Road to Level 10 (3)

Link woke up in the morning, he got something to eat with his friends then went to class. but something happened.

Bai did not show up.

"What's happening?" Link asked around. All the Students were inside the Training Hall talking to each other.

"I don't know" Samuel shrugged. Link was probably one of the few that knew about what happened to the 4 missing people and the Investigation. Samuel, Fei and Tom were standing together, confused like the rest.

"Everyone. Listen up" A loud voice came from the entrance, catching the attention of everybody. An Old Man in a black Robe stood at the door. Link recognized the uniform from yesterday. It was The Mages Guild's Uniform.

"My name is Ed. I came here by the request of the Headmaster, Professor Bai will not be attending today's lesson due to unforeseen circumstances. So you may have the Hall for the regular duration of your class to practice then head back to your Rooms. Understood?" The man did not wait for a response. After finishing what he came there to say he turned around and left.

"What happened to Professor Bai?" Students started whispering and talking. They found the events odd.

Since there was nothing they could do. Each did their own thing, some Students started practicing their skills, others just stood with their friends talking to each other while the rest just left.

"What should we do?" Fei asked. He needed Professor Bai's guidance if he wanted to practice, but he was not here at the moment so Fei couldn't think of anything to do.

"How about we Spar with each other?" Samuel asked. He had been working hard since getting here, he got a lot of compliments from Bai and other professors. Plus he Learned a lot from the Missions he took inside the Academy. He assisted a lot of Professors with their research, and they even taught him so many tricks.

His goal was not to become the strongest or becoming a Noble, but what he wanted to accomplish the most was beat Link.

Since they were young, Link had been the first and best at everything, he understood and knew things that even adults had no idea about, he managed to practice and reach new Levels with his powers by himself, he even got a spot for himself and Samuel in a prestigious Academy, one even Nobles found difficulty joining.

"Sure, I'm down. I want to see how good i've become after the instructions of Professor Bai." Tom agreed and so did Fei. They had the same train of thought as Samuel, they all wanted to best Link.

"Well, if that's what you guys want to do then sure" Link smiled. He had no problem Sparring with his friends, especially in the Rings. Nothing can happen to them so he didn't really care.

They walked together and chose a spot. They played rock paper scissors and the winner would get to choose their opponent.

"I win" Samuel cheered. He won and now can choose "Link, let's go" He did not hesitate to pick Link. Samuel was excited to finally get a chance to fight Link properly.

"Ok" Link shrugged. They both stepped inside the Ring and the Runes activated.

"Ok, get ready" Samuel said. He held a sword in one hand with nothing in the other.

Boom!

He lifted his leg and stomped the ground. Walls upon walls of rocks and dirt covered the whole area, turning it to something akin to a maze.

"Wow" Fei was impressed, doing something like that with such speed was impressive.

The commotion caught the attention of the Students, and they came over to watch.

Link just stood there, looking around him. Even he was impressed. Samuel was trying to hinder his vision and confuse him in this makeshift maze while keeping full control.

"This is not a bad idea Samuel" Link yelled "But it has one flaw"

Samuel did not answer, thinking that Link was trying to trick him and give away his position by replying. So he listened closely while making his way around.

Blergh!

Link appeared next to Samuel, using his dagger to attack his sword, Sending him through the walls. The scene was brutal, the walls were made of Stone and Dirt so they were sturdy, but Samuel just broke through two of them by just one attack from Link.

"You forgot about your footsteps" Said Link, walking over to the spot Samuel was thrown in.

The power of the Attack surprised even himself. He was not really trying to hurt him but Link had been fighting either with creatures from the First Area or the Second.

In the First Area, Link would instantly kill whatever creature came his way, their defenses could not hold against his attacks, but the Creatures in the Second Area were different. his attacks would have little to no effect on them even if he used all his power.

But seeing what happened to Samuel with a single strike, he could only complement the toughness of those Creatures. Which got him to think "If Level 2 Creatures are that strong, then what are the Level 3 and above Creatures like?" He thought to himself.

Link was not worried about Samuel though. He would have done the same thing even if he knew that this would be the result. He couldn't hold back against him, or that would only be offensive to him. Plus, he knew that Samuel would not be easily defeated by something like that.

Link got to the spot Samuel was supposed to be in, but it was empty.

'Thank you for the advice' Was written on the ground using water magic. Link smirked "I knew this kid was not bad" He thought.

"Ok, now that you found the flaw, how are you going to proceed?" Link continued yelling "No offense but i'm stronger and faster than you, so frontal attacks will be pointless. You're gonna have to think of a way to attack without getting close"

This was only a Spar, not a real fight. If Link wanted to end it there he would have attacked Samuel's body when he Blinked next to him. But Link only wanted to see how far his friend has gone, and if possible teach him something he might use in a real fight.

Samuel was walking, his hand holding his side. He knew that Link was doing this for his own good, because in a real fight he would have been killed already, and what's better than teaching someone something through experience.

"He's terrifying" Someone murmured in the crowd.

A bunch a Students have gathered to watch what was happening. They sat on top of stands which helped them see the whole Arena.

"Link is taking this too seriously, he didn't have to injure him like that" Another spoke.

"I know right"

"He could have ended it quickly, he doesn't have to toy with him"

People misunderstood Link's intentions, but he did not care. He took a deep breath and activated his Ambush and Shadow Walk Skills. Every trace of his existence vanished, which confused Samuel.

Using his Earth Pulse, Samuel was able to keep track of Link's whereabouts, but now he was gone.

"What did he do?" Samuel frowned.

"What do you think? Cool skill huh" Samuel jumped forward. He turned around and saw Link standing behind him, smiling at him.

Samuel felt shivers run down his spine "When did you get there?" He asked.

"Just now" Answered Link with a smile. Using his Heat Vision Skill Link easily located where Samuel was, and Blinked right behind him.

"Let's stop right here. What do you think?" Link asked.

"Yeah, i agree." Samuel sighed "You're too strong. But i'll beat you one day, remember that" Samuel smiled. Him losing did not put him in a bad mood, but it was the opposite, he felt like he chose the right person to be his Rival.

"I can give you some advice if you'd like" Said Link. Seeing Samuel nod he continued "In a fight of stealth you need proper Stealth Spells. I managed to locate you easily with a small Spell i learned, so you need something to counter something like that for now, then we can Spar again"

Samuel removed his Spell. The Dirt and Stones vanished, becoming Mana Particles. The Arena was back to the way it was.

Link and Samuel walked out of the Arena, when someone approached them.

"How touching" A boy stood in their way, he had a big sword on his back. Link frowned, he had never seen this kid before, but for some reason he was starting something. As Link glanced next to him he saw another kid.

"What a pain in the a**" Link muttered.

The Boy he saw was Rafael. Link understood what was going on now.

"You're dead meat" Rafael smirked, looking Link straight in the eyes.
