Chapter 9: "You are very stupid."

"Are you sure? I can stay at home today."

It's the next morning, i have school, and im already dressed but i don't wanna leave Aria. Aria decided to take a break from school so she'll be at home for a while. Sure ma is here to watch her but i guess im just scared to leave her again.

"Dont be silly, I'll be okay, just go."

I smile at her then give her a long hug

"Ill call you during lunch." I say as i walk out the front door

"I want everyone to do 5 laps around the field. GO!"

Here i am in PE period, hot and sweaty, running like a complete idiot.

After Im done running i sit down terribly exhausted. No im not unfit!

"Hey!"

I look up to see Zach in a shorts and t-shirt, his hair wet aswell as his chest. Dang it!

"Hi."

He sits down next to me before talking again

"So how are things at home with Aria?"

"Everything's good, thanks."

"So, are you free after school to work on our assi-"

"Why'd you kiss me?" I ask blocking him off

"Well, you kinda kissed me back." He says rubbing the back of his neck nervously

"Yeah but that was a mistake."

He looks a bit hurt by what i said but then quickly nods.

"Okay everyone 15 minutes, hit the showers! Let's go!" The PE educator instructs

I get up leaving Zach, and run off to get a shower.

Lunch time

"Let's have a sleepover at my house!" Kayla screams at me across the table at lunch. 

Yeah we basically bestfriends.

"Im sorry. I cant."

"Why not?"

"Well...i got homework and assi- "

"Liar!"

"Wha-"

"If you don't wanna be my friend, just tell me." She says as she gets up to walk away

"I do wanna be your friend."

She sits down again

"Well then why did you lie to me?"

"How about we have a sleepover at my house, i want you to meet someone."

"Okay sure!" She squeals with joy

After school

"Im home!" I yell as i walk in through the front door

"Elle!" Aria yells back running towards me and hugging me.

"Hungry?" I ask and she nods

"Okay, im gonna change and then ill make us something."

I walk up to my room, take off the clothes i had on for school and put on my oversized hoodie and head back downstairs.

I walk into the kitchen to see Aria waiting for me.

"How about pizza?"

"You gonna order?" Aria asks

"No its already made, ill just put it into the oven."

"Okay cool, cause im starving!"

I giggle at how adorable she is.

"Where's ma?"

"Taking a nap."

I nod, putting the pizza into the oven.

"Okay now let's set the timer for 30 minutes."

Suddenly the door bells rings.

"I'm gonna get that quickly." I tell aria and she nods

I walk out the kitchen into the living room and open the door. Zach.

"Zach?"

He looks at me up and down slowly before speaking.

"Look, Elle I need to talk you." He says rubbing the back of his neck nervously

"Now's not a good tim-"

But i get interrupted by Aria as she walks infront of me pulling Zach into the house.

"Want pizza?" She asks him

"I'd like that, thank you." He says smiling at her

Ugh.

After the whole incident, Zach and Aria sits in the living room talking about disney movies.

"I prefer Frozen 1" Aria says

"No way, Frozen 2 is so much better." He replies

I smile at this.

Once the timer goes off i take the pizza out, cutting it, and placing it into a big plate, then take it to the living room where they are sitting. I place it on the coffee table. The door bell rings again. Ugh who now?

"Kayla?" I ask surprised

"I know, i know. I'm early but i was just so excited! So here i am."

I move aside allowing her to come in.

"Zach?! What are you doing here?" She asks as she walks into the living room seeing Zach on the couch.

"Aria invited me." He lies

"Aria?" She asks confused turning to me

"Let's just sit down."

She nods, doing as i told her.

Once we are all seated, everyone's quiet. I speak.

"Aria is my sister."

Kayla's eyes widen in shock.

"Wait a minute. You have a sister and you never told me? But you tell Zach?"

Zach doesn't say a word he just looks down at his hands that are placed in his lap.

"No it's not like that."

"Then how is it? We're basically bestfriends. I tell you everything Elle."

"Aria only arrived yesterday."

"If that is so then how does Zach-"

"We were working on our assignment, and when he dropped me off at home, i told him to come in for a bit and then i introduced him to Aria."

