BEAUTIFUL DISTRACTION

I brought back Erika to my house and put her on my bed slowly, she was sleeping like a little angel with her beautiful long hair falling on the pillow beside her, she looked a little pale compared with her usual radiant self, for some reason I felt sad seeing her like that, I just wanted her to wake up and do something stupid like she always does, I have checked the wound on her arm, how did she get this??

I immediately called Ms.Steele and asked her about what has happened exactly, when she told me that I was the reason for her injury I felt more guilty, so am I the reason for her state?? I sat near her and caressed her head and said"I am sorry.. I am really sorry for what I have done".

Huhh..this silly girl thought that she could join my team if caroline gives up her place?? no matter what I would never accept someone in my team if they are not capable enough, I have been wondering how caroline passed those tests since the first day?? I really have to look into that matter.

while I was thinking all this Erika held my hand in her sleep, when I saw her innocent face sleeping peacefully while holding my hand I felt like time should stop at that moment forever, all the loneliness in my life vanished at that moment.

I don't know how long I stayed beside her like that, it was already morning and she is still sleeping like that holding my hand, I came out of the trance and went to the kitchen and prepared some breakfast and coffee for her, I had this weird smile like an idiot on my face, what the hell is wrong with me, why am I behaving like a teenager, ugh..this girl will drive me mad someday.

Suddenly a thought occurred to me, what if she wants to leave after what has happened yesterday?? I can't let her leave me, I will check the contract for any clauses to make her stay, with that thought I went to my study and checked the contract for any loopholes, yeah I will tell she has to pay a million dollars for the breach of contract..yes..that might work.

wait?? why am I looking for excuses to make her stay?? maybe because I am worried that she would run away like my last cook?? yes..that's the reason I want to keep her.

with that thought in my mind I went to my room and suddenly Erika bumped into me, I held her from falling and saw her with her eyes closed, she looked damn cute like that, these silly things she does just makes me smile, I felt happy to see her up and running, she slowly opened those beautiful green eyes melting my heart, what's happening to me?? why this weird feeling again inside my heart now??

I immediately left her making her lose her balance, she somehow managed and stepped away, for some reason I didn't like it, even though she is up I still feel concerned about her health so I asked her about her arm, she said she is fine, but I doubt that she still looked weak.

What if she wants to leave?? but to my surprise she apologized for yesterday's events and asked me no to fire her, I immediately turned away and smiled a little, and said "Alright then, I will forgive you this one time since you know your mistake" with that I immediately went inside my room and closed the door, I don't want her to see me being happy about her staying.

Today there's an important meeting I have with some farmers, I got ready to leave but felt like checking on Erika before I leave, so I went to her room and saw her sleeping holding her wounded arm, why's she holding her arm?? was she feeling pain?? then I saw the pain relief tablet wrapper on the nightstand, then I have decided to cancel the meeting.

I have asked Richard to cancel the meeting, I have called Katherine and asked her to come home to check on Erika "you know what Chris I had never seen you worrying about someone like this before, seems like this girl special to you," she said from the other side.

"she's my assistant and cook, moreover I am responsible for her injuries, I just want her to recover soon so that she can resume her duties, don't overthink things," I said getting irritated.

"yeah...whatever helps you sleep at night, I will be there in an hour, see ya" with that she hung up, but Katherine's right, I have never thought about anyone this much, what's wrong with me?? she is just a pretty girl, I have traveled all over the world and met so many beautiful and smart women but why am I so disturbed by this silly girl??

After sometime Katherine came and went to check Erika, I have waited impatiently outside Erika's room, she came outside after 10 minutes, when she saw me I tried to appear casual but I badly wanted to know how's Erika, she smiled a little and said"she is fine, I will change her bandage tomorrow, just make sure she gets good rest today"

"Why are you telling me? I didn't ask" at which she gave me a known smile and left,huhh..she knows me for so long that she easily understands my intentions without me telling her, huhh..best friends are sometimes best enemies.

I went to the library to study some plant specimens for project_042, when I was seriously thinking about specimen collection, I saw Erika entering the library slowly, my study table is in a corner so she didn't notice me and searched for some books, she was wearing a white top and grey track pants with her long brown hair open, she looked so beautiful even in that casual outfit, she sat near a window and started studying and taking notes in between.

while she was studying seriously, a light breeze from the window lifted some loose tendrils falling on her face making her look more beautiful, there is no makeup on her face, my heart skipped a beat when she tied her long hair into a bun exposing her beautiful neck, I have noticed a mole on her neck.

grhh.. what am I doing?? I should stop staring at her like some pervert and concentrate on my work I thought and went back to my work but only after ten minutes, I couldn't stop myself from checking on her again.

I saw her playing with a butterfly which somehow entered through the window she was sitting nearby, she carefully caught it and left it outside the window with a cute smile, whenever she smiles a small dimple forms on her left cheek making her look cuter, I just wish I could hold that cute face and.....wait what am I thinking again?? I should ask her to study in her room otherwise I won't complete this work today.

But before I could ask her she herself got up and left the library, I didn't like it when she left but I was about to ask her to leave right?? what's wrong with me?? I couldn't help myself but to check on the books she was reading, I went to her place and checked the books she was reading on the table, I noticed a cute kitten sticker on the table, she's really a kid I thought.

I smiled a little knowing that she is sincerely putting efforts to join my team but these books are not enough to join my project so I got more books from my personal collection and left them on her table and came back to my seat.

she entered the library with a sandwich in her hand, she saw the books I left on her table and looked around, I shrunk back in my seat so that she wouldn't notice me, she shook her head and sat back and resumed reading while eating her sandwich, all the while she was seriously studying and taking notes I was looking at her like a fool,huhh...

when I looked at my unfinished work I understood that I have stared at Erika all day instead of studying and it's already dark when I saw Erika she suddenly got up and looked around the library nervously, I remembered telling her that this house is haunted, poor girl she believed that also...I chuckled a little and started walking towards her, she screamed more with fear.

"Hey it's me..Christopher, calm down," I told her holding her hands, she opened her eyes slowly and looked at me, she hugged me immediately with fear, at that moment my heart started beating so loud as it would come out of my chest, her delicate soft body, her sweet fragrance, I felt like hugging her forever.

I came to my senses after a minute and cleared my throat, she left me immediately and looked into my eyes, I saw her angelic face in the beautiful twilight, the soft breeze started blowing through the open windows, I looked into her beautiful green eyes and soft pink lips, something happened to me at that moment and I leaned towards her, my lips almost touching hers, she stepped back at that moment and ran away .
