Chapter 29

Luna wakes up after a week long fever. Toya is sleeping beside her, she walks to the bathroom and Split just finished making a clone clean it up.

She takes a long bath still feeling light headed, but she has an appetite to eat.

She walks outside, from a distance Rin is yawning. It looks like she just stepped on duty for patrol.

Luna jumps scared when Rin screams startled by Dodge.

Luna sprints to see what's going on, and her mouth drops seeing Dodge with Snow white hair like hers.

"Maybe her power kicked in." Luna says trying to understand the reason behind Dodge's new appearance.

Rin gulps, "I always knew she was jealous of you, but this is just sad, now she's trying to be you, does she think Toya and Rex like you for your hair?"

Luna smiles, "Look, let's end this here, whatever the reason for this, let's hope it's only a phase. And what do you mean she's jealous of me? Dodge is the most confident person I know."

Rex walks past Dodge yawning, "Oi Dodge. Morning." He says walking towards Rin and Luna assuming that's where the morning meeting is.

Dodge follows behind Rex angry, she stood there so he would stop and everyone gathers around her for a change.

Rex gives Luna a hug and than hugs everyone else, "Feeling better?"

Luna nods her head gently, "Yes, no nightmares since we got here. The fever was annoying, but I am good now. Just starving."

June joins everyone outside, "Foods nowhere near ready, any snack you guys." He stands next to Dodge stares at her hair and laughs, "You joined the Snowflake club, good for you." He says pointing at his naturally snow white hair too.

Luna keeps quiet, asking Rex for food.

Toya joins everyone for a breakfast of hot chocolate and vanilla biscuits.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" He asks Luna grumpy in the morning like always.

"I wanted you to sleep in. You've been taking care of me day and night. Granted if you allowed others to help care for me I wouldn't have been such a burden."

Toya looks at Luna, "I can take care of you myself. I don't need anyone's help. What? Did I not do it the way you would have preferred?"

Luna shakes her head, "Not at all. I was just saying I felt better today and decided to take care of you instead."

Toya angrily bites his food. He wanted croissants for breakfast. He wishes for some and shoves his biscuits away.

Dodge asks for some. Toya knows they are her favourite.

Toya looks her up and down, "Who are you?"

Everyone sighs, now they get why he's acting like this. He's sleep walking again.

Dodge gulps and laughs, last time he was like this Toya had sworn to protect her day and night and literally was in tune to every action she made.

He would find her no matter where she was.

She jumps when Toya is suddenly in her face.

"Dammit Dodge what's wrong with you now? Last time you copycat Luna you tried to kill her. You say you don't remember I doubt it will be like that this time. What? Are you trying to impress someone? Just so you know if it's me I'm not impressed you're fine as Dodge the raven haired."

Dodge blushes, "It's not like that."

Toya sits back, "Oh, you're not doing this cause I like Luna, great. Whoever it is, is a super lucky but all the girls on our team are the prettiest in any crowd, or group, or place. It's like being good looking was a requirement for you to be born, but you're more than just a pretty faces, I like Luna because she's the only one that puts me in line."

Chronos and Mira sit down joining the group.

Chronos insists on being her personal guard. Mira is surprised by how stubborn he really is for someone so soft spoken and mostly quiet, you'd think he was a pushover.

Split arrives with Jet and Jake.

Everyone eats together and laughs when Toya carries Luna away so she can get some rest.

"Toya, look, I don't have feelings for anyone in that way, I would prefer if you stopped saying stuff like that. It's like 1099 years too soon for me to want that relationship stuff, I'm only 13, you're like 18 right?" Luna says.

Toya rolls his eyes, "Yeah, so? I have every intention of waiting for those 1099 years. Do you expect me to go looking for someone else now?"

Luna nods, "Obviously."

"Not happening. Get some rest I know you're faking it. That headache and dizziness will turn into something worse if you use your powers."

"Dodge is head over heels in love with you." Luna says trying to tell Toya the obvious truth.

"I'm well aware. I don't feel that way about her and I tell her often. I won't date her out of pity, if I dated any of your friends you'd reject me down the line despite how you feel." He tucks Luna in, pecks her forehead, "I should tell Rex to date her " he laughs sneakily and his face drops seeing Rex at the door.

"Evil piece of work." Rex comments walking away.

Toya smiles at Rex, "How are things going?"

"Good. We should let her stop helping around period. I sensed it too, she's gotten worse. I think the burst of energy is the calm before the storm."

"I'm well aware of that. I just wanted to be sure. Has Kyle come back yet?" Toya asks sitting down.

"Not yet, but we have a bigger problem. A woman has been sabotaging us. She also doesn't want us to use purifiers anymore."

Toya nods, "Than we do what they ask."

"She's the only one that's a problem. Everyone else is asking for our help."

Toya nods, "We still stop. They need to reprimand her for her actions. Why is no one saying anything? Remember what happened when we ignored Samantha? I say let her run this camp to the ground so everyone sees her sabotage, when we expose her they must have proof with their own two eyes."

Rex nods his head, "Alright. I understand that. And just so you know, I don't have a crush on Luna, I just said I did to get on your nerves. You're so easy to mess with. I don't have a crush on anyone, I just want to see myself live to actually find the one."

Toya crosses his arms, "Good. So have you contacted your old camp?"

Rex shakes his head, "What would I say? Hey I'm better off without you?"

Toya shakes his head, "No. I heard from Kyle alot of people deserted. Black is made up of almost 100% new people."

Rex crosses his arms, "Do you want to go visit the place?"