"Oh. Im so sorry Elle, for jumping to conclusions. I didn't mean to."

I nod

"Aria you're so beautiful, you look so much like Elle." Kayla says turning to Aria

Aria giggles. After some time Kayla and Aria grew pretty close, kayla was showing her the nail polish and glitter sticker tattoos she brought with for the sleepover. Zach just staring at the ceiling.

I stand up, walking away to go check up on ma.

Im about to walk up the stairs when someone pulls me back, grabbing my wrist. Zach.

"What?" I ask annoyed

"Elle i need to talk to you."

"Okay im listening."

"Why'd you kiss me back?"

"Well... i don't know. "

"What do you mean you dont know?"

"Can we not discuss this?, let's just forget it, okay?"

He steps closer to me, looking into my eyes with his, i see hurt, i see anger, i see pain. Our faces so close, our lips nearly touching. He leans in closing the gap, kissing me slowly. Once again i kiss him back. After a while he eventually breaks the kiss, looking into my eyes.

"Tell me Elle, how could you possibly forget that? That feeling? That adrenaline? That sensational feeling when our lips touch? You can but I could never forget that." He talks in a soft tone, looking at me one more time before walking out the front door.

I stand there frozen and shocked. He's right. How could I possibly forget?

Later that night

"I love it!" Aria exclaims excitedly

Kayla and Aria were giving each other pedicures. Pink, blue, and all the colours in between. Their toenails looked like the rainbow.

After Zach left i checked on ma, and she was okay, said she's having a lazy day today.

I couldn't stop thinking about Zach. I told him to forget our kiss but then i kissed him back. What is wrong with me? I don't want to forget our kiss, i don't wanna forget the way he makes me feel, happy, alive, fearless.

"Elle?!" Aria asks shaking her hand infront of my face

"Huh?" I ask confused

"I asked what you thought about my toenails."

I look down at her feet, Kayla made it so beautiful.

"It's beautiful." I reply honestly

"Aria could you go get the glitter tattoos in my other bag downstairs please." Kayla asks

Aria nods as she skips out the room. Once Aria is gone and the door is closed, Kayla turns to me, a concerned look on her face.

"Spit it out!"

"What do you mean?" I ask acting dumb

"You've been out of it all night, talk to me and don't even think about lying to me."

"Zach and I kissed." I say keeping my head down

"Whaaat?!"

I dont say anything.

"Okay so you guys kissed, meaning that you kissed him back, neither of you pushed each other away right?"

I nod

"Then why are you upset?"

"Because i liked it!"

"Im confused." she says her eyebrows furrowed in confusion

"I kissed him back, i liked it but i told him that it was a mistake... i told him to forget about it."

"I don't get it, you liked it but you pushed him away?"

I nod

"Why'd you push him away?"

"Because he has a girlfriend, i kissed him knowing that he has a girlfriend, not just once but twice and i didn't pull back! I'm so stupid!"

"You are very stupid."

"Huh?" I ask confused

"Zach doesn't have a girlfriend. "

"Aren't Stacy and him dating?"

Kayla looks at me for a second then starts bursting with laughter. Tears coming from her eyes

"What's so funny?" I ask

After a while she finally stops laughing .

"Zach never dated her, He just used her. And she was aware of that."

"That's disgusting." I say scrunching my nose up.

"So you pushed him away because of Stacy?"

I nod

"Elle, don't give up on Zach so quickly. He's hurt, he has a dark past, he tries to let go of it all by drinking and having one night stands. He cares about you so much, he needs you. These last few days he's been so happy, genuinely happy and i didn't know why but now i know. Its you."

She sighs before talking again

"Promise me."

"Promise you what?"

"Promise me you wont give up on Zach."

"I promise." I say

Kayla pulls me in for a hug and i hold on tightly to her.

"I promise." I say again

Suddenly the door opens ad Aria runs in

"WHO WANTS GLITTER TATTOOS?!!!" Aria asks as she jumps onto the bed

Kayla and I sit still for a while before laughing

"Count me in!" I shout happily
