Chapter 4: Fair strategy

"KENDAAALL" he screamed to get the red-haired boy's attention.

His partner looked at him and immediately understood his intention but not without putting on a reluctant frown, seeing him hesitating Adler's eyes narrowed his gaze piercing his colleague, Kendall turned around and abandoned his fight with Melia, focusing his blood on the leg's muscles and beginning to race towards Evren and Adle.

Seeing this Evren scoffed.

"Planning to gang up on me, what a noble strategy".

A small smile appeared on Adler's face for the first time since the battle started.

"What, it's not against the rules, is it?"

Melia was flabbergasted when Kendall abruptly turned around and began dashing toward Evren, She started injecting more blood into her Eosium The weapon reacted by altering its form.

The blade of her dagger began to become red, and more red blades composed of pure blood began to form around the circular grip; the Eosiumin now resembled a fumma shuriken.

She threw the Eosium with a frighting speed, the shuriken left a scarlet trail in the air while approaching Kendalll's back.

Adler was surprised when Melia's shuriken began to alter its Angle to strike Kendalll's armband.

'She can perfectly control this thing in mid-air'

Before he could warn his partner his mouth was forcefully closed by a hook on the chin, making him fall backward; he glared at Evren who replied with a small smile.

"What, I punched you while you were distracted is not against the rules, is it?"

A high-pitched sound caught the attention of the two announcing that Kendler's armband had been destroyed, he was still standing in the same place dumbfounded searching for what had hit him, Evren looked out the corner of his eyes at the priceless face of rage that Kendall had.

Adler swiftly stood up and lunged, aiming for Evren's wristband. What stunned him at the time was the speed with which Evren's eyes focused on him again, effortlessly tracking his movements. Adler expected him to evade, but that was not the case. Evren remained still as if he was just waiting for it, his dark-red eyes following Adler's motions as he shattered Evren's wristband.

The alarm sounded again, this time announcing Evren's elimination. At the same time, while Adler just stared at him, surprised by his opponent's actions, or rather lack of actions, a red trail passed through the air and the alarm sounded again, this time announcing Adler's elimination as well.

Adler perceived the world to be in slow motion for a few seconds, and when it returned to regular speed, he became aware of his own elimination.

While Kendall kept with his childish welling Evren started heading towards the exit of the arena his patience already gone and with no reason to accept a meanless battle, when the red-haired boy noticed he began to run towards him setting up a punch to stop him from running from the rematch.

"DID I SAY YOU COULD LEAVE?".

Before his fists could reach anything Evren's body turned around with a speed that he didn't remember his opponent displaying before, pain rose from his stomach the air leaving his lungs before his mind could switch off he could see Evren's dark red eyes turning into a glowing red.

Elis asked impatiently she had to wait for someone to drag Kendall's body out of the arena, in the meantime, the two fledglings already left heading to the dormitories leaving the audience and even the teacher speechless after the girl with beige hair eliminated both Adler and Kendall.

'Seriously how I'm going to take the permission to go on serious missions when both members of my squad are acting like idiots'

Elis pondered furiously, her eyes piercing Adler's, demanding explanations as he caressed his chin; the pain from being struck and kicked in the same spot took some time to fade.

Adler had to concentrate to not let his eyes toddle through the attractive sight of her curvy body.

"Well, they are more interesting than I thought, thanks for the information Elis".

She and her escort left the room leaving an angry Elis alone with Adler.

Pressing the card into the lock, the door to the apartment opened with a small click sound. The building that served as a dormitory was large and every student had its room; the privileges of being a student on the upper five curriculum were having an apartment like the teachers and instructors.

Evren entered the place and was truly amazed by the great space of the place, but what drew the boy's attention was Hina sitting at the table near the kitchen; his surprise was not that she had entered his apartment without permission, but that she had no shame in doing so.

"I shouldn't be surprised that you have a copy of my access card, but your disregard for other people's privacy never fails to surprise me".

"So boring I thought you would manage to at least bring a girl with you on the first day" Hina said with a teasing smile.

"So that you could kick her out yourself?".

She opened her mouth to reply but nothing came out, she was sitting lazily as if she owned the place.

"Don't tell me you're going to sleep here?".

"No, I am here because that old geezer wanted you to choose your first mission"

She handed him her phone, which had a long list of missions, most of which were escort missions or killing blood beats who were causing some kind of problem. Evren skipped through them all, looking for what piqued his interest when his eyes settled on the screen as soon as he saw a specific name.
