Chapter 179: Escape
"Tell him to go faster!" Exclaimed Buggy with worry.
"That's not necessary," Sanji said while looking forward.
"They are all already going as fast as they can"
Next to them was the Umibozu and the giant fish pulling the other ship with scared expressions.
All around them, they could barely see the dark shapes of many sea monsters also running away in fright.
"They all can sense the danger." Said Robing.
"I wanna see the volcano erupt!" Luffy looked back in excitement.
"Let's take cover inside!" Usopp started running.
"That won't make a difference if are caught by the lava and the bubble bursts," Vivi told him.
Behind them an explosion occurred, shaking the ground and illuminating the dark area.
"There it is!" Luffy pointed.
The volcano erupted, releasing a massive amount of lava onto the deep waters.
"The magma is running through the ocean floor!" Exclaimed Franky.
"Hot, hot!" Chopper complained.
"The temperature is getting high even at this distance. " Said Robin.
The currents started to get more aggressive.
"No!, the differences in temperatures are creating a whirlpool!" Explained Nami.
"Which way is the island?" Sanji said with urgency.
The navigator looked at the log pose on her wrist.
"Straight ahead, just a bit further!."
"There is a big hole ahead of us" Warned Vivi.
"Yes, we need to go into that tech." Decided Nami.
"Are you serious?" Asked Buggy.
"Is straight down!" Exclaimed Usopp.
"Is Fishman Island really there?" Questioned Zoro.
"Trust your navigator!" Commanded their Captain.
"Octi, jump down!"
The octopus did not hesitate and went down the hole.
Another explosion occurred above them as they started to descend.
"Another volcano?" Asked Vivi.
Light coming from the lava illuminated the area again.
"What's that above us?. There is something approaching" Observed Franky.
"Mud?" said Zoro.
"Rocks!. There are big rocks falling down" Said Sanji.
"It's an avalanche. The eruption caused the cliff to crumble" Nami spoke.
Giant rocks were now falling towards their ship.
"Let me get out of the bubble, I'll cut those rocks," said Zoro, preparing to leave.
"Zoro, stop! We are over 8000 meters deep now. If you leave the bubble, the pressure will crush you" Said Robi.
"Can you do something?" Nami said to Vivi.
" Not sure…I can't control that ability yet, I was very angry at that time…" Said Vivi.
"Leave it to me!...Hissatsu…midori boshi(green star)....Sargasso!"
A tremendous amount of seaweed sprouted from the wall of the cliff and stopped all the mud and rocks from falling on them.
"Seaweeds, amazing Usopp!" Exclaimed Chopper.
"Way to go Usoop!" Nami cheered on him.
"Yeah, let's get him laid with a mermaid later on!" Suggested Vivi.
"Hey!" shouted an outraged Sanji.
"I-It…it won't last for long…" said an embarrassed Usopp.
"Get away while we can, Octi! " Shouted Luffy.
The Kraken moved to the other side of the cliff before the rocks started falling again. Unfortunately, one of the rocks ended up hitting him on the head, knocking him out.
The Sunny kept descending until they reach the true bottom of the sea at 10000 meters.
"Uff, safe…" Franky said while bragging in relief.
"Is so bright down here. "Commented Chopper.
"You are right, where is this light coming from?" Indeed Sanji.
"Over there! " Vivi pointed up.
When they looked in the direction she was pointing, their eyes widened with surprise.
"Is that what I think it is?" Asked Usopp.
They all saw a giant bubble with an island inside. The whole thing was massive.
"Fishman Island" Said Robin.
"We are here!" Exclaimed Nami.
"Mermaids, finally! " Shouted Sanji.
"Is finally over…" Said Buggy with tears in his eyes.
"How do we enter now? Our ship looks stuck here on the ocean floor. " Observed Zoro.
"The octopus is still out," Vivi pointed out.
"We can wait a bit for it to wake up." Said Nami.
"Let me smack him awake…oh wait, is waking up!" Luffy smiled.
"Oi! , take us up there, Octi!. I can't wait to try their food. What kind of meat would they have there?"
"Well, I doubt they will have many cows or pigs, so…fish?" Said Vivi.
"But they are fishmen, isn't that cannibalism or something?" Questioned Usopp.
"Oi, there are some big guys there!" Warned Franky.
They posted six big Sea Kings looking towards their ship.
"What do those guys want?" Said Sanji.
"There are people on top of the Sea Kings!" Usopp observed with his spyglass.
"What are you doing? letting humans order you around, Kraken." One of the persons riding the sea monsters spoke.
The Kraken's attitude changed and became instantly terrified.
Luffy looked at them.
"Hey, who are you? And…can I ride one of those things too?"
"You are the Strawhats…I know of you. You were the ones that crushed Arlong's plans…if that were all, this matter would be clear." Said the fisherman.
"But…" He continued. "We learned that you saved Hachi, a former member of the Arlong pirates two years ago, and also that you punched one of those despicable Celestial Dragons."
"So tell me Strawhat. Are you a friend or foe? Will you join the new Fishman Pirates?
Remember that if you refuse, we will sink your ship and kill everyone on board."
"What?!" Luffy could not believe what he just heard.
Vivi saw how tense Nami had become at the mention of Arlong. She wishes she could help her get over that trauma, but that is something Nami has to do herself. She could only be there for her when needed.
Vivi looked in the direction of the fishmen. Something that she could actually do was to memorize the aura of those six pirates and find them later on, and punish them.
