Family Reunion (2)

Inside a tent, Rao laid there covered mostly by bandages. Link entered the tent and looked at his father. He was passed out.

From what Link was told, his dad's wounds seemed to not be healing. This implied to all the injured that were saved. Something seemed to be fighting back and preventing the healing magic from having any effect, forcing them to use bandages to stop the bleeding and help the injured survive as long as they can until they reach the Kingdom.

Although that might work for other people, Rao's injuries were too severe. Back at the village one of those creatures attacked his home, where his family and himself were still inside. Rao tried his best to fight it back, but he wasn't its match and only survived due to the fact that the creature seemed to be toying with him.

Link looked at his father with anger. He was mad at himself for not being there. "Would Holy Light work?" Link muttered, testing it straight away. Unfortunately, what he heard was correct, Link could feel it, something kept canceling his spell, rendering it useless.

Anny was so happy to see Link, but the time was not one for joy and celebration, that especially included Samuel. He looked all over the camp, but he was unable to find a single person from his family. His mother, father and little brother were all gone. Asking around, Samuel learned that their house along with many was one of the first to be attacked, as the creatures dropped straight inside.

Sitting by himself, Samuel was lost in thought, looking up at the sky. He couldn't help but remember the times he spent with his family.

His father was a serious man, but he had a good heart. His mother was only a shop helper, but he couldn't ask for anyone better, she was kind and loving. Taking care of him and his little brother with everything she had. His little brother was the cutest, he remembered how they played together, how they fought with each other and how he would come to him and apologize, like the cute little boy he was.

Samuel's face started to slowly redden, a small little whimper slipped as more and more were heard. Tears started falling down. He lifted his arms, hiding his face from the people that were passing by, as he cried in silence, alone.

Link was sitting next to his father, casting Holy Light over and over again. His Mana was dropping quickly with each minute that passed. Anny, Lisa and Rena were sitting next to him, watching as Link tried desperately to do something. He didn't understand what was causing his Healing magic to fail, and he had no time to understand. Rao's condition worsened with every moment that passed. His face was becoming more and more pale, with his pulse weakening.

Anny and Link's sisters were crying. They knew what was going to happen, and looking at how hard Link was trying only made them tear up more. Link even went as far as to Level up 'Holy Light' with every Skill Point he had. He Sold Stab and Cat eyes, earning a decent amount of Skill points.

<Holy Light evolved to Holy Nova>

Link drank another Mana potion and kept trying again. A giant light pillar appeared on Rao, covering his whole body. The light caught the attention of the Royal Guards and healers. They recognized the spell well.

"Is that Holy Nova?" One of the healers spoke to another.

"How can a peasant, let alone a kid use it?"

"I heard he's from the Military Academy" Another approached, he looked young but when the other old men saw him, they bowed. "He wouldn't have been accepted in there if he didn't have talent"

They all looked at the pillars of light that kept appearing. Link kept casting the skill, he used so many Mana potions but still there were no results. He didn't understand why.

"Dad?" Link said, looking at who grabbed his hand. Rao turned his head slowly, looking at Link with a smile on his face. "You've become stronger" He said weakly. With the bags under his eyes and pale face, Link's heart stung, his father was dying in front of him and with all the power he had, he was still unable to do anything for him. Just like that day, where they were attacked by the Hell Bears. "I'm useless" Link thought to himself.

"Stop" Rao said "Let's spend some time together instead of you doing this. I haven't seen you for a long time"

Link, Anny, Lisa and Rena sat down near Rao as they listened to Link. He told them about his time in the Academy and what he went through, taking out the killing parts, he didn't want his family to be worried.

Rao listened, with the same smile not leaving his face. He looked tired, his eyes kept closing and opening, he seemed to be fighting against it and trying his best to listen.

"Dad" Link said, his voice a bit shaky "I'll save you, I promise. Hang on for a bit longer, ok?"

Rao didn't say anything, he patted Link's hand and turned towards Anny. "Sorry" He said weakly, before his eyes shut slowly.

People around avoided Rao's tent, as they all could hear crying and sobbing. Sal and Robart sat near a fire, looking towards it. "Damn it!" Sal yelled, throwing the cup she had in her hands.

Robart didn't move his eyes away from the tent, he had a painful expression on his face. "First it was Eddy, then Gail and now Rao.." He muttered, squeezing his hands into a fist. "What did we do to deserve this?"

Wosh!

Suddenly, a gust of strong wind blew all over the camp, as a shadow ran out of Rao's tent and headed somewhere. The fires were blown out, while people fell from the force of the air.

"What was that?" One of the Royal Guards spoke "We're under attack?"

"No!" Another guard said, but didn't explain, he just stared at the direction the shadow headed to.

A figure ran through the land. Nothing came in its way and still stood. With every step, the ground cracked, breaking apart.

"I'm gonna kill all of you!" The figure yelled, his face seemed darkened by some force. Its teeth were sharp, with black pupils and no white behind them. Its veins were colored black, looking like some kind of tattoo. A transparent illusion of what looked like a hooded creature with a giant scythe loomed. Following it.

<Link!> Zero yelled <Calm down!>

The figure was Link, even though he looked nothing like him. He didn't react to Zero's words as he kept running. The map layout was opened in front of him, and the direction he ran towards was where the border was. Where the Inolid Kingdom was located.

Boom!

A giant boulder stood, but the next second, Link smashed into it, breaking it into pieces as chunks flew everywhere.

<LINK!>

Link ignored Zero's words and kept going. Wherever he passed, wind blew. He was getting closer and closer.

<Initiating emergence shutdown...>

<Emergency shutdown successful>

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Link felt the strength in his legs vanish, as he slammed into the ground over and over, still skidding forward. Craters were created every time he hit the ground.

<Link, calm down. Please> Zero spoke when he finally stopped, the trail behind him was horrifying. It looked like meteors fell and destroyed the place. <You can't go against a whole Kingdom by yourself. You're only a Level 3 Mage, you'll be killed before you do any permanent damage>

"What did you do?!" Link yelled, trying to move. Mana screamed as Link released everything he had. Dirt and rocks were pushed away and a spider web of cracks formed under him. "LET GO!" Link yelled again.

<Link please. If you go now you won't be able to properly avenge him, so please calm down>

Link struggled for a while. The area was covered in his Mana, as he tried and tried. The trees and plants that touched it died, turning into dust quickly. The grass that filled the area now had a giant circle of death. It looked like a dead land with no chance of plant life.

"He didn't deserve to die that way!" Link stopped moving, mumbling under his breath. "I was gonna give him a good life, buy him a huge house and … an" Link's voice weakened, as tears started to fall again. "Why…"
