"It's heartening to see so many unfamiliar faces today. I know my mother would be deeply moved and perhaps a bit suspicious to see so many people." Annie Graham glanced at Anton, who was the last to enter, before she began her speech.
"My mother was a very discreet and reserved woman. She had secret rituals, private friends, and private anxieties. It feels like a betrayal to be speaking about her here."
"She was a woman very difficult to understand; you could never guess what she was thinking, and it was best never to confront her. But when she had no troubles in her life, she could be the sweetest, warmest, and most loving person in the world. She was also too stubborn, which explains why I'm like this against her."
Annie made a wager and continued, "You could always count on her to have the right answer, and if she ever was wrong, it was surely our mistake."
Listening to this daughter's speech about her mother, Anton could sense that they didn't have a good relationship. But in some way, he felt sad, strange, and very puzzled by losing someone who she never thought was distant from her.
Looking at each of these people, Anton noted several individuals with a dark aura surrounding them, and at that moment, he could see something more.
"Mission in progress... Types: exorcism, elimination, and hunting. Request: Find the demon to prevent its emergence, eliminate evil in this town, and restore peace to its inhabitants. Reward: 40 general strength points and 80,000 faith points... "
"It's not a good time, but now I know who that dead woman is clinging to." Anton didn't stay to watch more; he was about to leave when he heard a sound like a snap.
Tap!
When Anton turned around, he saw a girl drawing something in her notebook, and looking further to the side, he could see a silhouette next to her.
"Can you look at me?" Anton asked silently, but there was no response. The people in this place often had connections to false groups, but it seems that wasn't the case.
Any cult?
That old woman seems to be at the center of it all; her death triggered a plan that has been brewing for a long time. So, if Anton wanted to slow down the darkness a bit, he had to make it rise.
Now, from what he could see, that white silhouette was with the girl; she seemed to be somehow more related to the ghost, so he would start from there.
"Leaving now?"
Anton turned to look at an old man beside him and said, "I need to go out for a smoke; I can't stand places like these."
"Then tell me, what relationship do you have with that deceased woman?" The old man looked at Anton with a more severe expression.
"I don't have to answer to you, but if you insist, we could have a more private conversation outside." Anton gripped the purple cross on his chest and smiled a bit at the insistence of this strange old man.
To Annie's eyes, most of the new faces were people involved in those rituals, and Anton knew this because of their dark auras surrounding their bodies.
This ability allowed Anton to observe the golden, dark, and white auras of people. When a person doesn't commit good or bad acts, they have a white aura that balances their life like a normal human.
However, this changes when there is darkness in them, indicating they are in contact with the supernatural. The golden aura means they are good people; this rarely appears in Anton's eyes, but when it does, it's usually in very noble people or religious priests.
In this case, most people here were or were connected to supernatural data. "May God have mercy on their souls."
Taking a deep breath, Anton lit a cigarette and walked over to where Akira was sitting. He could see numerous eyes directed towards them, which was more than strange, so Anton secretly held a gun and waited for the slightest detail to start his own slaughter.
"How did it go?" Anton sat next to Akira and tossed his half-finished cigarette.
Akira, who was holding a book, looked into the distance and said, "At least fifteen people have been watching you; they are all looking at us right now."
"They're all related to the cult; we must now gather their data and issue a late elimination mission." Anton planned to kill these people if their behavior didn't align after the evil spirit was eliminated.
"So, how did it go?" Akira was curious to know what Anton had discovered upon entering that place.
"The target has been confirmed; the Graham family is involved due to the adverse effect of the deceased old woman. From what I can gather, she is related to some kind of group where they practice rituals."
"So, how do we start?"
Anton thought for a moment and said, "Eliminating the dark entity at first isn't ideal; I want to take note of everyone related to these rituals first."
Knowing this and seeing that their targets were under surveillance, Anton called for reinforcements to have a high-level standby team in this city.
"So, do we follow them?" Akira asked this because she expected to get Anton's instructions before making any moves.
"Yes, but we must be careful of the eyes watching our backs."
"I have it under control; they'll die if they make a foolish move." Akira wouldn't hesitate to kill as long as they were the enemy; she knew the consequences of not doing so.
