My name is Rose.
Upon witnessing the death of one of my patients, my world completely changed, and there was only one person who knew exactly what was happening to me. However, I didn't immediately call him because I was aware of the madness that would entail.
At first, everything was normal; the symptoms I exhibited were common in people who had undergone a great shock, and I was one of them. So, over time, I thought everything would return to normal.
But it didn't go as expected.
Every passing day, my hallucinations continued, giving me a disturbed and dangerous appearance to those around me, including my fiancé, sister, and friends.
I thought I could control it; I felt strong, so I imagined that I could keep everything in check, affecting only myself, but I was very wrong.
Deep down, I knew I was not okay at all.
I needed help.
Even today, every time I close my eyes, I hear things I shouldn't hear and see in the darkness of my consciousness a smile that materializes no matter what I try to imagine.
That smile gave way to the life and death that awaited me.
Witnessing that woman's suicide changed my life completely.
Upon witnessing that scene, I knew I was destined to live a completely different life from the one I had been leading until recently.
Because as the days went by, the hallucinations became more terrible to control.
At my Siberian's birthday party, for some reason, the gift I had prepared was replaced with a dead cat, horrifying everyone, especially the young children.
The people around me smiled.
At some point, as that man called Anton had said, I suspected that I was actually cursed by a supernatural entity, but no one believed me.
No one can believe me.
Every night, I woke up with horrible nightmares; sensations of being watched flooded my body, and when I couldn't take it anymore, I decided to call that man.
"Do you think you can help me? I'm the woman you gave your business card to." Rose called Anton after the fourth day.
"Two people will come to pick you up; you don't need to bring anything else," Anton said on the other end of the phone.
Rose was intrigued, but at that moment, there was a knock on the door, and she approached to see those men with silver crosses on their chests. "How do I know they're real?"
"They are priests; if they are near you, nothing can harm you."
...
Feeling scared, Rose decided to open the door after a few minutes.
"Mrs. Rose, right?"
Rose nodded her head, completely dazed. Had Anton been watching her all these days without her realizing it?
"Extend your hands; this will be to protect yourself and us on the way. Also, this silver cross will help you feel safer." The big-bearded man on duty handed Rose a silver cross with a big smile.
Without knowing how or why, Rose extended her hands to the man who placed a purple cloth with blood and strange symbols on her. Immediately after, as if all the coldness around her had vanished, she felt safer.
"Let's go; please get in; the archbishop has been waiting for you for a few days."
Maintaining a calmer expression, Rose asked, "Wasn't he a detective?"
"As you now know, we deal with supernatural cases all the time. With government support, we can assume many identities that ultimately serve a purpose, and that is to eliminate evil."
The priests who picked up Rose immediately drove towards the area where Anton was. They knew that if the dark entity was released, they would have little to do because they did not understand its nature.
Keeping all this in mind, they quickly accelerated towards their destination.
On the other hand, Rose looked at the purple cloth in her hands and, for some reason, felt very safe; she knew that no kind of darkness would dare approach directly for some unknown reason.
"Do you feel different?"
"Yes..." Rose nodded without changing her expression.
"Well, that's because the cloth you have in your hand is blessed... We have investigated you; you don't believe in any religion, but it's never too late to start."
No one was forced to believe, but now it would serve Rose well because she was very desperate. "I should start believing..."
