closure of his program in his villa left him surprised. Unbeknownst to him, the man in the co-pilot seat was no ordinary passenger. Intrigued, Tony considered the predicament of pleasing Pepper and sought guidance from Jarvis, only to discover his feelings for Pepper might be more transparent than he realized.
In the hospital corridor, the trio approached a superior ward. Pepper expressed concern about Ivy confronting her father, Roger. Jude reassured Ivy, silently standing by her side.
Inside the ward, an aging man lay on the bed. Roger Potts, acknowledging Ivy's presence, requested a moment alone with her. Little Pepper left the room, leaving Ivy to face her past, her emotions a tumultuous sea of resentment and longing.
