Ch 12 : Arlong's death

While Nami easily handled Kurobi with Thundara, the situation of Rei didn't seem to be that good.

Blood on the corner of his mouth, tattered clothes, and one broken arm.

If not for the protection from the defensive armor, Rei would definitely have been dead by now.

On the other side, even though Arlong had some injuries all over his body, the whole person still looked pretty much energetic and wasn't slowed down by the injuries at all.

" Hahahahahah! How is it? Do you realize what I mean? Fishman is in every way superior to a human?"

A Fishman racist to the core.

One thing that separated Arlong From Jinbei, even though both of them were from the same Sun Pirate was his idealism. Arlong rejected the reality and decided to believe that Fishman was in every way superior to humans.

Well, it is not entirely false, though. Fishman indeed has higher starting points than humans, but one must remember that a lot of humans had reached the stage where a Fishman had never reached in hundred years of history.

Rei spotted some blood from his mouth as he looked back at Arlong.

" Is that it? Your base of confidence? Fishman superiority? For someone with a menacing look. you certainly lack in the brain part!"

" Boy... you are courting death!"

Annoyed by Rei's words, Arlong used a fist to blow another punch in Rei's guts.

The strength of the punch was indeed blocked by the defensive armor, but after being damaged on so many occasions, even the defensive armor began to crack a bit.

Rei knelt down on the floor as he felt he was about to puke, and right in front of him was Arlong, who still stood tall.

" Boy, I applaud your courage, But sometimes just courage is not enough. It must be you who had given Nami the idea to rebel, and because of that, you must die!"

Arlong had enough now. The battle had been dragged for too long, and now was the time to finish it.

But just when he was about to launch the finishing blow at Rei, he felt that his eyesight had been blurred a bit.

Arlong's fist hits the ground hard. But strangely, it missed Rei by a whole few centimeters.

Looking at this, the laughter began to escape from Rei's mouth.

" Hahahahahaha... finally.. I have waited for this moment for too long!"

Rei then let a huge sigh of relief from his mouth.

He who had been in the dying door just now suddenly stood up, and for some reason, Arlong had a very bad feeling about this.

" Hmm? Not much.. I just put some poisons into the bullet. But for you to hold on this long, you are certainly stronger than I thought. I guess fish has some immunity to poisons after all."

Rei laughed like a madman, but then he noticed that one of his arms was still broken from Arlong's attack.

" Ouch.. I should treat this first. After all, I really don't want Nami to see me in such a sorry state."

Rei then took out medicine and put it into his mouth. The medicine looked like a panacea, but for some reason, Rei's injuries suddenly healed after he took all the medicine, and it seemed like a new Rei had taken the place of the old Rei.

Looking at this, Arlong's expression grew grim.

From the very beginning, he had never taken the enemy seriously. But who knew that his attitude had cost him this battle.

If he knew, he would have crushed the boy from the start.

It was like winning the battle but losing the war.

" Boy, just who are you..."

" Me? Hmm.. if I might say in the correct term, you could call me a whale. Yeah, you are a shark and I'm a whale, so it is certain that I will win the battle!"

Arlong didn't really know what Rei was talking about, but he felt Rei was mocking him. He was about to shout at Rei's face, but Rei had already put his gun on Arlong's head.

" Sorry, it is too late now. Say my thank you to fisher tiger for freeing Boa Hancock!"

" What the fuck are you-"

" Bye!"

BOOM!!!

Rei pulled the trigger, and a huge hole was blown in Arlong's head.

His body fell to the floor, and a lot of blood gushing out from the hole in his head.

" Damn.. finally!"

Rei slumped down on the floor. Even though his injury could be healed, all the stress and fatigue from the battle were still there.

It was his first battle, and to be able to last this long, it could be said that he had done pretty well.

After a long and arduous battle, Arlong was finally defeated. Nami and the Cocoyasi village could finally be free.

Rei was just ready to stand up and drag his tired body back home, but then a force was coming from the side.

" Rei!! Thank you, Thank you very much!!!"

This time, it was none other than Nami.

She actually had been there from the last few moments of Arlong and Rei's battle, ready to give support at any time.

But now, she saw the nightmare that had been plaguing her for years had been dealt with, and she could not help but cry with relief.

She jumped at Rei, and immediately went for a kiss.

" Thanks Rei, I love you!"

" Yeah, me too..."

The two shared their kiss, and even though there was some drops of blood on Rei's body, Nami didn't care anymore. All she cared about was the man that had saved her from her darkest nightmare and also possibly the man who would stay with her for the rest of her life.
