Chapter 116: Fracture Of Gloom III
...........
It was special on its own, one of insanity, quite understandable considering Laffitte was one of the participants, a broken Laffitte.
"Lafhahahahahahahaha!" His laughter spread far, but in contrast to Trebol's obnoxious voice, Laffitte's was sweet, almost alluring.
The sweetness of his voice almost hid the eeriness and insanity in it, so much so that it drove a chill down Diamante's spine.
It was not just because of the insanity in Laffitte's voice, but also because of its effect as he felt a headache overwhelming his mind, an invisible force massaging his mind, trying to tempt him into death.
"I..." Laffitte's laughter came to a halt as his eyes landed upon Diamante, slowly unsheathing his long sword, his white wings flaring about.
"I really... Just want some release... I want to vent, so hear me out!" His voice went from being eerily soft to alluringly fascinating. His voice spread far and wide, reaching the ears of all those near.
Diamante couldn't help but smirk as he asked, "Do you think those peasants could even hold a candle against me? Uahahahaha, but you're insane, and I love it! So bring it on!"
Whatever Laffitte was doing, it brought much joy to Diamante, and soon, how twisted the two are became clear as people ran from far away toward Diamante.
These people, they acted like Zombies without a will of their own, simply listening to Laffitte's song of, "Song Of Chaos."
Yovan rarely kills unnecessarily, but the same could not be said for Laffitte. No, the psychopath was angry, and when in rage, psychopaths do whatever psychopaths do.
And Chaos took place indeed as Diamante took out a rapier of his own, killing all of those near him without mercy.
"Ha ha! Ha ha! Ha ha!" The peculiar sound waves reaching Diamante's ears coincided with the disappearance of Laffitte... It was almost like he ceased to exist, even Diamante's Observation Haki unable to detect him at all.
Now that made Diamante frown, seeming apprehensive. The sound that seems to be coming from everywhere was somehow blinding his Observation Haki, or to be more specific, it seems to be fucking with his brain... That's not a good sign.
However, Diamante wasn't the strongest of Doflamingo's officers for nothing as he dealt with the zombies along with the occasional death songs and air slashes coming towards him.
Indeed, Laffitte was using them as a distraction to attack from afar, and his attacks were dangerous as they seem to somewhat go through Armament Haki, especially his song of Death.
The Song of Death was a move Laffitte developed for long, a slow beam of deadly sound that seeks to not only peel the enemy's skin off but also to torture their mind.
Diamante thus knew he couldn't afford to play around as he felt the Song messing with his mind, slowly but surely. He wasn't sure of the effects of the song, of Laffitte's strange Devil Fruit, so he acted.
Diamante's body turned into fabric, literally, moving about strangely along with his fabric-like sword which he swung, somehow getting to extend far along with his metallic cap.
The result was an all-around massacre... Bodies split into two... Blood splashed everywhere, followed by the sound of a bullet, one Diamante evaded, albeit barely.
Things started turning into fabric, everything around he touched as he ran around, looking for Laffitte while creating an army of stone and metal fabric.
He knows he's near, so he brought down chaos to the surroundings. Diamante is strong, very strong, someone capable of using Haki along with a monstrous physique and speed.
In a matter of dozens of seconds, Laffitte had to show himself, a grin appeared on his pale face. Perhaps that's how he deals with sadness?
The two went for the kill instantly, leaping at each other though the songs of chaos and death were still resounding, Laffitte never stopping his singing even as they clashed.
Laffitte was actually the very last to awaken Armament Haki from the Strangers, Kaku and Kalifa awakening it quicker due to the harsh training they went through in the Cipher Pol.
In fact, the only reason he was even able to awaken it was because of pushing himself beyond the other, mainly because he was afraid of Yovan's punishment training if he were to slack off... Or as Laffitte would prefer to say it, Hell.
So Laffitte found himself outclassed in just about every way against someone as experienced as Diamante, his hardened sword barely holding on, mostly due to its extreme durability.
The sword was after all a gift from Yovan, a high-grade sword he acquired in the Fall Massacre. Most important of all, Diamante was way faster than him, and Laffitte was only able to keep up due to his wings, hardened wings.
He found himself faced with a rapier that moves like a snake along with many metallic fabrics, all trying to dig through his body.