Toya nods, "I heard they have cool stuff we could use. His camp is still standing, aren't you curious how? We can say we're dropping off some supplies."

Rex nods, "Alright. We'll portal there first. If we tell him we're coming he could lay a trap. But why the urge to spy on him?"

"Because my dad said he's dangerous. I want to find out how or why? What if we need to rescue those people? We have enough room, and part of me wants to finish what Luna started and stop allowing people like Coalman to run camps."

Rex nods and opens a portal to his old room. He comes face to face with Coalman.

Toya enters and jumps seeing Coalman.

"What are you two doing here?" Coalman asks.

"Delivering supplies. Unless of course you don't want any. We're more than happy to just leave." Toya answers.

Coalman shrugs his shoulders, "Since you're offering I won't decline. This way." He leads the way to the almost empty storage room. He was about to send a group out for supplies scavenging.

Rex leaves a crate and Toya leaves one too before they make themselves comfortable looking around the place.

"Why the helping hand?" Coalman asks.

"There no longer exists a home with food left behind. They are rare, going out to look for food is suicide. That's why." Rex responds and enters room by room.

So far he's counted only 3 people. He finds the others in the bunker, Coalman has a small number of people.

"This is easy to manage. Don't be greedy and try to get more than you can handle again." Rex mentions touching this and that.

After looking around and satisfied with the new Black. Rex goes back to report to Chronos who crosses his arms pissed off he was not invited.

"We can go back tomorrow. I'm starting to notice we are no longer welcome here, maybe a day away will make them realise how much we're doing for these people." Dodge adds.

Jet and Jake nod, tired of people secretly approaching them for a portal to Murasaki.

Everyone sleeps early announcing they are leaving tomorrow.

"Good riddance if you ask me. Why are a bunch of children ordering us around? What's so special about Murasaki?"

"They are the only camp with few people and a huge space of land. They feed people everyday. They rescue camps from the infected, they also have kids so powerful they make us look bad."

"Look. They are leaving tomorrow. We should discuss who is making breakfast. It was supposed to be Linda's group."

"I'll go remind them." The woman leaves her bed and walks towards the door 3 rooms away, "Linda, the Murasaki children are gone. Tomorrow you ladies are on breakfast. Please remember to wake up."

Linda nods and goes to sleep. The women wake up and head to the kitchen making grits for breakfast as usual.

The men wake up and sigh when they see grits, "Why isn't it pancakes again? Rex promised us pancakes."

Linda crosses her arms, "The Murasaki brats are gone, we don't need them here. There's nothing wrong with this breakfast. Eat up."

The men eat such small portions there's enough for the women to have seconds and they all want extra giving the children extra as well.

An hour later there is a sound of infected rodents in the pipes.

The men gather the purifiers and turn them on. They add pallets in the drains and stand waiting for any to come out of the toilets.

The children would be given at least some few minutes outside the shield walking with Jet, Jake, Rex, and Toya who chase the infected away using the blue mist.

"Dad! When are we going outside again?" A boy asks.

"You're already outside. What are you talking about?"

"Toya always let us go over there," the boy points to the street with some blue mist lingering, "And we eat hot dogs or burgers."

"Toya is not here son. No one else can make that happen. I'll ask them to come back and take you boys out." The male responds.

The children all sit together confused. They decide to take the ball Chronos gave them and play together around the open space.

Linda calls the next group of women who should start preparing the next meal.

The woman smiles happy there is still some vegetables and enough rice.

They cook a turkey meal with rice and salads.

Everyone eats lunch and smiles eating a warm meal.

"This is what we should be eating everyday. Thanks for helping the kids. I see you picked up a thing or too." Benjamin complements the group.

The next group start preparing the next meal and they helped the kids grill the meat and make wraps.

They make food for complements and the men cross their arms angry.

"We're going to be out of meat by next week if you keep going like this? What exactly happened? Because according to Murasaki the kids didn't go home."

"They went to Black, because apparently some of you have been complaining too much."

Some of the women bite their lips obviously guilty.

"Kyle is risking everything to give us a new home. He left us in the hands of capable young men and women. They are still children and they will leave. What will happen when they arrive at home and tell their parents how we treated them? What if Murasaki refuses to help us? We need them to take us to the new place. We can't travel there on foot. Enjoy this meal, because that is all you're having until breakfast tomorrow." Kyle's second in command says.

The women eat and look at each other confused.

"Shouldn't we have enough supplies?"

"My husband said they've started taking the supplies to the new place. There's enough for day to day, but not enough for feasts like this."

"Why didn't they communicate that with us? How were the children doing it?"

"They have the power to wish for supplies. They never entered the stock room. We used what was left in the kitchen just so you know."

Sharon reads a book from the book store at the Murasaki mall. He reads to the children watching as they fall asleep.

"You're as quick a learner as Luna. Photogenic memory one of your skills too?" Toya asks.

"I guess. It's a recent thing though. My dad taught me how to read when I was little. Said his father taught him and his brother. I'm glad it wasn't for nothing. I enjoy those books in the library." Sharon replies.

"Wow, you guys have a library. Murasaki sounds wonderful. What do you do in the street?" A girl asks.

"Walk to the next building mostly. There's not much you can do on the street, but here we take the kids at Moon on a picnic in the street for them to get some leg room. It can only work with well behaved children though." Toya says smiling.

Rex sits next to him and passes around the packet of chips so everyone has their own packet.

"How's Luna doing?" Mira asks

Chronos sighs, "Her life must still be in danger. I tried to rewind the illness but it didn't work."

"Let's focus on sleeping in. We'll need it." Split says.

Everyone agrees and goes to sleep early.
