"What we know about the mission is that a world-famous shaman has taken on a rather complex task involving punishment and possession in dreams. The evil spirit has taken many reprisals against her family, but it seems they are looking for a way to lift that curse."
Anton was looking at his statistics and, more importantly, the mission itself, which seemed insignificant to pay much attention to.
"[Mission in progress...
Type: Exorcism/Elimination of Evil
Request: Eliminate the evil spirit, known as the devil in many languages.
[Reward: Enhanced manipulation of divine light]"
The rewards he had been receiving lately were very powerful, as if he were being prepared for something, and to be honest, he didn't like it much.
But now his statistics didn't matter; he had crossed a threshold, so there was no need to pay attention to them. Now what mattered was eliminating this dark entity and returning home.
"Are there any other anomalies in the world that require my attention?" Anton was now thinking about the situation in other places.
"Nothing to highlight, sir. We have suppressed the parasites, so we remain undercover."
Anton nodded, looked at Casey, the girl who could read minds, and said, "It's your first mission; how do you feel?"
"I'm ready."
"Anything, no matter how minimal, that seems out of the ordinary, you must notify me directly, understand?" Anton knew that Casey's mind-reading ability could get them out of many problems, but it also put her safety at risk.
The Light Association had ensured she had enough protection so no one could get into her mind and cause her trouble. Anton even placed special protections on Casey's body to avoid complications in future missions.
As long as she was by his side, there would be no problem they couldn't face, and now he could set aside the detective deductions he had always hated.
It's true that the threats they had been facing had been increasing, and for that, they needed better measures to finish the jobs much faster and stop wasting time on things that could be resolved differently.
Anton was a special card the association could use on certain occasions, and his talents should be leveraged at sites as quickly as possible to avoid wasting time and automate defense measures better.
As they approached the mountain, the surroundings became increasingly silent, and there was an aura of putrefaction along the path. Many did not have the ability to perceive things that were not of this world, but Anton was certain that something truly evil was here.
In that mountainous place, it was common to see animals, but as they got closer to the area, all of them disappeared, as if something or someone had hunted them all.
A place like this, without protection measures, is a special site where a demon can freely incarnate and commit atrocities without the outside world noticing. In the eyes of resentful spirits, isolated places are the best because, as they grow, they do not attract the attention of anyone who could disturb their growth.
As for whether it was a good idea or not to have called him to such a place, Anton had no problem dealing with dark entities as long as they were real.
Since they were back, it wouldn't hurt to eliminate an evil spirit in this place before retiring. It must be said that not just anyone could perceive something evil in this place, so whoever called them must have been very clear that something much more dangerous was about to be released here.
When they arrived at the foot of the mountain, there were three cars below and at least ten people outside who seemed to be waiting for them.
Everyone here appeared to be shamans from the most famous organization in South Korea, the ones people called to solve their problems related to evil spirits.
Interestingly, in South Korea, Christianity is not the most famous religious branch like in the rest of the world. Here, people often turn to shamans, who are mostly frauds, to heal their mental wounds or to hear what they have always wanted to hear.
When Anton got out, a dozen people with long guns also got out and looked around, ensuring no one could ambush them.
The first thing Anton did was not greet the people in the distance but to touch the ground in this place and stab a knife into it to at least diminish the malignant aura.
"Start analyzing them." Anton kept looking at the ground, while Casey turned her head to see the people in the distance.
The agents opened a perimeter and began unloading the equipment they would need for this mission.
"Half of them don't believe in their abilities, and the other half remain skeptical about what I can do," said Casey with a calm look.
Anton nodded, stood up, and walked toward the people who were silently waiting for him.
