Ch. 7 One year to go

I was turning 10 soon, time flew by I had grown close to people from the orphanage. My height also grew nicely I looked decently tall for a normal 11-12 year as well. I had made decent progress in everything I had grown comfortable in using magic as well. Not exactly magic but floating things. I could now easily float things like a book or my bag to me without having any difficulty. Would this be considered wandless magic? I didn't know. From reading one of the books I bought on casting I realized there were four types (a) with wand with incantation (b) with wand without incantation (c) without wand without incantation (d) intent casting.

The difference between the last two was in one you set up the spell chain in your mind and the other you directly invoke the spell from memory basically type of muscle memory but for magic. There was another simpler way of doing it I could guess was through occlumency how were mind arts not a compulsory subject was beyond me. At the beginning of the training floating an object for a couple of minutes could be taxing on me. I could now float something for 15 to 20 minutes without any trouble.

After 6 years in trying to train my mind I was finally successful in gaining some progress. My mind was an ocean and memories in it were floating around in form of small stars? Led's? either way it was something to work towards after lots of efforts I could move my memories around. I just moved all my last life memories in the center forming the core of the sphere and outside were others in this life coating the core form a large ball. It felt like having a sun within my mind ocean. I would have at least some basic resemblance of privacy from the probes of the headmaster. If they are intent of getting in my head, I couldn't stop them.

My studies were coming along nicely I had tried to understand what potion ingredients work how. The only working theory I could come up with was it was related to the essence of the substance like what kind of environment it grew in or what type of nutrients it received while growing either way my respect for potion masters grew largely during the time.

For the mundane side of things, I was top of the class always. Some people even started calling me little genius. I didn't mind though. I have also completed the martial training not in the sense of learning everything but I gained everything I could. Now with the help of meditation I could bring up those memories and examine them in detail while in meditation. It sadly didn't give me a cheat of remembering everything I see instantly I had to actually sit down concentrate for a while to even enter my mind. One other thing I found was that mind was not the soul as there was no magic core in it. It does make sense as when people die, they would just travel with their soul and not mind they would have to develop it from the start but what about my case then? I'll get the answers eventually.

The next spell or magic I could work on was the accio spell or summoning charm. It was definitely the most versatile and useful piece of magic to know without the wand just in case I want to summon my wand or a book from the library and many other things. I have started to learn French and Latin as well I already knew the basics of French from my last life so that was easier but Latin was a pain in the ass to learn. I just wanted to learn because of the spells based on it. I wasn't giving up on it but the progress on it was slow.

Time has flown by it's already the year 1988. I'm 10 years old next birthday would be my first encounter hopefully with professor McGonagall hopefully Snape doesn't come. I was 90% sure it would be her. She seemed caring enough in the show just believed in the light lord a bit too much hopefully I'll make a good impression on her. I did save most of money for a trunk an enchanted one. I had gotten over my anxiety of visiting the shops also being alone and finally explored the alley enough. The trunk I was hoping for was obviously not complicated just with an expansion charm, feather weight charm and shrinking charm. I have added enchantment to the long list of things I wanted to learn.
