An awkward silence lingered in the air.

Both maintained eye contact.

Staring into each others eyes, trying to figure out what the other's thoughts.

Why does this feel like the first one to break eye contact will be the loser?

Luckily for Jia Yue, the child started coughing heavily.

"Are you okay?!"

Jia Yue rushed over to get a glass of water before handing it over while clumsily patting the child's back.

"Drink slowly." she whispered trying to be as gentle as possible.

'At this rate I will complete this mission quite soon.'

"H-hello! I am Jia Yue." she stuttered.

The child nodded her head in understanding before continuing in a calm voice.

"Hello. I am Mei Yun. I am seven years old. Nice to meet you."

'Master this kid seems more mature compared to you.'

'Shut up! Maturity is not measured based on initial Greetings! I just have starting trouble!'

"Let's go home."

The child flinched at Jia Yue's sudden declaration.

The sound of breaking glass echoed through the house followed by a thunderous roar.

"YOU B*TCH! IT IS BECAUSE OF YOU THAT I HAVE LOST ALL MY LUCK! NOT ONLY DID YOU KILL YOUR PARENTS BUT NOW YOU ARE TRYING TO KILL ME TOO!"

The man raged, drunk his insults slurring.

As if sensing what was going in Mei Yun's mind Jia Yue timely reassured her, "Don't think too much big sister's house is different."

"Come, Let's go."
