Plundering Across the Cosmos

*Upload speed is unspecified, I will upload whenever I have free time.* *DISCLAIMER* This is NOT my original novel. I found it on an MTL website and found it fun and interesting so I decided to go down the rabbit hole and edit it with proper English (to the best of my abilities) so that others could enjoy it too. I changed the names for a lot of things, rewrote many others, and tried to make this story read as fluently as possible. If I'm being honest, the whole novel may have been exciting in its original language, but it isn't in English. So like I said before, I'm pretty much rewriting this novel to my liking, still following the original plot and story, but adding A LOT to it. So it technically is a fanfic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. If you guys want to go read the original MTL, its original author was "banana too dog" under the original title of "I Plunder Endlessly In the Interstellar Age" *END OF DISCLAIMER* In the interstellar era, gangs and predators run rampant across the galaxy. Ajax, a skilled artisan crafting energy blocks, finds himself at the bottom of society, subjected to relentless bullying. He plunges into the shadows to ensure his survival, ultimately joining a notorious gang. Ajax stumbles upon a remarkable discovery along his journey – a super warship capable of upgrading limitlessly, given the availability of resources. With this newfound power, he establishes the infamous bandit gang "Reapers." This marks the beginning of an era characterized by endless plundering and ruthless exploits.

Chapter 12

At this time, Ajax was still dressed disheveledly, appearing out of place in this setting. However, none of the girls looked down on him and instead felt a sense of pity.

After finishing the meal, everyone exited the restaurant. Ajax rubbed his stomach as he felt bloated, he hadn't eaten so much in at least three years.

Despite the time, the vicinity of Apollo Academy was still bustling with brightly lit lights and pedestrians.

The girls bid Ajax farewell one by one, leaving him alone with Alana.

"Aren't you going home?" Ajax asked, giving Alana a puzzled look.

"I'll accompany you home first. What if you're surrounded by a crowd on the road again?" Alana said playfully.

Realizing Alana's playful intent, Ajax was at a loss for words and scratched the back of his head, only being able to keep on walking with Alana.

After a few steps, Alana seemed to recall something and turned to Ajax with a serious expression, "Hey, you offended Charles today, I honestly think that you might have gone overboard with your insults. I think you should be careful."

"I probably won't contact him in the future. One victory is enough," Ajax replied, aware of Charles's nature.

"But I'm worried. If you don't go to him, he will come to you."

"Oh, you're worried about me?" Ajax stopped and turned his head slowly.

"You obviously know of the Ashlin Group, right?" Alana also stopped.

"Yep, they have quite the business," Ajax said as he nodded.

Although he was somewhat ignorant, Ajax had obviously heard about the Ashlin Group. They dominated most of the planet's military, medical, and technological projects.

"Charles is one of the heirs of the Ashlin Group. After what you pulled today in front of so many people, he will probably resort to private moves to make your life a living hell."

"That prick is an heir? Shit, I indeed seem to have overdone it..." Ajax smiled wryly and resumed walking.

However, he held no fear; he was merely surprised that he had defeated the heir of the Ashlin Group so decisively.

"But you don't have to worry,.....I'll protect you." Alana deliberately prolonged the ending and returned to her usual playful demeanor.

They kept on walking for ten minutes, chatting as if they were old friends, quickly making it to Ajax's residence.

"So..this..is..where you live?" Alana stared blankly at the remote little house in front of her.

She wasn't trying to offend Ajax, but the place looked more like an abandoned garage than a dwelling.

"You betcha, it's cold in winter and hot in summer and the rent is cheap. It's probably very hot inside right now. Want to come in and experience it for yourself?" Ajax teased, having become much more comfortable after spending the day with her.

"I think I'll pass today and just go home. You can go in and roast like rotisserie chicken though," Alana responded jokingly.

But soon, she looked at Ajax seriously again, "If you ever need help, you can ask me anytime. I'll try my best to help you out."

"Hmm, thanks, I'll make sure to do so when the time comes." Ajax nodded seriously.

He appreciated how Alana treated him. However, Ajax's pride wouldn't let him ask for help and despite his financial struggles, he worked hard every day to survive without needing charity or pity.

After the farewell, Alana left, and Ajax entered his small abode, quickly becoming the "rotisserie chicken" that Alana called him.

He was very tired, so tired that after hastily showering with the water hose, he barely managed to reach his bead before falling asleep.

In his deep sleep, he had that same strange dream again. It was the same man who crawled out of the damaged Warlock-level mecha with a baby in his arms.

He suddenly awoke just as he was about to step forward to see the appearance of that person and the baby.

It was already dawn, and he was drenched in sweat, not because of the dream, but because it was too hot. Unfortunately, the temperature would get so high during the day that it wouldn't fall much overnight.

He groggily sat up from the bed and after washing his face, he sat down in front of his workbench and started making white energy blocks, starting his daily routine.

Since he was penniless right now, he had to find a way to make a few more, or it might be time to start skipping meals.

Somehow, Ajax was able to make energy blocks very fast that day, completing twenty-five energy blocks by around one o'clock in the afternoon.

Thinking it was almost time, Ajax changed into clean clothes, took two mouthfuls of tap water, and headed out.

He didn't have any eddies with him that day, so he couldn't buy himself breakfast. Ajax went straight to the Apollo Academy, aiming to sell the hot energy cubes as quickly as possible. He quickly sold the twenty-five white energy cubes, earning himself seventy-five eddies.

People even greeted him on the road as the video of his confrontation with Charles had spread on the net at a terrifying speed yesterday. Many people in Apollo Academy now knew Ajax.

Ajax decided it was time to leave and started making his way to the academy's entrance where he spotted Alana standing alone from a distance. She was playing with her Vox.

"Hey, who are you waiting for?" After two days of getting along, Ajax and Alana were quite friendly with one another.

"I was waiting for you. there are no classes today." Alana raised her head, put down Vox, and replied bluntly.

Today, she was wearing light blue casual clothes, and her hair was in a messy bun, giving her a lazy look.

"Waiting for me? But I'm heading to work right now..." Ajax had a confused expression. If he was late or didn't show up to work again, Kent would probably fire him.

"It's okay. Didn't you say you'd take me to your workplace last night?"

"I-I said that?" Ajax recalled it carefully, but he never remembered saying that sentence.

"Yes, you must've forgot." Alana gave him an innocent look.

"Huh…"

"Let's go. I haven't had anything to eat yet. Let's grab a bite first." Alana hurriedly interrupted Ajax's thought process as he tried to recall yesterday's conversation.

"Okay, sure." Ajax seemed to think of something when mentioning food and started walking.

Sporting a peaked cap and with three scars across his face, Tanaka, who had talked to Charles the day before watched from afar as they left.

While watching the backs of Ajax and Alana moving away, he took two photos with his Vox and sent them to Charles: "Young Master Charles, I found him. There is a woman with him."

Charles on the other side naturally recognized that Alana was the one accompanying Ajax. His voice became more sinister, "Follow them. I don't give a fuck about what methods you and your people use, but you better act by tonight!"
