A hard choice

"Sigh, why is life so mid?"

"I promised myself I'd sleep before 1 am, but here I am awake at 4 am."

"Why am I not scared? Reading a horror book at 4 am alone."

"I wish a ghost would come; I just want to see anything supernatural. I'd do anything if I could just confirm the existence of anything supernatural."

A young boy sat on his bed with a book in his hand, thinking about how mid his life was and wondering if he would ever encounter anything supernatural.

He's Elian, a typical teenager with an existential crisis. Elian had already done everything that a teenager would want, but he's still not satisfied with his life.

The reason he's not satisfied with his life is because he's going to die in 2 years due to cancer. But he wants to finish many ongoing stories he follows.

He fears that after dying there might be nothing; that's why witnessing anything supernatural would confirm the existence of the soul, reincarnation, hell, heaven, gods, etc.

"Fuck, man! Why can't someone with superpowers contact me? I'LL LITERALLY DO ANYTHING FOR YOU!" Elian shouted, showing how much of a fanatic he is.

"Anything?"

"YES, ANYTHING!"

"Wait, whose voice is that?" Elian asked in shock and confusion.

"Well, you were the one who called me first, and now you're asking who I am?" the mysterious voice replied.

"What!? Are you some dude with superpowers?"

"Indeed I am."

"Really? Or have I gone delusional?"

"Well, unfortunately, you haven't. I'm real, and back to the topic. You said you would do anything, right?"

"Yes, I did say that, and I don't plan on going back on my word."

Elian believed the strange voice even though he couldn't see him. He thought that even if he had gone mad, it wouldn't matter as long as he could see something magical while being mad.

"Anything, hmm... Okay, then I'll show you magic, and in exchange, you will be transported to Kuroinu as a princess of a certain kingdom."

Hearing this, Elian was shocked; he had some doubts about whether it was the same Kuroinu he had watched before or something else.

The magical voice confirmed his doubts.

"Yes, it's the same world you are thinking about. So how about it? Are you ready?"

"Nah, I'd refuse. Just knowing that Kuroinu exists means supernatural things really exist..."

"Also, your voice is further proof too. So that's all I needed; now I can live peacefully," Elian said happily.

"What!!? You scammer! You said you wouldn't go back on your word!" The magical voice complained.

He couldn't believe that he got played by a mortal. He started thinking about whether or not to send a certain existence to isekai this brat to another world as revenge. But he controlled himself and said,

"You can't go back on your word, kid. I have already revealed myself, and if you don't accept my request, then I'd have to erase your memory."

"Also, that Kuroinu thing was a joke. So don't worry about that."

Elian was naturally angry and scared after hearing him at first, but after his second sentence, he felt relieved.

"Oh, you got me scared in the first half, not gonna lie. Anyway, what's the real deal then?"

"I'll send you to your favorite world in exchange for something that wouldn't affect you badly at all; instead, it will benefit you," the magical voice replied.

"Really? My favorite world? It sounds suspicious, though. What can a powerful existence like you want from someone as weak as myself?" Elian felt the magical voice was very suspicious.

"Well, it's nothing much. I just want an interesting story that I can publish in other universes. Don't be suspicious of me; I have offered the same thing to many individuals to create stories for my books. Trust me, it's nothing bad," the magical voice said in a really suspicious tone.

"Whatever, it's not like I have any choice here, and since it benefits me, even if I have to do something bad, I don't mind. So you can tell me in advance," Elian said truthfully.

"Really? Then I'll tell you. I'm actually from a chaos race whose purpose is to wreak chaos and change the fate and destiny of worlds. I can't directly do anything, so I have to choose individuals to do the work for me."

"So you just have to change the plot of the world you will go to and change the fate and destiny of people in it," the magical voice explained.

"That's it? Well, I accept your deal; it's not like I have any important things in this world." Elian thought there might be more reasons, but he shouldn't push his luck too much, so he decided to be satisfied with the explanation.

"A good choice! Now choose whatever world you want to go to. If you do well in the first world, I might make you my main apostle and grant you the ability to travel to other worlds," the magical voice said.

Elian started thinking of which world he wanted to go to. There were countless worlds from the stories he had read, so it wasn't easy to choose. So first he narrowed it down to the 10 best ones that he would like to go to:

"Hmm, now which one should I pick? Uhh, every one of them is good. I can't choose like this."

Elian couldn't choose one, so he decided to make it random since he was fine with any of them.

"Hey, magic voice, can you do something like a roulette and put all these worlds in it? I'll choose whatever world it lands on," Elian asked the magical voice.

"Sure, why not? The power you get will also be chosen like this based on which world you go to," the magic voice said as a giant floating roulette appeared in front of Elian.

It had all the names of the stories Elian had chosen. Seeing it, Elian was really excited, as even though he had been talking to a magical voice till now, he hadn't seen any physical proof of magic before this. Now he had confirmed it.

"Start the roulette!" Elian shouted, not caring about his neighbors.

The roulette started to move as it gained speed slowly. Elian's eyes filled with anticipation as he waited for the result.

Slowly, the roulette slowed down as it moved like a clock before stopping completely.
