A Hunter (3)

"ROAR!" Another roar echoed, sending chills down the trios spine.

"We're not leaving you here, let's run away together." said Samuel, his face pale.

"Damn it! Leave now or we'll all die!" Rao was getting impatient, he could hear the hell bears heavy footsteps approaching them.

Upon hearing his father's words, link felt a knot forming in his heart.

"We're not leaving," said link, grabbing his bow and nocking an arrow in.

"By the great mother! KIDS you'll only get in my way, GO" rao tried to get them to run but to no avail.

Samuel has a hunting knife in his hands, it was his father's gift when he heard about Samuel's desire to go hunting.

When Rao was about to scream something else, it was at that moment it appeared.

There right in front of them was a huge 5 meter tall bear, or that's what it resembled.

As the name implied, the thing looked like a creature from hell. Pitch black fur, with red scleroses and yellow irises, and two giant horns on each side of its head. Its huge frame and thick hide looked fearsome as it roared once again at the trio.

Samuel stood there stunned, frightened by the huge monster in front of him. All the courage he had a while ago was now gone. Link, on the other hand, was expressionless, staring at the creature with immense killing intent.

The hell bear sensed the aggression coming from Link, turning it's whole body towards him while standing on its legs, further establishing its dominance.

Rao quickly attacked, shooting an arrow aimed at it's eye, but the creature reacted fast, swatting the arrow away., and charging at rao.

Rao's instinct was to dodge, rolling out of harm's way, but he remembered that Samuel was still frozen from fear behind him.

The hell bears claws were closing in, Rao gritted his teeth and firmly planted his feet, ready from the attack that might end him. His only wish was that the kids could get out of here safely. Everything at this moment seems to be moving slowly.

"Sorry anny, it seems like i will be going first. Take care of our children... I'll see you guys in the next life." This was the last though rao had before hearing a loud ROAR!!!

But it sounded odd to him, it sounded like the creature roared in pain more than aggressiveness.

Rao slowly opened his eyes, seeing the bear on all fours, with blood dripping from it, dripping from it's missing paw.

When rao looked at who the beast was on its guard against. He saw Link, his eyes yellow with dark-red irises. an abundant amount of air elementals swirling around him.

The bear growled, glaring at Link.

Link nocked another arrow in his bow. "What are you looking at teddy?".

To its surprise the hell bear barely saw Link's hand move, and then suddenly it felt a heavy piercing pain in its stomach blowing it a few meters away.

"I thought that would kill you, guess you're one tough bastard aren't you." said link, reaching to grab another arrow, but finding none.

When the skill Radiant arrow reached max level, link discovered its many different uses.

A Pre-charge, is what Link called it, when you activate the skill on an arrow and charge it with air magic, it would be possible to stop, keeping the arrow charged and ready to use for emergencies.

Upon hearing for the first time the loud roar. link managed to charge two arrows, both hitting their target later.

To his recklessness, link discovered that his arrows have been corroded by the charged ones, breaking and falling to pieces.

"Damn it" link thought, grabbing his hunting knife from his side and screaming "Samuel you idiot, is this all you can do after all I taught you? you talked big and then you put my father in danger?" link continued "You better wake up and run back to the village to get help, or I swear to god..."

Link has never gotten angry or even raised his voice before. which was part of the reason why Samuel snapped out of his daze.

Samuel looked around, getting angry at himself, rao nearly died. if he had listened to him and left maybe he wouldn't have been put in that situation. here he was, being a fool, thinking of himself better than a hero after training with Link for a bit. He threw his arrows towards Link and started running in the direction of the village, yelling apologies.

The hell bear slowly stood back up, it's eyes shining brighter than before.

"Link, i'm impressed, but you should have gone with him. this is too dangerous" said rao, preparing for what's to come.

After practicing and testing with this world's magic for years, link has learned a couple of tricks.

First, mana is some form of link between the user and the elemental energies of the world.

Second, If used properly, link didn't need to count on the skills the system registered for him to use magic, the mana in his body is under his control, adding it to any part of his body would make it tougher and stronger.

Link took a deep breath, circulating the mana throughout his body, boosting himself.

"The mana consumption of this technique is too much, which is why I focused on leveling my skills instead. i have no choice now." thought link.

ROAR!!

The injured beast let out an ear piercing roar, echoing throughout the forest.

"Grab those arrows, and use that magic of yours to cover me, stay within a safe distance from it" ordered rao, giving link a stern look.

Link was disappointed, he wanted to test himself in a proper fight.

After stopping the mana circulation, link grabbed the arrows and placed them in his quiver, nocking one in and charging it with the Radiant Arrow skill.

ROAR!!

Suddenly, the father and son heard another roar that didn't come from the hell bear in front of them. Another hell bear appeared from behind one of the trees, bigger and more terrifying.

A huge scar went from its nose to its eye, adding to it's scary aura.

This creature was 7 meters tall.

"Ok, this is not fair." said link.

Hope you enjoy.
