Chapter 14: "Thank you Zach."

I wake up as the suns shines on my face. I turn to see Zach but he's not there. I sit up and stretch.
After sitting on the edge of my bed for another fve minutes trying to wake up, i finally do and head downstairs.
I walk into the kitchen to see Zach handing Aria some pancakes served in a plate.
"Morning Diamond" Zach says a big smile on his face.
"Diamond?" Aria asks confused
Zach opens his mouth to talk but i interrupt him
"Where'd you get clothes from?" I ask referring to his outfit, he did not have that on lastnight
"Oh i asked Kayla to drop some clothes off this morning. Took a shower and made some breakfast."
"Zach, you need to stop cooking."
"Aria needs a healthy breakfast before she goes to school." He replies nonchalantly
"School?"
"Yeah school."
"No Zach she's not r-"
"Im ready."
Aria interrupts me. I turn my face to her
"Are you sure?" I ask her
"Yeah, i mean it's going to be hard being the new kid and-"
"What?" I ask extremely confused
"Zach enrolled me into a new school not too far away from yours."
He did what?! I turn to Zach, but he looks down immediately.
"I'm gonna take a quick shower." I say before walking upstairs to my room
As soon as i enter my room, i start pacing like crazy. My mind running with thousands of thoughts. Aria...A new school? I cant... i can't... im scared. I don't wanna lose her... i can't lose her. Im brought out of my thoughts as i hear footsteps coming up the stairs. I immediately run into my bathroom, closing the door softly and turning on the shower before getting in.
After like a whole minute, i hear my bedroom door open and then footsteps entering my room
"Elle?" Zach speaks from the other side of the bathroom door
"I'll be out in a minute!" I shout
"Hurry up, we don't want Aria late on her first day!"
I wash myself quickly then hop out, wrapping a towel around me, i walk over to the sink and brush my teeth, i seem to slightly lose my balance and my head hits the pointy edge of the sink counter. Ouch. Once Im able to stand up, i look into the mirror and see that there's blood running down my forhead. Shit! I quickly get the first aid kit from the top cupboard and clean the blood up then cover up the injury with a plaster. Gosh what the hell just happened? Why do i keep losing my balance? What's up with all the headaches?
"Elle?!" Zach shouts from the other side of the bathroom door
"Im coming!"
"We have to leave in 5 minutes!"
I take a deep breath then rush out the bathroom, i decide to wear some baggy pants and a oversized hoodie along with my black air force. What?! I like baggy clothes and plus im in a rush. I can't ruin Aria's first day at her new school.
I run down the stairs and enter the living room where Zach and Aria are waiting.
"Im done." I say
"What the fork happened to your head?!" Zach asks angrily walking closer to me
"I knocked my head."
"What?!"
"It's no biggie, lessss go!"
Zach just looks annoyed but then quickly nods.
And with that we leave, locking the front door, climbing into the car and pulling out the driveway and onto the road.
The drive is silent. Zach doesn't speak, Aria just sits quietly looking out the window
After another 12 minutes arrive at the school. Zach was right this school was quite close to ours, only like 5 minutes away.
We all just sit frozen in our seats. I turn my head to Aria
"You sure you want to do this Aria?"
"Yeah, im just nervous."
"Look if you dont like it or feel uncomfortable with this whole thing then ill come and fetch you immediately, okay?"
"Okay." She says softly before getting out
Zach and I get out aswell.
Zach takes Aria's bagpack and swings it over his shoulder, Aria takes his hand in her one hand and mine in her other.
We walk through the crowded parking lot. Children being dropped off by their parents, receiving kisses and hugs from their parents. We enter the building and Zach leads us to the office.
"Zachary Scott?!" A elder man says at the office, his tone filled with joy
"Why so formal?" Zach replies with a smirk on his face
"Come here you rascal!" The man says as he pulls Zach in for a hug
Aria looks at me confused and i respond with a shrug
"Elle meet Mr.Jacob, sir meet Elle." Zach says introducing me to the man
"Nice to meet you" i say politely
The man just nods giving me a cheerful smile
The man is about to say something but gets interrupted by the school bell ringing.
The man hands Zach a envelope, giving us one more smile before walking away.
Zach turns to Aria as he bends down infront of her
"Aria this envelope has your timetable for, aswell as a map if you get lost, you'll get a tour later on today, if you need anything you'll call me or Elle, if you feel uncomfortable or unhappy with any of this we'll pick you up straight away, okay?"
"Thank you, Zach." She says as he pulls him in for a hug
She gives me a gentle smile before walking off to her class. A tear seems to escape my eye as it rolls down my cheek but Zach quickly wipes it away with his thumb.
"Thank you Zach." I say before pecking him on the cheek
"Is that all i get?" He asks, a smug smile on his face
"There's children around."
"Excuses."
Once we're in the car, Zach starts the engine and pulls out the driveway.
"When did you do all this?" I ask
"Do what?"
"When did you enroll Aria into this school and how?"
"Lastnight when you're were asleep, Luckily there was space for her, she's registered, she's sorted out."
"Zach you paid for her registration, her stationary, and I'm grateful but I'll give your money back as soon as i get a job."
"A job?!"
"Yeah, ill need to get a small job just so we can cope for a while, and so that i can pay you back."
"No. You not gonna work, I'll provide for you and Aria!"
"Zach."
"No Elle."
"Zach?"
"What?"
"Can we go to that Cafe?, i didnt have any breakfast this morning."
"Yeah sure."

At the Cafe

"What do you want?" Zach asks referring to the menu
"I need the toilet."
"Okay, what should iorder for you?"
"I'll have a cup of English tea."
Zach just nods
I stand up and walk away from the table. I lied im not here for breakfast, and i dont need the toilet. I need a job.
I walk up to one of the waiters asking if i could speak to their manager, the waiter leads me to the manager. A man in his early twenties say, black hair and green eyes. After discussing with him that i really needed the job and why, he agreed surprisingly
"You're hired!"
"Wait, really?"
"Yeah, we could really do with more waitresses."
"Awesome, when do i start?" I ask
"You'll get the late afternoon shift since you still in school so how about 5PM until 8PM?"
"That's perfect, thank you so much, i won't let you down!"
The man nods and hands me a card before speaking again
"Heres my details, so we can discuss your payment."
"Thank you sir."
"Please, call me James"
I nod before walking out and returning back to our table.
"Everything okay?" Zach asks me
"Perfect."
A waitress approaches us with two cups of tea and some waffles served in one plate
She places it down before turning my way
"Hi, I'm Emily, ill be joining you on your shift tomorrow, im so excited!" She exclaims
"Sorry, you got the wrong person." Zach talks before i can reply
"No, she's right." I say
"What?!" Zach says in a whisper shout
"Ill see you tomorrow." I assure Emily and she walks away awkwardly
Once she's gone, Zach speaks again
"What the fuck Elle?"
"From tomorrow ill be working here as a waitress." I say confidently
"No."
"Yes."
"No Elle!"
"Yes Zach."
"Im not gonna let my girlfriend work as a waitress, dressed in those short skirts and tight shirts, i don't like the idea of other guys looking at you that way."
"Dont worry Zach, I'll try to get an appropriate uniform."
"I don't understand Elle, why go through all this?"
"I can't just depend on you, that's not fair on you, im going to work hard enough to get your money back and to pay for the bills and groceries."
"Okay fine." He says giving a big sigh
"Thank you, thank you for giving me a chance."
Zach just nods before taking a sip of his tea.
