Chapter 261: Confronting Doflamingo
The group landed on one of the upper gardens of the castle and we were blinded by a strong flash of light.
When things finally calmed down again, they were left standing on the grassy ground, staring at the feminine water figure that loomed over the horizon, looking much more threatening than Doflamingo birdcage.
"What is that thing?!, is immense!" Exclaimed King Riku with fear. Despite being very far away from them, the figure was so massive that covered most of the horizon and her upper part almost got lost in the clouds. He has never witnessed something this massive.
"That's not a thing!, that's our friend, Vivi…. that's her, right?" asked Luffy, not looking very sure.
"Wasn't she supposed to be a prisoner inside the castle?." Asked Franky.
"She was able to escape then, I heard some news of a commotion occurring at the castle. One member of the Doflamingo family was murdered, but I didn't have time to get the details." Said Viola.
"She was at the coliseum!. I met her there and she helped me escape. She was using some sort of disguise at the time." Explained Rebecca.
"So, you both know this….woman?" Asked King Rikku.
"Wait, you said she was at the coliseum?"
The King thought for a moment. He remembers seeing another female contestant besides his daughter.
"That woman?"
"Ah, that's right! I saw her too!. She had blonde hair." Commented Luffy.
"Hold on, you knew?!, why didn't you say anything? We came all the way here to rescue her!" Shouted an angry Sanji.
"Ahh...I forgot, shishishi. I thought we came here to kick that Doflamingo ass." Luffy said with a grin.
"We came here to defeat Doflamingo too." Said the King.
"We won't be able to leave this place unless we can take Doflamingo down anyway. That's the only way to remove this cage." Added Law.
"I'm glad Vivi is safe and all…" Started Usopp.
"But since when can she grow so much?"
"She can't…" Said Robin. They all looked at her.
"Vivi explained to me and Nami how her ability worked on detail. She has a limited amount of water to work with. She can compress the water in order to fit more but her current limit is around ten tons of water."
Franky pointed at the colossal water construct.
"That has way more than ten tons of water. Is probably in the billions!"
"That should be impossible…unless…" Law seemed to be thinking about something.
"What is it?" Said Sanji.
"Never mind that now, we have been found!" Law looked ahead and a group of soldiers came running at them.
"Strawhats!, by order of Lord Doflamingo you are to be executed!" The leader of the soldier shouted.
King Riku stood at the front of the group.
"Captain Williams!, stop this madness. Don't you see that Doflamingo has been deceiving you all along?!"
"Father…" Viola shook her head. These soldiers were not the ones her father remembered. After ten years of serving under Doflingo, they had become completely loyal to him.
The guard Captain pointed his sword at Riku.
"You dare come here and cause trouble to the rightful ruler? you are nothing more than a traitor! Kill them all!" he barked.
Two dozen guards, armed with swords and clad in full-plated armor charged at the group.
"Gomu gomu no…bazooka!"
Before Luffy's fists could hit the soldier, an old man wearing a tight suit, deflected it while standing in front of them.
Next to him was a young blonde man wearing high heels and a white hat.
"Lao G, Dellinger." Viola recognized them.
"You know them?" Asked Sanji.
She nodded. "They are high-ranking members of the Doflamingo family, they work under Diamante's orders."
"Looks who came here!" Dellinger pointed at Viola.
"You have the gall to come back to this place?!, how could you betray our family like that?" Lao G shouted.
"My loyalty was never yours! I did what I had to do to keep whatever was left of my family alive!" Screamed Viola.
"So…you are some of the bastards who took away her kingdom." Sanji looked extremely angry.
"Captain!, leave these guys to me!"
"I'll help you with the soldiers!" Said Rebeca.
"I'll stay too," Kyros added. He was not leaving his daughter alone with the blonde chef. That man was too dangerous...
The rest of the group continued advancing toward the highest point of the castle where Doflamingo was waiting. That place used to be the King's private garden and was situated right above the throne room.
Along the way, more members of the Doflamingo family showed up, Franky, Robin and everyone else, stood behind, allowing Luffy to continue until he finally reached Doflamingo in a matter of minutes.
Law was at his side but he was in no shape to fight. He had yet to recover from the injuries he had suffered during his first encounter with the Shichibukai. However, the man had refused to miss this. If today was the day that Doflamingo was finally defeated, he wanted to be a witness of it at least.
"Strawhat!" Doflamingo gazed at them.
"I see you came here so I could kill you personally…."
His eyes moved to Law.
"And you too…I'll make it especially slow for you."
"Oi Mingo!, I came all the way here to kick your ass!." Exclaimed Luffy.
Doflamingo raised an eyebrow.
"What did you call me?...never mind that. Kick my ass?, you say...that won't be happening. You cannot defeat me and you will never take down my birdcage. My strings are stronger than steel and no one ca-"
The entire castle, no…the entire island shook violently.
The sound of something breaking came from behind Doflamingo.
When the young lord turned around, he could not believe what had just happened.
Two massive fists made of ice were hitting and tearing apart his impenetrable birdcage.
"This can't be…"
