Jack attack.

Jack's eyes narrowed as he watched the two kids before breaking into a fit of laughter.

He ran at the two and every step he took shook the ground. Alex picked up Shanks before throwing him into the air at Jack's face. Shanks slashed his sword with all his might and the attack tore through the air.

Meanwhile, Lugh's tongue wrapped around one of Jack's horns as Alex clicked his two staves back into one and grabbed one end. Alex flew through the air beside Shanks's attack as he cocked back his staff. Once he was in range, Alex swung his staff at Jack's temple with every ounce of power he could muster.

Alex and Shanks' attacks both landed at the same time. Alex landed on Jack's shoulder after attacking and kicked off, pushing Jack back as he did a backflip before landing on his feet. Shanks continued through the air and slashed again. This time his sword made contact with Jack's face.

Alex looked up, disappointed at how easy the fight was.

Suddenly, Jack's hand swung out and grabbed Shanks. He held Shanks in his fist and started to squeeze.

"JAHAHAHAHA!" Jack laughed.

Alex looked horrified. Jack didn't have a single scratch on him.

Jack wound his arm back before throwing Shanks at Alex. Alex could barely even see Shanks as he flew in the air. He didn't even have time to brace for impact as he was hit in the stomach by Shanks's body.

The two flew backwards, hitting half a dozen pirates without slowing down, they bounced off the ground and hit the wall of a house.

However, even that didn't slow them down as they flew through three more houses before finally stopping.

The only thing that Alex could hear was a loud ringing in his ears. He looked down and saw Shanks at his feet unconscious and with one of his arms twisted in the wrong direction. Alex looked at himself and saw blood flowing out from his mouth, staining his white shirt.

Alex felt the world around him spin in a familiar fashion. Black spots formed in his vision as he fought to stay awake.

Just when he was about to fall unconscious, Alex spotted something out of the corner of his eye. A little kid, with one missing leg was staring at him with a terrified look in their eyes as tears streamed down their face.

It was the kid from before, the one Alex had made a makeshift leg for.

Alex looked around and realized where he was. He was surrounded by the children he had helped and other villagers wearing rags and looking haggard.

He was in the shack he built for the homeless villagers and orphan children. Alex felt the wall against his back vibrate harder and harder as Jack's footstep got closer and closer.

Alex clenched his teeth. He couldn't fall now, he couldn't lose consciousness. He had to get back up, he HAD to keep fighting. Failure wasn't an option, not for Alex. Ever since that day, he had vowed to himself, to that person, that we would achieve his goals. He would carry on her legacy and he WOULD become the smartest person in the world.

But, Alex could feel it, the blood constantly seeping from his mouth was too much. He had lost too much blood.

Alex looked down once more at Shanks. Shanks's eyes fluttered, he wasn't even fully conscious yet Alex could see Shanks's hand clenching the sand beneath them. Determined to get back up, determined to fight.

Alex coughed up blood before his vision blurred. When his eyesight regained focus, the only thing he could see was a familiar dark alley.

Alex looked down, his body was smaller and frail and he was covered in dirt. Alex was lying on the ground with a sharp pain in his stomach. He looked up with lifeless red eyes as a foot stomped down on his stomach.

"Freak!" An older kid who was kicking Alex repeatedly yelled.

Alex didn't even try to defend himself. He lifelessly took each and every kick his abuser hit him with.

Eventually the kid kicking Alex tired himself out. He spit on Alex's face before kicking him hard in the stomach and sending him into a wall.

The kid smiled and walked away while Alex lay on the ground with a line of blood falling from the corner of his mouth.

Alex opened his eyes after a minute and looked out. His eyes were assaulted by the bright light of the sun that pierced into the dark alley. As his eyes tried to adjust, he was suddenly able to see again. A dark shadow stood over him and blocked the sun from his eyes.

There was a woman standing over Alex and looking down at him. She looked to be around 35 years old. She scratched the back of her neck before bending over. She reached out to Alex and lifted his shirt.

She smiled. "You're pretty tough. I thought you might have been seriously hurt."

Alex didn't say anything.

The girl smiled. "I'm Grace. Nice to meet you."

Alex rolled over and looked away.

The girl sighed. "It's rude not to introduce yourself."

Alex ignored her and she sighed again. She bent down and left a loaf of bread on the ground before walking away.

Alex waited for her to leave before picking up the bread and scarfing it down.
