Patience (Bleach Fanfic)

Another bleach fanfic, nothing like the others you have seen before. Yes, he is a member of the 2nd Division but he is not staying there or hooking up with Yoruichi. This is not about someone who is reincarnated, knows the plot, and kills Aizen when he is a baby. This is an OC that will affect the story in unique ways. There will be plot points from the original that I will be addressing or changing to fit my headcanon. Follow Yami Kobayashi as he enters the 2nd Division and experience SS through his eyes. And see how he shapes this universe in ways you (probably) never imagined.

Chapter 19

Yoruichi, Kukaku, and Kisuke walked out of the meeting room, letting out deep sighs. They had to give reports on the invasion that occurred while the other divisions were gone and explain in great detail how Soul Society was nearly destroyed by a few hundred quincy and traitors.

They used their incredible speed to shunpo back from the 1st Division to the 2nd in only a few minutes. As soon as they got there, the group descended from the top floor to the bottom where the meeting room of the Onmitsukido Commanders took place. They rarely used this one as they had the 2nd Division meeting room which was closely protected but for especially sensitive matters, they would only discuss those here.

Down in the room, Sui-Feng, Tessai, and Yami were for them. Everyone took a seat around the table before Yoruichi began to speak up.

"We told them the story that we agreed on. They were notified about the breakout in the Central Prison, the assault on the Central 46 HQ, and the Hollows released in the Rukongai. The matter about the Nest of Maggots was left out.

We also did not inform anyone about these 'Schrifts' but instead said that they had Fullbringers among their members that acted as commanders and that all of the commanders were wiped out.

Lastly, Marenoshin has retired. Due to his injuries, he is no longer able to continue his position as Commander of the Patrol Corps and lieutenant of the 2nd Division. Therefore, Kukaku will be promoted to lieutenant while Sui-Feng will get the 5th Seat and also take command of the Executive Militia. Yami, I am transferring you over to the Patrol Corps.

Any Complaints or questions?"

The trio that had just been called out said nothing. This was the most suitable arrangement. Kukaku was the most veteran of them all besides Kisuke but Yoruichi was planning on kicking him out of the Division the next chance she got in order to get him to take up the seat of a captain.

As for Sui-Feng and Yami, the assignment made even more sense. The commander of the Executive Militia should be skilled at Hakuda which was actually Yami's weakest spot. Meanwhile, the Patrol Corps were masters of stealth. Yami's ability to hide his presence was second to none in the Onmitsukido which made him suitable to take over for Marenoshin.

Yoruichi clapped her hands together when she saw that no one had any complaints.

"Good. Then let's talk about what happened up there."

"Those guys were dangerous. They were able to coordinate such a large attack on us. That must have taken years of planning and we only got lucky with finding out about them less than a week before the assault. They were also able to create a massive invasion without any warning," Kisuke pointed out the part that was bothering him the most.

This was no mere assault. It was a complete invasion with the goal of wiping out at least 4 captain-level figures and maybe even the Central 46 if they had enough time.

"It was not just the fact that they were able to get into Soul Society without anyone noticing though. They had access to classified information about both my and Sui-Feng's zanpakuto that only Yoruichi knows as well as knowing that Captain Ukitake would be here when that was decided the day after we found the first quincy."

This was what was bothering Yami the most. Planning an invasion after years of gathering data? That was fine. But he had only been a part of the 2nd Division for 3 years and Ukitake's matter happened only a few days before it.

Their speed at gathering information and such classified information put even the Onmitsukdio to shame on some levels.

"And they were able to escape without me being able to detect a thing too. Both times, they only left my line of sight for a few seconds before they could get away from us without a sign."

Kukaku was the one feeling the most guilt. Yoruichi and the others had killed off the main commander but she had failed to kill both of the other quincies that were present.

"So what you're saying is that we have an enemy that we cannot see, trace, or defend against until they show themselves who also have the ability to gather very classified information almost instantly. Their numbers are unidentifiable and they each have unique abilities that make them stand out from other quincies. They also have combat abilities that can match captains. These captain-level figures can escape from us as long as we don't keep our eyes on them for a few moments. And lastly, they all most likely report to someone who has combat potential comparable to the old man."

Yoruichi summed up everything. And to put it simply, most other people would assume they were screwed. But unfortunately, they had come across the princess of the Shihoin.

"Tessai and Kisuke. I'm about to work you both to the bone. We need a place that the quincies cannot infiltrate. This will be our base of operations. We also need some radars that can alert us when a Quincy enters a certain area and stop them from leaving as long as they are within that area.

Yami, you're gonna have to place those in every vulnerable part of the Seireitei. We need to know if they are listening in on anything they should not be or infiltrating places with sensitive information. If they are, Sui-Feng, you are to handle them."

Yoruichi's plan was simple. They would counter the quincy force with her own people. Although she knew they couldn't beat back the quincies with just the Onmitsukido and 2nd Division, if it was a competition of espionage and counterintelligence, she knew that they were more than a match for an enemy that they knew about.