The only thing saving him is his Armament hardened wings, acting as his shield. That and the fact that he was acting mostly defensive, not trying to attack at all.
Diamante realized that he was stalling for time, but it was too late, especially as things took a turn for the worse.
"Very convenient," Laffitte noted much to Diamante's confusion, quite understandable because he wasn't relying on his Observation Haki at the moment. No, it was mostly blocked off due to Laffitte's Death song, "So the toys were actually humans? So twisted and lovely."
A hoard of zombies strumbled their steps toward him, making Diamante's eyes widen, mostly due to Laffitte's words, "Sugar? Trebol!?"
His call fell on deaf ears, and Laffitte wouldn't allow him to leave, "Luhahahahahaha Hahahahaah, Sugar? Trebol? Who?! Oh, Luahahaha, must be dead!!" And he vanished again, slipping away amidst the zombies while taking every opportunity to attack from the shadows.
His laughter still spread far and wide much to Diamante's annoyance, and the latter was very much losing his composure, "Enough!! Death Enjambre!!!"
Diamante pulled out several folded-up confetti, undoing his powers over them, and allowing them to show their real self, cannons that started to fire all at once.
If that wasn't enough, he used Hira Release on more confetti after throwing them high in the sky, revealing them to be spiked iron balls that he had flattened with his powers.
The numerous iron balls then started falling to the ground like rain, a sight akin to falling stardust, a technique with enough destructive power to wipe out an entire army.
And it ended wiped out the army of zombies, leaving most scattered flesh, bones, and blood about.
Chaos overwhelmed the Dressrosa at once, but even the falling spiked iron balls couldn't even come to close to attracting people's attention, not when the Fracture of Gloom took place, forcing Diamante to look up.
His attention was taken away by deep fractures stretching from the ground to the sky like a gorgeously eerie tree, seeming wary, knowing that the crack in space is not the making of Doflamingo.
But even then, he didn't allow himself to relax as he easily evaded Laffitte who just showed himself. He evaded that sharp sword that sought to shred through his heart... So why did his heart still end up being shredded by that same sword at the same time?
Why were there two Laffittes at the same time, both look the same in almost every way except for one's bloody state, flesh that isn't his own dangling from his clothes.
"H-how?" Diamante murmured as he fell to his knees... His heart was gone, thus death was destined... "AHhhHHH!!!"
Laffitte went on to slice off Diamante's legs and arms without any hesitation, "Sorry about that, I mean, just in case, you know." He murmured as only one Laffitte was left, the other vanishing into mist.
"Siren Song, that's the sound you were hearing," Laffitte pointed out to the powerless Diamante, "of course I didn't say it out loud because why would I? To tell you my secret move?"
Laffitte crouched before Diamante, eyeing him with a grin that soon turned to, "Luahahaha, you look funny, I bet that trash king from the Auction House would pay only 10k on you, less than me, luahahahah!!"
The Siren Song, an ability Laffitte worked on for enemies stronger than him, complemented with the Song of Death that kills Observation Haki, it's an extremely dangerous move.
the Siren Song is basically his hypnotic ability that comes from his Mythical Devil Fruit: Siren, but it consists of basically focusing on making the opponent see something that isn't there.
It's extremely difficult to implement depending on the willpower of the opponent which is why it took so long for it to work against Diamante.
In fact, it should've taken way longer, but it seems that what happened with Sugar and Trebol as well as the Fracture of Gloom affected his mental state quite a bit.
So Diamante saw a Laffitte that isn't real, all while the real Laffitte was hiding right next to him, amidst the bloody mess of bodies on the ground, but diamante saw him as nothing but a dead bloody body... Such is the effect of the Siren Song.
Diamante didn't get to hear none of that as Laffitte squashed his head mercilessly, letting out loud maniacal laughter, "Luahahaluahahah Luahahahahaha! Luah ha haha ha..."
His laughter almost turned into... But he held it back, turning it into madness instead, "Hey you!! Piece of shit body! Why are you so red? Get a hang of yourself, will you? No? Let me help you!"
So the dreadful scene of Laffitte squashing down dead scattered bodies while talking to them fell on no eyes, thankfully... And the scene went on for a while.
