The Umbaran Assassin

To make it fair. I will not start with an attack that is beyond her capability to avoid. I want to get her afraid and on the run. If she survives first contact. Then she is worthy to chase.

If not, oh well. She wasn't as good as I thought she would be.

I first found her location. Which was in a recreational area with a bar. I never expected operational discipline from criminals in the first place. Drinking during the day, lighting up, and such. They would be unable to respond to an attack in their states.

The Umbaran wasn't drinking though. She was just listening.

Their cybersecurity was also cheap as well. I wanted to cut the lights so the environment can be favorable to me, and the Umbaran. The goons are just in the way. Best for them to just run around blind while I have my fun.

After injecting a power overload virus into the base's local system. The lights popped and went out 5 seconds later.

It was time to begin. I was looking over the area from a ceiling corner. I had a good line of sight and could attack her immediately. I started with something simple. I took out a shuriken and threw it with...normal physical power.

I was not disappointed. She dodged the shuriken. She has fine senses in the dark. Which is to be expected of an Umbaran.

She looked around for an attacker. She couldn't find one. So she ran to cover. A little bit late of a reaction. I guess she thought the darkness was only her ally.

After taking cover behind a table, she rushed to a door that led into a dark corridor. I leapt down and followed after her. I followed closely and noticed she was heading back to her room. While she running through the confused goons. I activated my plasma cannon. Three targeting lasers cut through the darkness. She looked back and dodged my plasma shot. Which resulted in three goons getting killed.

She ducked into another corridor to try and shake me. This time, her movement was more professional. She was blending into the movements of the bodied around her. Which make sit hard for a regular person to keep track of her figure in in daylight. She does it well, but not well enough for a trained pair of eyes.

I follow her through the goon crowd, and shoot another plasma shot at her. She dodges again at the expense of goon lives. She didn't clear the entire shot this time though. She got singed a bit on her right side.

She turns another corridor. I turn the corner and notice that she up against the ceiling with a dagger ready. She wanted to drop down on whoever was coming after her. Too bad I have my cloak activated. I'm staring straight up as she waits for her attacker to pass under.

I flash my eye visor at her her. She sees the green eyes glow for a tick and she visibly tenses up. She jumps down and away with her dagger up. Looking my direction while backing up.

I clack my mandibles, "Too dull..." I said in basic.

She turns tail to run. I follow. She is good at running through this maze of corridors.

Instead of going back to her room. She is attempting to flee the base. I can roughly guess the path she will take. So I move to cut her off.

I place net mines where I think she will go past. I have thermal cameras set up next to the mines too. This way, I can activate them manually so I don't just get some random goon.

I "smirk", as she goes down one of the predicted paths. Once she gets close enough, a net mine goes off and she grunts as she is caught in it with another goon. The net then begins to tighten. The goon panics, but The Umbaran tries to cut through it.

She is actually successful. I am a bit surprised. That net is a wire net, not rope. A typical blade or vibroblade isn't sharp enough to cut through it. I guess her dagger is special.

She escapes the net and continues running. Unfortunately, I arrived to stand in front of her. She hits me and stumbles back. There are a few goons around. I don't want them to see me. So I use the Force to pop their heads. Then I uncloak for the assassin to see me.

Once she realizes who is after her. Her shoulders sag for a moment in despair. Before rising once more with a final will to fight.

I ask, "I never got your name. You were just called the Umbaran Assassin. What is it?"

She grabs her dagger tight, "I am Uminia, The Blade."

"I'll put your name on the trophy stand for your head.", I say coldly.

She tries to stab me. I grab her wrist with my hand. I sneer, "Unintelligent move. It seems you've given up. An assassin never strikes head on."

I grab her neck with my other hand and give it a sharp twist. I break her neck and she dies easily.

I scoff, "Not bad, but not what I was expecting. The cartel just has incompetent personnel to need me to deal with you."

I exit the base with the body. I hand the body over to a cartel contact later on while I keep the head. Not the best trophy, but she had a decent reputation. Worthy enough.
